@10:00 stopped watching to comment. The tree up above the opening is the reason for the vein decomposing more. Dig it out from the top side. I think you could process the vein if your logistics make it possible? I’m just an outlaw hiding out in Kansas, but if I go to Colorado and come back I’ll be called a criminal! Yeehaw!
Definitely. The tree roots look to be growing in on the more decomposed gold vein that crops out at the surface. I would think that parts of this vein could definitely be worked topside!
You're not really showing good hardrock mining practices... You should have at least shown and explained your O² meter. Yes, I've been in lots of mines with small openings, but we always have at least one man out in case of trouble especially in decomposing areas like this one. Then we each carry our required O² meters because the oxygen can run out quickly inside with such small openings. Are there no dangerous gasses in your area to worry about killing you? Then when we find a paying amount and start working, we have 2 - 8" x 100' long forced ventilation fan set ups to provide clean air to the back of the mine from the outside.
They make a bore scope that connects to your phone with LED lights at the end and I have seen one that was 40 ft long but if it hits a rise in the ground it will stop going forward and you have to pull it back and start pushing it forward again. You can also take pics on your phone.

honest question; weve got coyotes and bears all over the place here. how tf do you make sure they're empty? if somethings in there, itll just keep backing into the cave.
Careful observation around the entrance of the mine will usually tell you if any large critters frequent the mine. Coyotes in particular will leave lines of worn foot trails and they mark the area before their den with scat and urine (it stinks). You can never be sure though. Just the thought of backing a mountain lion into a mine with no way out should be enough to deter most people from entering.
Amazing how similar the geology looks to one of the mines on the lower part of my hill in Queensland Australia. The mines on the upper part have much more serpentine, but this seems almost identical to the lower section. Annoyingly the only way in for me is through 20+ food deep vertical shafts as the original entrances have all been closed. When l first lowered a drone down into one it looked like a horror movie setting with spindly old dead trees that tried to grow inside and semi collapsed walls.
Sounds wild Matt! Hmm, my area also has greenstone above this mine and a few others. If you own the land, you might want to dig out one of the lower down adits so you can get in there safely.
@@ColoradoGoldCamp in the case of the one that this clip reminds me most of, that probably wouldn't be a bad idea. At worst it might make for a nice wine cellar, though being around half a mile from my house it may also help the wine last a bit longer. The one thing l don't know, but would love to, is when they were mining and why they stopped. Mining in the area started mid 1800's so it could easily have been a war shutdown and abandonment, in which case there may well be plenty of gold left in them. Long ago other mines in the area were abandoned due to excess water as they got deeper, even though they were getting better gold with depth, they just didn't have good enough pumps available back then.
I think that area is morehighgrade gold vein if that area is like in our are here in phillipines that mountain is destroyed by manual miners who is starved for gold
I actually believe that this particular hill/mountain could be mined on a large scale. They are vein systems but in this localized zone there are dozens of interwebbed veinlets can could likely be open pitted.
