Excellent learning for me ! Thanks ! How to deal with the same technique on copper and brass ? I am an ‘intermediate beginner’ and not on to silver yet but these silver solder joints on copper/brass always stand out and i’d love to find a way to make them less visible.

    Mr. Berry ,
Thank you so very much for making another wonderful video. A near college education in Art for free to people may not be able to pay for one. Bravo !

What is a buff stick? Can you remove the very thin layer of solder off of copper without damaging the surrounding copper? What grit is best for removing solder smear off of surrounding copper. Someone had tried to fill a seam on an antique piece and I'm trying to remove the solder which required a torch to melt the blobs but I'm left with the lighter spots that wouldn't just wipe off when hot.

I wonder if he might ever do a medium sized "beard bead" as a jewelry as either wax or metal?

Thank you for all your videos Andrew. These help to keep me indoors during lockdown. In this video I did not notice what grit of paper was used on the buff stick. I am guessing it is 600 grit emery paper? I also wonder if solder could be used on vintage, worn out silver-plated jewellery to mask the areas where the plating has rubbed- off...

Hi Andrew! I'm a big fan of your videos and the way you teach! I don't have (yet) a big atelier, so I'm using the small brushes to polish and the red paste. The problem is that it does a huge mass, all gets red in the room. Do you recomend another paste to polish other than the red one? Ah, it's for silver! Thank you very much!

    Hi Andrew,
How would you go about filling a holled coin?
I see many silver coins that have had holes filled with Solder without damaging the coin further.
    Thank you.

I have watched all your videos. They are amazing!!!! Love everything you do. Then I tried to solder a sterling silver ring (10 gauge wire). I used regular paste flux around the area, and a small piece of medium solder. It doesn’t work, I kept using the tourch fire around the ring for more than 2 min, the flux dries, the solder gets black and falls. I tried 5 times , the silver is changing shape but the solder doesn’t melt and flows like in your videos.
I was so excited to get started but now I ’m so disappointed. I have no idea why it’s not working. Any advise?

The same thing was happening to me, turns out the piece wasn't getting hot enough quick enough and so the flux was drying out and the solder was oxidizing and could no longer flow. What kind of torch are you using? I just use a little butane torch and I solved the issue by making sure its always topped up with the butane otherwise the flame wasn't hot enough.

That is just it. What you said right at the end. There are so many ways to approach a task, depending on the circumstances. So one has to be aware of as much as possible in order to be equipped with the right approach at a given time.
That is why watching these films more than once is an excellent thing to do. In my own experience. Cheers Andrew.

Andrew, I love your videos! I find that every time I search something...you have at least one or several video on that topic!! I would like to request you make a video of fusing. Specifically fusing gold to silver/sterling silver....gold 16/18 gauge wire or small plate to the same gauge or thicker silver/sterling silver sheet.

Dear Teacher : I am fascinated with your most interesting videos. As an amateur Jack of all tardes i find them very useful to learn different techniques. The only thing I can not understand is your use of those ugly buffstlcks so different from your beautiful and well kept tools which seem to be surgical instrumentos. Greetings from faraway Patagonia

Sandpaper doesn't last very long, so you are likely to occasionally scratch or damage the stick so why bother with a pretty stick?
