I didn't see the value in doing the front ports for myself, since I had already wired the 12v outlet from the center console up into the front area so I had good power already there.
Is yhis possible to do but for the USB A ports in the front of Gen 1 Model 3 cars? From my understanding you can if you buy a usb hub that is type c and has a tyoe A beside it from tesla. Thanks for the great video! Front usb hub part# 1522264-00-B
USB-A ports are never more than 5V without special circuitry, so they likely were not more than 1.5amps, so 7.5W likely, but possible they were 2.5 amps which would be 15W, so 7-15W on USB-A.
Has anyone had trouble with the replacement console making a buzzing or whining sound when you plug it in? I purchased two consoles off eBay and both make a buzzing sound continuously (also the USB C ports do not function). I'm trying to determine if I bought defective units that are being resold (they came from the same person) or if my 2018 Model 3 power harness is somehow incompatible with the adapter shown in this video and the new rear console.
You said you picked up the new air vent assembly from Tesla service. Could you let me know exactly how you ordered yours? I have been searching all over the net, and I can't find it anywhere. Kind thanks!
Looks like my original source has nothing up anymore, I see a few adapters up on ebay from international sellers though; so it might take a bit to arrive www.ebay.com/itm/313637150896?hash=item49063b20b0:g:3XQAAOSwwSFfkvkU
@@kayo1265 hehe yeah, its so expensive because it can link to a computer and log data to it. If you just want a visualization; the second usb tester I have (shown in the video) costs like 15-20 bucks and works well.
You can use usb-c to usb-a dongle adapters; and just store them in the center console... thats what I do... I prefer the USB-C outlets as it is nice having usb-c 27 watt charging when needed!
How much was the new Tesla usb-c unit?
Great video! Did you manage to the front ones as well? That would be great

@@cbutters I did the same! So worth it.
@@cbutters Wait, how did you do that? Do you have any links/videos to that?
it seems sold out that now. Do you have any other link or available person? or could you able to talk to the guy who sold it to you?

Would have been nice to see the watt test for the USB-A.
Did you do this? Would help me decide if this is worth it or not.

Did you ever get this resolved? I got a cable long time ago and a new console from Tesla today. It’s making a weird noise and won’t work.
How much were all the parts total?
Do the ports go to sleep when it locks as usual when you walk away ?
Wow, it’s easier than replacing the aircofilters.

Visit a service Center?
Late I know, but I just did it via the tesla app.
How much did the air vent cost?
Do you know a source for the dash assembly and harness as of late?

What usb tester is that ? Where can I get that ?

@@cbutters $67! Geez. Bit too expensive for a product that I just wanted to have. Thanks for the link though

I'm thinking of doing the opposite all my devices are USB-A
