I had to come back and watch this wonderful match again, what a great players. Look at how eminent personalities filled up the stadium with so much love for African footballers. That was then not now. Memory....
This team put Nigeria on the world map. After the final win the team proceeded to USA for the world cup and herald Nigeria,s arrival on world stage of football and instantly became the darlings of football fans around the world. Corrupt NFF now cannot assembly quality team like this one. The Abacha era was truly the golden age of Nigerian football.
The last 15mins really was Zambia's. They came back with so much steam. Kalusha's strike would surely release tears in the eyes of many. The support from the crowd got many Nigerians uncomfortable. An equaliser would have turned the stadium upside down. A great match.
I was very small then watching this match seating on the floor watching on pure white TV now we own different types of TV we want, what a great memory to remember, am proud to be a Nigeria and am proud to be an African youth,RIP to those that participate on the match that died they worth to be celebrated
One of the greatest football game in the history of Africa. I remember vividly how I emotionally supported the Zambia team, but spiritually I was with the Super Eagles........am a Nigerian and we got a well deserved result.
I was in Secondary School form 2 by then. Our Ghana Blackstars were painfully eliminated by the Ivorian Team at the ¼ Finals just as they did to us in Senegal in 1992. Love to all the Nigerian and Zambian players. They made us proud.
what a moment 9:30 -- we were dreaming of the Cup coming home to Zambia! Congratulations to Naija, though. We supported your great team truly representing Africa at USA '94 and Atlanta '96.
Dr. Fred Hudson. In 1994 I was 15 living in Nairobi, Kenya. I was obsessed with the Super Eagles, in particular Daniel Amokachi, we share the same first name. Now am in Chicago and I can’t stop watching this game!
A match of Life Time. A similar match to Nigerian is with Italy, Roberto Baggio - My Favorite. NFA wake up, bring the likes of Coach Clement back. He knows Nigerian Streets where there are GREET PLAYERS. No doubts, Coach Clement is behind this Success. We, Nigerians Knows.

As an African football lover and follower, this was the golden generation of Nigerian 🇳🇬 football since 1990 to 2023. They could put another starting 11 and still win the AFCON. 🔥🔥🔥💖💖
I remember this match. Watched it on black and white tv sitting on the floor of a parked hotel reception area in Lagos. I was 14 then. The only time my dad would come with us cos we had no light and no petrol for the generator at home. Sonwe haf to find somewhere anyhow. We were all sweating. The whole place went upside down after the final whistle. Respect to the Zambian team though. I remember being afraid that they could score an equalizer in the dying minute and win on pens everytime they crossed into the box. Great match.
Just watching Zambia team B finishing strongly against the Abiola babes,I was 21yr by then, This was when football was teamwork ,still enjoying during lockdown 2020

The trusted double feet of ace attacking forward, the golden Emmanuel Amunike, it's innumerable how many times he has brought honor to his country and delivered when occasion rang alarm even far back when he was an eaglet.
A brand new Zambia team just a year after losing the national team in a plane crash in Gabon, but could even make it to the final. Great legendary teams, one love to both Zambia & Nigeria.. this match should unite the two nations.
It's by discipline ,the will to honour their late colleagues and sacrifice that they hd been able to make it to this far, that's why I prefer the local players than the professionals who played with fear of getting wounded
I was in grade 11 when this game was played. However football has evolved very much because tactics and technics have changed. You cannot compare this game to the 2012 final between Ivory coast and Zambia
Zambia had load's of talent, Nigeria wouldn't ve stood, the team that perished in Gabon, they did their best using a team B big ups the late team would ve reached far during world cup
well done zambia as u have grown bigger as a team u have now been able to win the 2015 african cupwhich is one of your futher achievements nigeria played very good this time but maybe next time we have a chance. go on Zambia!!
The great heroes of Zambia died in a air crash in 1993... only Kalusha Bwalya survived... the team that replaced them was a very strong youth team with a leader called Bwalia.
It may take Nigeria 3 decades to replicate such players. Emmanuel Amunike was arguably the best player in the squad. His quickness and incredible skills were what set him apart-just like Finidi George
The voice of broadcaster sounds like obviouslly classic. Also, I found that each single players more pay attention on dribbling rather than Pass work compare with this era.
It was a very nice game.Determination(Zambia) against Experienced Professionals(Nigeria)In the end experience won.One of the best final AFCON matches i have ever watched.
In the good olden days when Europen had not sunk in deep racism as we have now. I bet you today no African cup of Nations final will attract this huge publicity and dignitaries today. Just because of Europen union expansion to the eastern part of its continent
Thats correct, initially europeans were excited about africans. But the racism today was due massive illegal influx of refugees into their countries. Since Lybia was destroyed, a lot of africans have fled their home countries through Lybia, due to bad governance and chronic corruption. The two things ravaging africa till date.
I see Nigeria playing as a team and not a separate entity, unlike this day every player want to shine, we need a good finisher.... I hope the new breed of players will learn from them
This was a great final at El Menza Tunisia , we lost a game but there was so much commitment from both teams , this game always reminds of Emmanuel Amunike he registered his name when he equalised. bravo to both teams
