    I was at a store in Manhattan with my grandma that really over priced their coins. the ancient roman coins were thousands of dollars, while in Europe you can get the same coins for the equivalent of $5

    OMG!! I went to a Coin store today! They had a bin of dated Buffaloes for 75 cents, Indian head penny's for $1.00, V nickels for $1.00, and barber dimes for $3.50, and steel penny's for 15 cents, I got 17 steel, complete proof set of 1982 penny's, and a unsearched roll of wheat penny's for $2.75, and 10 dated Buffaloes. I know the "" unsearched "" roll of wheats might be a rip off but I'm doing a experiment.

    • @QuinsCoins
      @QuinsCoins  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have people bring coins to me at the bank fairly often and it’s painful to tell them that there coins are worth face value. Especially, with all the modern dollar coins. It’s hard to know when you are getting a good deal on a coin! Do you research before buying and know your price range!

    that penny is a 1971 English penny. is very good condition they are worth a little bit more than face value, but they are relatively common. i have found 10 in the past 8 months and the 1971 2p coins are ridiculously common.

    Coin books are really extra high in price, I paid from a flea market .50 each for buffalo nickels so bought over a hundred of then, I bought a full folder of Indian pennies in the 1800 and 1900's for 1.00 to 1.20 each and I get Unc coins pretty cheap and some free

  • @mexicounexplained
    @mexicounexplained 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Taking my lunch break, enjoying my California rolls with the Quin boys and hoping that my little side coin business doesn't make the video...
    Whew! I am safe. :-) Some comments...
    You would be surprised what people will pay for common coins. I was selling Kennedy halves and dollar coins for anywhere from $4 to $8 apiece on Listia up until they changed over to cryptocurrency about a month ago. The value of anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
    When I was 11-12 years old in 1980 (yes, I'm old) silver was almost $50 per ounce. That 1943-S half dollar was probably priced at that time, as the holder looks like it is about 38 years old. Older coins were priced higher than melt value in anticipation that the price of silver would go even higher (I remembered it took me a lot of lawns to mow to earn enough money for one coin). Hard to believe silver was so high so long ago, but you can read about the Hunt Brothers online.
    One last thing: Is Kevin okay? Maybe I'm wrong, but he is looking a little pekid in this video. Maybe you guys were up late or something.
    Thanks for another entertaining and fun video. Lunch break over.

    • @QuinsCoins
      @QuinsCoins  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I want to meet a person who pays that kind of money for a common coin and ask them what they're thinking. That does explain the high price tag on the walker. And yeah Kevin's fine lol

    • @mexicounexplained
      @mexicounexplained 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to meet a person who pays that kind of money for a common coin because I can tell you the reasons why. Most of the people who buy those types of coins from me are from what we, "the coastal elites" (*bleh*) call "flyover country." They are from teeny-tiny towns in America's Heartland far from any big bank or anyplace where they can get their hands on a Kennedy or a golden dollar. They usually buy the coin for a birthday or anniversary ("My grandkid was born in 2005..."). Believe me, the people in these small towns really like to chat it up and tell me why they are buying from me, and that is fine with me because I like to listen and understand. Just today on Listia I sold a 1980-D Susan B for $3.50, and yesterday I sold a golden 2007 John Adams for $6.83. Last year I turned a $500 box of halves, slowly but surely, into a little over $3,300.00. As I said before, it is all about what someone is willing to pay for an item. You also have to find the right venues on which to buy and sell. Two weeks ago I sold an 1860-O silver dollar for $417.00. I thought I would be lucky if I got $200.00 for it. You never know.
      P.S. Glad Kevin's fine. :-)

  • @araymond1able
    @araymond1able 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    As far as the so called "Unsearched" coins. The Sellers know they searched, Ebay knows they searched and most people know they searched but people still buy them. It is a sucker buy for the last 50 years. Any seller that states Unsearched I would never buy anything from them. Shows what kind of people they are. Anything for a buck. Good that you get through to others that may not know these things. Tks......
