The main thing for me...someone else uses the Korg nano kontrol for their CC. I feel validated

I was wondering what that was!
I had my nanoKontrol laying around for years. Even before knowing where I was going to use it for now. Seeing all these professionals using it is a weird concept to comprehend for some reason.
What a SUPERB breakdown of this beastly opening!! Especially love the interplay between brass and strings, heard isolated. BUMPS OF GOOSENESS!!!! And breakdown of the percussion layers... among a billion other things... Thanks for this "under the hood" adventure!!!
I love Jeff because he is a guy that can be anyone else, just a regular guy that love music and do awesome stuff. Seeing him working in his studio, talking so humbly it really inspired me. Thanks Spitfire
We need to see him talking about Umbrella academy. His work on that show is very simple and almost entirely based around 3-4 main motifs. But it work so well.

Great insight, thanks Jeff and Spitfire. Really important to hear honest interviews with real reflections on the process. Jeff seems like a nice, genuine person....which is the only way to be.
Great vid!! Love that Jeff mentions how long (timewise) it takes to compose/produce an average cue. I would love to see/hear how Jeff uses some of his outboard gear.

Nice work Jeff, I like the fact you started out as a drummer. I tend to think rhythmically first with my own stuff. Illuminating & revealing interview, it's definitely not mush! Please do some more breakdowns of your work..

If you use nVidia video card, you can stretch the TV monitor to fit properly in the nVidia settings! (not sure if you actually need to know that), but it was something I noticed in the beginning. What a great video!

Awesome interview! Are those widescreen iPads above his keyboard??? What tablets are those?
Patrick Rose looks like an iPad Pro 12.9” on the left. The perspective of the camera makes it hard to judge if the tablet on the right (below his name card) is the same size. The white unit below the iPad Pro 12.9” that he uses for Expression is a KORG nanoKontrol 2, and a standard Apple wireless keyboard to the right of that.
What’s he using on the iPads?

I did some poking around to find out for myself. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's the Korg nanoKontrol2 Slim Line USB MIDI Controller.

I see that he's using Pro Tools. Has MIDI in Pro Tools become better over the years? Back in the day, people thought Cubase and Logic had many more MIDI features. And is it easy now to do everything in say Logic first and then convert the MIDI into audio tracks in Pro Tools in case the production company wants it delivered as a Pro Tools session?

Okay, Mr. Russo, Erich Korngold established the baseline for cinematic brass writing in the 30's. Not Goldsmith OR John Williams. In fact, the original Star Wars main theme is a nearly direct lift from Korngold's "King's Row".
