These types of videos motivate me to get up and get busy! I am 68 and now that I am retired my yard has never looked better! But..it is hard work! This was amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

I am also 68 and get complimented all the time on how nice my yard looks. It looked as good even before I retired and I don't know how I did it, working full time plus a lot of overtime. Now that I'm retired, it is more tiring but still very satisfying. I keep it very low maintenance as far as plants and shrubs. They are all drought tolerant (no watering) and plants are ground cover, shrubs are dwarf (no trimming or dead heading).

I am also 68 and I hated yard work when I was 18, 28, 38, 48, 58, and still hate it and that is why I pay someone to do it. LOL Wish I did like it, but nope, not going to happen. Besides I have Hay Fever. Give me a dirty greasy car to work on and I am ok.

@@fredmaxwell9619 ... Why not do both? I'd rather work on my yard or "fix" cars - than waste time at a gym or just walking around the block ofr exercise.
There was a time when kids (teen-agers) would cut yards, trim shrubs, wash cars or trucks etc. Now they'd rather whine about - I can't find a job?

You did an exceptional job. It’s great that you actually picked up all of the grass and weeds instead of just mulching it into really small pieces and leaving it there, which so many landscapers do… even on TH-cam. That makes it look SO much better. That makes you an AAAA++++ landscaper in my book. When the grass is just mulched, ESPECIALLY when it’s that bad, you can’t help but drag it in the house every time you step in the yard. If the grass is kept short it’s not to bad but the first cut makes it horrible in the house. Otherwise you can’t step on it for the first few cuts when it’s left there.

It is expensive to dump lawn waste though in many towns and cities. Plus you have to use “special bags” in a lot of places which means you have to buy them. That’s why many folks don’t pick it all up unless they have a place to take it. Just depends on the person and location.

    • @renfairegoddess
      @renfairegoddess 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@coleengogerty3852 yup. That and mulching it into the lawn is better for the lawn in the long term.
I have just figured out the bagger on my riding mower, and will just slip the baskets on at the very edge of my front lawn so I don't have to sweep/blow the clippings anymore.
Only took me 2 years to figure out it wasn't working because it was clogged. Lol. I inherited the lawn AND the riding mower. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Before I saw beauty, life, multiple species of plants, nature thriving! Then came the "cleaning", destruction, elimination of life and many animal species that depended on these plants to survive. Funny how we praise more lifeless, barren, devestated landscape over the miracle of LIFE.
Please go back and view the before and after, and tell me which one truelly fills your heart. Imagine the scent of all that greenery after a rainfall, the sound of insects, the rustling leaves and how all this is calming and peaceful.
Please go back and view these images and try to embrace it this way.
    Thank you for your time.

Nicely done. Your work cleared the way so that the new folks can see the realities of their space. There’s quite a bit of cement hardscape; your work gave them a head start on being able to see the real bones of the area.
Going forward this could become an attractive space. My thought was that a whole lot of Roundup would be needed to gain real control over the space and then some really interesting plantings could come in over time.
Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Your work is a real gift to the new owners.

Much nicer. I'm not sure I'd have walked in the backyard with all that grass. Footing looked unsure at best. Nice job.

"NEW" homeowners?? They bought this mess. The house must be absolutely fabulous. With renters lack of maintenance I sincerely doubt it. Must have gotten a real bargain.

Tough cut there in the back. But the after picture looked great. I always wonder why people let their fences get so covered up with brush like that... Thumbs Up!

Here's a possible tip~ Our city provides free pickup for anything outdoor related , grass, bushes, etc. Lowes, Menards and other stores sell those brown paper bags for lawn cleanups. Five for around $2 or so. Find out if your city does free pickup. You could use those bags and then set them to the curb at a clients house and they city will pick them up for free. Our city is now monitoring them because they throw them all in a truck and take them to the local shredder to grind up for mulch, which they give away free also. People have put in a regular electric iron (to iron clothes) and other metals so it breaks the teeth of the shredder. The bags state it's outside refuse only so they are picking up some bags and cutting them open right at your property. If they find something, you will be cited and it's a $1,000 fine.
Good job on that lawn. If it was me, as a homeowner, I'd measure up on the left and right and place white gravel so I didn't have to mow those tiny slopes.

Wow. Very empressive! You did a very detailed job but you made it look so easy. It turned out beautifully. I hope you have a hot tub to enjoy this evening and an ice cold beer. Thankyou for helping others in need and for making your community look so nice.

Have to watch your videos on silent... that leaf blower and your mower on high speed is lethal on my old eardrums! 😂

Armed with only a weedwacker for this job, and unable to use a lawn mower for most of the job, you still did a phenomenal job of taming that backyard. And this was in an urban locality where you can’t just dump off the clippings. And the back yard was at a steep incline. Color me impressed. I”m sure the homeowners were impressed as well.
