When they captured him, he was given about 3 months to live because of his kidney disease. Well, he made it almost 3 years - full of love, snuggles, kittens and play. He was never hungry, lonely or cold again. ❤

I've seen this many times, cry every time . Best part is when the ginger kitten puts his front legs around Grandpa Masons neck in a hug and they both sleep. He was a hero to so many babies. I'm sure he is continuing his duties at the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you again for rescuing him. Who knew?

His last two years of life were at least full of joy and comfort with the presence of his kittens he cared for. RIP Mason, I'm glad you finally found a peaceful home.

Mason keeps switching between confusion and acceptance with the kittens. It's as if all he has known from other creatures is hardship, and he is shocked to find that the two kittens completely trust him. In the end, he sleeps more comfortably and happier than he has in years.

My mom has a male cat that showed up on her porch and she fed it but didn't let him inside at first cause she had house cats. A couple feral mother's had kittens, 11 between the two. My mom made a bed for them on the porch. The mothers would disappear for hours, this male cat would hang out, play with them not let them wonder to far away. We started calling him grandpa( he was already fixed we knew he wasn't the father) eventually we got the kittens homes and brought him inside. He's still there today, I do wander what the neighbors think when he goes outside and we start yelling "grandpa, come on grandpa, it's time to come inside"

In my hometown, Budapest, I started a TNR program with a cat colony, and so far I trapped more 11 female cats, and 10(!) was pregnant unfortunately.
I’m a hard head man with a heart of stone, but things like this just breaks me into pieces, and for that, I have 5 cats, 2 dogs and 2 Guinea pigs. More coming from the shelter❤️

I agree... I brought my little miniature poodle to campground and another family in our group, brought their dying golden retriever (to be near w/ him).. The poor dear was laying on its side, breathing heavily. Littlebit, my poodle ran over to greet him, he stood up, like he was happy and tickled by my dog presence...
Regardless, he did passed away into the night... I think it was a lovely day, that day.. and a sad morning..
I bet Mason was craving that type of love his entire life. He might not be very fond of humans, but that doesn't mean he despises everything. He probably lived a very fearful life, with pain and suffering. And now he gets to snuggle with kittens, something he used to be. It makes my heart flutter when I see them all drift off to sleep(,; this is truly his happy moments he's always wanted. He definitely deserves this.🙏

The old boy got a pretty good opportunity. It is possible that this nurturing role was something he did within his feral colony. All those kitties would need to be taken care of and Mason was on the job. He's doing what comes naturally. He has purpose in his last years. He looks very happy.

The most beautiful part for me is Miss Shelly adopting Mason before he left for the Rainbow Bridge. It still brings bittersweet tears even now. I assume all he remembers is being a baby kitten himself and then being isolated and feral and all other cats wanting to fight instead of cuddle. Saw kitten and became a kitten himself.
I think it's more likely seeing that he's a feral cat that the only love he's had have been from other cats. Cats are very social. It's only when they become dependent on humans that they may lose interest in each other. I have a feral cat who took months to be able to trust me, but in the meantime he had found at least 4 girlfriends, and also a male cat who would stop by once a day to ask him to come out and play. Cats love other cats. They usually only fight over (limited) resources. Look at cat island.
Cats tend to move in packs and the larger the number the safer they will feel. Mason has probably been a dad himself or at worst had to baby sit while a mom in his pack has gone looking for food. Helping to raise new members of his crew unexpectedly introduced is probably par for the course.
@@nothri what no, cats aren't pack hunters, they're solitary hunters. Cat colonies is a thing, but that's a little different, cats in the colony individually hunt for food on their own and bring back extra. Furthermore all a cat colony is is a bunch of mothers and their kittens essentially. Any male cat you see in a colony is most likely the child of a cat that lived in the colony

Who hunts in packs and who doesn‘t strongly relies on their exact type of cat, their surrounding and their food source.
Much food available (f.e Savanna, Citys) -> Packs are more likely to form, because social behaviour is an advantage.
Less food available (f.e Snowy areas) -> more likely to be solitarily to prevent rivalry

Clifford Dodson male cats typically do not stay with mates nor children, especially male ferals. It's not in their instincts. Even the mother grows to be far more cross with her kittens as they reach maturity. In this video, you see Mason treating these kittens well because of his transition from feral to somewhat domestic. It's empathy to a certain extent as well as a need to imprint and care on motherless young. However, when those kittens reach maturity, he may feel the need to let them fall from the nest, thus becoming more cross. It depends on how exactly he views them.
I about lost it when the orange kitten hugged Mason around the neck, and then Mason snuggled further into the hug. So adorable!

Just popped in for another view of this video as I have many times before. It is so comforting to watch and see the remarkable transformation of Grandpa Mason. It is heartwarming to see his reaction to the little kitties giving him the love he deserved and wanted for a long time. RIP dear Mason your mission on earth has been fulfilled by your generous love and compassion for the little ones that you mentored.

I am happy that he passed away while knowing he was loved and care for. I remember Mason and how good he was with the young kittens. Mason fought to help bring hope, love and compassion to those who watched TK Videos. Thank you Mason for your gifts and I hope that you are doing well on the other side.
I adopted a feral kitten who kept acting feral into adulthood. He wasn't overly aggressive, but he was hyper and not one for getting petted--ever. When he was about 2 years old I got another kitten who decided this cat would now be his mother. The kitten cuddled and acted like he was nursing and--the feral cat went along with it. Completely transformed his personality into a calm, affectionate creature. Nine years later, they are inseparable!
Sydney Baxter Yup ~ my Mum had a cat who was tame, but she retained her feral outbursts too ~ unfortunately that also extended to every other cat in the vicinity 😆She was mad, bad and dangerous to know ~ and all respected it lol. In her 16 years of life, I never once picked her up, nor touched her belly, and that was based purely on respect ~ which she returned hehehe
