      Hold the brakes. Your point is correct when it comes to governance but robbery in soccer is everywhere and this was a good example. Remember then that the president of CAF was from Cameroon and it was obvious then that he influenced the selection of the officials for this match hence the results.

      Gabe Segun there’s nothing like the caf president influenced the decisions,it was a mistake by the linesman,he flagged for offside.nigeria is not the only African nation to be this unlucky.cameroon failed to qualify for 2006 World Cup due to mistakes from officials,was the caf president not from Cameroon!!! @BasilUgochukwu. Rules were very different then, I explained it in my previous post along with a Nigerian guy. There's no Injustice in this play!!!
      Nwosu(who later played in Cameroon) wasn't the one offside in this action that led to the goal, but the other striker I believe that was the late Rashidi Yekini, positioned at the far left of the screen, besides the late Tataw(Cameroon)
      He was the one offside when the ball came in. Back then when a striker and a defender were at the same line when the ball comes in, if the striker's shoulder or even his hand overlaps the defender, or the striker pulls back(like it is the case in this play) it doesn't matter who score the goal, it is an offside. They called it positioning offside.
      This rules has changed over time. I hope this helps.

    @ 20:27 - a perfectly placed cross and a perfect goal scored by Nigeria's Henry Nwosu just to be disallowed and ruled an an offside position by an incompetent linesman. That's one of the reasons why referees and linesmen from Africa are hardly chosen for FIFA World Cup.

      mistakes are normal mate. referees from other continents make mistakes too. recall Ghana vs Uruguay. Suarez cleared the ball beyond the line. instead of giving a goal the ref gave a penalty.

      Analysis on this 'Nigeria vs Cameroon' match is not exclusively for either a Nigerian or a Cameroonian to make. I'm neither from any the two countries.
      At least the important thing here is that the linesman's mistake is undeniable. The point is that as much as referees make mistakes in UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and AFC, only CAF make the most comical incompetent mistakes.

    @20:30 was a clean goal. Stop saying it wasn’t. It has nothing to do with the football rules those days.
    The ball was in the air, and the scorer placed himself in a good position and scored. Do you expect the scorer to stand in a position ??
    Stop making unfair judgements.
    Most of these referees and linesmen don’t see clearly, due to the Sun in the pitch.
    In Year 2000, Cameroon 🇨🇲 🇳🇬 Nigerian AFCON Finals … during the penalty kick… Nigeria was denied a clean goal , just because the ball came out of the goal post.

    • @anthonyowolabi
      @anthonyowolabi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I will not disagree with that.
      Cameroon are historically better than us at football. An all time Cameroon team will beat an all time Nigeria squad.
      I remember watching the 2000 final in lagos. Cameroon were coordinated. They bullied us in the middle, their wing - backs were full of pace and power with Olembe and Njitap. We couldn't even get a sniff of the football the majority of that first half.
      Eto'o is the quickest striker to latch on to a football I think I have ever seen apart from Micheal Owen and Eusebio [past videos]. He, [Eto'o], Obliterated us in that first half. He smacked our post, volleyed it towards goal, ran into the channels, out paced us. I don't think our back 2 were ready for all that.
      We should have been 4 0 down by half time. Watching the game from 88, we also didn't have the ball most of the game.
      Nigeria only have better overall talent than Cameroon but that does not make for a better team. Nigeria were always poor tactically. Not ready to make adjustments. Most games, Nigeria rely on talent alone.

      Cameroon is the god father of African footballer yet Nigeria has by far more football trophies than Cameroon. Or you think football starts and ends in afcon. Do you know that Cameron has no Fifa trophy in their cabinet? Talking about afcon finals, Nigeria was robbed on two occasions. The only clean win by Cameroon was in 1984 finals. Do you know that Cameroon hasn't defeated Nigerian in open play since 1988. Do you know that Cameroon hasn't won Nigeria in 20 years and has lost to Nigeria 2:1 at afcon 2004. 4:0 at world cup 2018 qualifier. 3:2 at afcon 2019. 2:0 at the just concluded afcon without Abubakar and Cameroon taking a single shot at the post. So much from God of African soccer. Cameroon only wins Nigeria through dubious officiating powered by Issa Hayatou, since he letf, Cameroon is yet to defeat Nigeria. Nigeria vs Cameroon head to head. Nigeria 13 wins, Cameroon 5 wins. 8 drawn games. Respect your masters in football. @@Passportbros8

      @sabtiy80 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both situations are horrible referee decisions.
      The keeper slaughtered Milla, like Schumacher in 1982, if the referee interfered there, the situation with the disallowed Nigerian goal would never happen.
      The keeper should have gotten the red card for that crime.
      By the way, I’m 100% unbiased, I like both teams and I’m not even African, I am Iraqi.

    • @sabtiy80

      To finish my thoughts, the Nigeria goal was 100% legit, no offside what so ever.
      But again, just before Cameroon should have gotten a penalty and a red card for the Nigerian keeper.
      At the end. HORRIBLE ref.

      Cameroon is the Godfather of african football. My friend. It took African nations EONS to do what cameroon did in 1990 world cup italia. This afcon has proven that cameroon knows how to win FINALS, while Nigeria knows how to win regular matches. Cameroon don't joke around when they get to finals. They win it. That's why they have 5 African cup of nation's. That's why cameroon took 3 afcons from Nigeria alone. I agree that Nigeria has talented footballing players. But you must admit that osimhem was a disappointment for Nigeria internationally. Done better by way of 2 dubious AFCON wins over Nigeria in 1988 and 2000 when they were awarded the trophy in a tournament they didn't win. That notwithstanding, Nigeria is overall a more accomplished football nation in Africa than any other country when it comes to the no of AFCON(3) WAFCON(11), men's senior Olympic gold, silver and bronze in 1996,2008 and 2016, world Cup second round for men thrice, u 20 silver twice, bronze once, u 17 trophy 5 times, first in the world, women's u20 silver and bronze at u 17 etc. No African country has accomplished half of that put on a scale irrespective of level or gender of competition, on a wholesale basis.

      One thing u all failed to understand is that,at the time up to 2006,football had different rules,if there is an offside player in the box and a ball comes in,is an offside,it doesn’t matter who touches it. That was the offside call in those days.

      To your point, rules were different then. Henry Nwosu wasn't the one outside in the action that led to the goal, but the guy on the far left of the screen, near to Tataw, I believe it was Yekini.
      He was the one offside when the ball came in. They called it positioning offside. Meaning if 2 players are at the same line, even if the stricker's shoulder or hand overlaps the defender, or the stricker pulls back, it doesn't matter if someone else scores. It's still an offside.

    Yeah! Apart from 3 genuine titles minus the 2 crooked ones they won off Nigeria, they lost to Egypt in d finals twice. Their women have been flogged more than 3 times in the finals of AWCON by The Super Falcons of Nigeria. The only final they won at the global stage was the Olympic soccer in 2000 but they are not good enough to smell any final at the global stage apart from that one, and I know that Nigeria has beaten them in the final of the African u 20 twice, Ghana once etc. Nigeria has won more finals than Cameroon, AFCON, 3 , WAFCON, 11,OLYMPIC soccer men, 1, African u 20 more than 7 times, U23 Africa,1, u 17 ,Africa more than 6 times, world u 17, 5 times.
