Just sharing, here... In the USA, we have "Painter's Tape." It is similar to brown masking tape, but the adhesive leaves no residue, when the tape is removed. It is usually blue, in color. When I clean my bench top, I use this type of tape to pick up the tiniest bits of metal, that the brush misses. It is also useful for securing a PCB to the bench, when soldering. It has a thousand uses, on my bench, and I always keep it at hand. Again, in the USA, using a light bulb in series as a current limiter is called a "Dim Bulb Current Limiter." It is also (incorrectly) called a "Dim Bulb Tester." It requires a common incandescent, or halogen, bulb(s). LED bulbs will not work and will not protect you. You can mix and match different wattage bulbs, in parallel and series, to obtain the specific current that you desire to use. You mentioned that a resistor may be used to discharge a capacitor, but then you used your screwdriver to short the cap pins. With all due respect, this is a poor and dangerous method that can damage the cap. A "Capacitor Stinger" probe can be made from a high value resistor, having a sufficient wattage rating, a few bits of wire, heat shrink and chop sticks. Many DIY solutions may be found on Google. Constructing one might make a good, short, instructional video, for you. I hope these things help. I take no responsibility for what any individual makes from my suggestions. Each person is responsible for their own research, knowledge and safety.
first of all i am thankful for your comment it is really a valuable safety point. i will share it among all my viewers as well please accept my best regards and special thanks
@@HaseebElectronics In the light of all said above, a 100W incandescent lamp does not always offer the needed protection, simply because it needs relatively too much initial current in order to glow permanently (if something is still wrong after a repair, or even if it is used for a simple verification test that everything is O.K with the power supply under test). The best method is to use each time a bulb that has a power less than or equal to the power of the power supply under repair/test. As a practical example, using a 100W lamp in series to the input of a defective USB telephone charger under repair does not really make sense. In such cases I use a 3W night lamp, while in general repairs I prefer a 40W lamp. On the other hand, an inverter welding machine may need a 350 to 500w lamp for the same test...

Hi, some of the electricians use"KLY POWER CIRCUIT" for repairing smps power supply. We want to know about this this circuit diagram and about its benifits or disadvantages. Does it safe to use it?. Please make a video about this kly circuit
exactly it is series load connected in series with input line of UUT / DUT. during normal operation the lamp will not effect too much but in case of hogh current consumption by UUT/DUT (during any failure / error / abnormality) the series lamp will protect the circuit from any further damage for example, if there is anything short circuited in UUT/DUT, the lamp will glow full instead of any possible damage in the UUT due to any unexpected short cirfcuit

very nice. sir i have branded atx ps its 5v ok, but when i turn it on, means green to ground then it turns on and immediately turns off, and on series; the lamp glows full then dim then full then dim but output 12.1v 5v remain stable, but 3.3 is 2.8, when i apply minor load, then off although on series.. main caps ok vcc cap ok, where is the fault.?
the problem is 3.3 section check capacitors in 3.3v section the lamp is turning on/off, that means the circuit have PFC circuit, PFC circuit needs more power input for turning ON. when we connect series lamp, it cannot produce full startup current by the PFC circuit for initial startup and voltage drop at atx's input, so the PFC turns off when it goes off, the voltage build up again, and it tries to start again just add one more lamp in parallel to the existing lamp or use next higher wattage lamp (if old lamp is 60 watt, use 100 watt. if old one is 100 use another 100 watt in parallel to the old 100 watt or remove old 100 watt and use 200 watts lamp
@@HaseebElectronics i m grateful to u for detail answer, u r right it have a pfc circuit, sir 3.3v caps i checked, its ok, is there chance of Schottky rectifier faulty,?
I think what you are saying about the lamp is that it causes a large voltage drop across its filament if a short occurs in the circuit. A shorted current will flow, but it will be greatly reduced due to the voltage drop in the lamp. The short could occur after a number of otherwise good components. Is that correct?
Great videos Haseeb. One question. Does the lamp must be 100w? Should a 60W or else work as well? I imagine it's all about not to burn the lamp because if the lamp burns out then the lod will fall onto the power supply fuse

great it's fuse was burnt out and I already bypassed fuse with 1 ampere buss fuse wire to demonstrate the problem instead of proceeding to input short circuit diagnostics
