Yeah it does. I like those classic styles from those time periods. The hair care and haircuts have changed tremendously during the past 50 years. Every time I see books with ladies that have the retro look I think: these look way cool. And there are a lot of retro looks I would like to try.

I have a tip, I tried using distilled water in my 'refresher' spray bottle, mixed with a little product. It left my hair softer than tap water does. Its especially good for hard water areas. I had bottles of rose water and orange blossom water in my food cupboard, I thought i'd try them for the smell, then realised they're distilled. Any distilled water is fine, it doesnt have to be scented. Im enjoying your videos btw, thanks
I'm 53, stopped dyeing my hair about 6 months ago, have curly/wavy hair that I could never control, so I punished it with heat, and now just learning about this method. I started with one of your videos, then wandered off into several other CGM "guru" videos, got totally overwhelmed and came back to you. You're the only one who makes me want to try it and makes this seem doable.
I had this idea that I needed to switch to mousse so my hair wouldn't get weighed down but now I know gel gives me better definition. You look adorable with your new cut.

I've been rocking a half pineapple for a long time, but my shortest hairs are juuuust now reaching the ponytail holder. It's really stretching them out. When it was your length, it was honestly better off. Your morning hair looks really good.

I love 💕 this new look on you. Monday I went in for a Deva Cut. My hair was long like your’s was. I had a picture showing the length I wanted my hair to be. My goodness she alway’s cut’s my hair dry. She does the waterfall cut and then she goes in under the top and sides and make’s snips into my hair going up towards my head. After she washed it and clipped it, it was still the length I had in mind. She sit’s me under a hooded dryer on low. I cannot see my hair as it’s drying. It really shrunk up. At first I was shocked! She pulled a curl down and it was longer than my desired length. Curls alway’s shrink up. But because of the snips she put into my hair it lifted it a lot. My curl’s are really curly now. Just like you not a lot of effort into styling. It’s looking really cute and I am getting a ton of compliments on it. That is helping me to like it more. It look’s so much shorter than it really is. Very springy curl’s. I am going to love this going into summer. Take care of yourself. Your eye lashes look beautiful!

I just said it in a different video, but I'll say it again. This hair cut really suits your face!! The back doesn't look bad at all either. If you had straight hair and you chopped it off you may have more issues with it, but curly hair is way more forgiving. I wish I could pull this off!

I have had horribly stringy, dry, frizzy hair! I thought it was my haircut (it wasn't), I thought it was the products I use/don't use (it wasn't). I tried very basic suggestions I learned from you this morning: I didn't wash my hair (it's not dirty or greasy), I put more conditioner in it and left it in there longer, and most importantly I applied my mousse to my hair when it was hair soaking wet then scrunched it up. Just these 3 basic things made my curls much more defined and lessened my frizz on the FIRST DAY I tried it. Thanks so much for these videos! I love your air dry video as well. I am self aware enough to know I will NEVER diffuse my hair. I was getting discouraged by all of the products and procedures many other (wonderful but complex) hair ladies were suggesting. Thanks for giving me hope that I can improve my hair!!!
Everyone's hair is different. Mine is shorter than in this video, especiallyin the back. I use a curly hair shampoo, conditioner, and then a leave in conditioner by Ouidad. Then I use Ouidad styling gel extra hold. I use a Bounce type brush to define the curls, then I use a diffuser to dry it about 90 per cent. With this routine, I don't have much frizziness, even here in south Florida. I am very pleased with my routine and the products I use. But if something else works for you, then that's what you should do. 😊

Pillow cases help indeed. I decided to go with satin instead of silk. It's cruelty free and works the same. The silk industry isn't nice unfortunally :(

I use Cantu products (leave in conditioner) and the Shea shampoo and conditioner. The mousse products dry mine out. When I get out of the shower I get any tangles out put the Cantu leave in on my hands and run thru my hair and ends and roots while holding my head down scrunching all the while. When I'm done I just flip my head back up and let dry on it's own

Hi, I wanted to double-check some details. 1. You use the same condition for washing your hair and conditioning it, correct? 2. How often do you do the two conditioners? 3. You wash out the first conidtioner with warm water and the second with cold water. (Why is that?) 4. Do you leave the second conditioner in your hair for a period of time? (Do you use a deep conditioner every week?) 5. How much is too much gel/product? 6. Lastly, you do wash your hair with shampoo only once a week? (If so, why is that?) Was your hair always this curly? I haven't bought the curly girl book yet so I'm flying by the seat of my pants and TH-cam videos, haha. Your videos are so helpful and enjoyable to watch! Thank you, so much for all your help.

The Volcanic Ash Maui Moisture, the black bottle.....LIFE CHANGING!!! It makes me hair soo cleannnn yet moisturized and it smells amazing. It makes it shinier and cleaner like new fresh cut hair than any shampoo ive ever used

Your hair really looks great, but I'm going to try to grow mine out a little bit longer. I think by next summer I'll be so sick of it I'll cut it off when the heat comes. I'm having my brows microbladed in the morning. I have literally 15 hairs on each side, so every morning I have to draw my eyebrows totally on and it takes me forever. And they don't even look that good afterwards! I am so excited that I will not have to do this for at least a year! Now I can spend more time on my hair!

Though recently discovered that I am sensitive to glycerin. I am getting great results using Tresemme Conditioner, Herbal Essence Mouse, and of course The Biotera Gel. Thank You So much!

I'm definitely going to have to check out that conditioner! I LOVE Bioterra gel. You're definitely on to something. Just to clear a common misconception, squishing the conditioner around your hair is not for curl formation. It is to blend the conditioner and water all throughout your hair. Making sure you don't miss anything.
Makes my fluffy, dry, and curly hair feel so soft! I use Arganlife Shampoo in the shower on my hair and it makes my hair so soft. I highly recommend it, especially for people who have dry or damaged hair like me!

My last “professional” cut at a salon was almost 2 yrs ago. It was such a terrible experience that I’ve been cutting it myself ever since and have no regrets. I think you did a great job and your hair is bouncier. I also think the short hair suits you. 🙂 And an hour to air dry? I’m so jealous (my low porosity hair takes foreverrrrr to air dry). 😅
Is there any practical hair-related difference (other than cost) between tee-shirt scrunching and microfiber towel scrunching? Thanks for your videos, you are a lifesaver! (And a joy to watch!)
The whole idea of not using a normal towel is that the rougher fibres break up curl clumps right? Personally, I find microfibre towels mash up my curls exactly the same as regular towels, whereas a tshirt is smooth and doesn't break up my clumps at all... Also, microfibre is made of plastic and sheds microscopic threads of plastic which are super bad for the environment!!

Oh my! Your hair is so similar to mine! Mine was really long too and I cut mine a few months ago. I also cut mine myself! I haven’t tried using clips, but I’ll have to try it. I love the Cantu Curl Activating cream, btw. It’s very inexpensive and I use it as a leave in. It really defines my waves/curls. P.S. you’re an absolute doll!!

Susie you look cute with shorter hair and it suits you a lot. I thought your back hair looks good too. Inspired by you I cut my hair too 🤪🤪 and that too 2x with in a week since the the first cut wasn’t short enough! I went to my stylist though ( not as brave as you :) she is very affordable so going 2x didn’t cost me a lot! I have replaced bioterra gel with Devacurl arc angel gel and I get very good hold and ringlet kinda of definition without any crunch.
I love the hair. Change is good, especially if it makes you feel a little better after having a rough year. I think you did a great job and it looks healthy!!

Hi, I wanted to double-check some details.
1. You use the same condition for washing your hair and conditioning it, correct?
2. How often do you do the two conditioners?
3. You wash out the first conidtioner with warm water and the second with cold water. (Why is that?)
4. Do you leave the second conditioner in your hair for a period of time? (Do you use a deep conditioner every week?)
5. How much is too much gel/product?
6. Lastly, you do wash your hair with shampoo only once a week? (If so, why is that?)

The Volcanic Ash Maui Moisture, the black bottle.....LIFE CHANGING!!! It makes me hair soo cleannnn yet moisturized and it smells amazing. It makes it shinier and cleaner like new fresh cut hair than any shampoo ive ever used

@@KEscano88 its sooo incredible. its my new favorite summer shampoo but once winter comes i like to switch to a really moist one. this stuff makes my hair soo silky and crazy shiny and smells amazing like shea/vanilla/ginger. its super concentrated too so its gonna last :)

Your hair really looks great, but I'm going to try to grow mine out a little bit longer. I think by next summer I'll be so sick of it I'll cut it off when the heat comes. I'm having my brows microbladed in the morning. I have literally 15 hairs on each side, so every morning I have to draw my eyebrows totally on and it takes me forever. And they don't even look that good afterwards! I am so excited that I will not have to do this for at least a year! Now I can spend more time on my hair!

Though recently discovered that I am sensitive to glycerin. I am getting great results using Tresemme Conditioner, Herbal Essence Mouse,

Just to clear a common misconception, squishing the conditioner around your hair is not for curl formation. It is to blend the conditioner and water all throughout your hair. Making sure you don't miss anything.
Makes my fluffy, dry, and curly hair feel so soft! I use Arganlife Shampoo in the shower on my hair and it makes my hair so soft. I highly recommend it, especially for people who have dry or damaged hair like me!

My last “professional” cut at a salon was almost 2 yrs ago. It was such a terrible experience that I’ve been cutting it myself ever since and have no regrets. I think you did a great job and your hair is bouncier. I also think the short hair suits you. 🙂 And an hour to air dry? I’m so jealous (my low porosity hair takes foreverrrrr to air dry). 😅
Is there any practical hair-related difference (other than cost) between tee-shirt scrunching and microfiber towel scrunching? Thanks for your videos, you are a lifesaver! (And a joy to watch!)
The whole idea of not using a normal towel is that the rougher fibres break up curl clumps right? Personally, I find microfibre towels mash up my curls exactly the same as regular towels, whereas a tshirt is smooth and doesn't break up my clumps at all...
Also, microfibre is made of plastic and sheds microscopic threads of plastic which are super bad for the environment!!

Oh my! Your hair is so similar to mine! Mine was really long too and I cut mine a few months ago. I also cut mine myself! I haven’t tried using clips, but I’ll have to try it. I love the Cantu Curl Activating cream, btw. It’s very inexpensive and I use it as a leave in. It really defines my waves/curls. P.S. you’re an absolute doll!!

Inspired by you I cut my hair too 🤪🤪 and that too 2x with in a week since the the first cut wasn’t short enough! I went to my stylist though ( not as brave as you :) she is very affordable so going 2x didn’t cost me a lot! I have replaced bioterra gel with Devacurl arc angel gel and I get very good hold and ringlet kinda of definition without any crunch.
