Themes were from back in the day when Maxis/EA still had servers up for Spore and you could encounter other peoples' creations as some of the random creatures that would populate your game. You could choose to have your own or friends' creatures, they could be drawn randomly from all of the creatures out there, you could make custom themes with whatever creatures you choose for that theme, or just the basic Maxis pack that came with the game. It was something like that, it's been so long I can hardly remember the details of it. It was a neat idea, and it was as close as Spore ever got to multiplayer, but when EA pulled the plug on the servers, it killed the ability for other peoples' creations to appear in your game, and thus themes.

Encountering the Grox in the creature stage is one of the most distressing and terrifying things even though they can't actually hurt you yet.
Freezing up as some bizarre temporal "memory" of the future falls into your tiny brain and tells you that this species strikes dread into all who see it millions of years in the future
i miss this game... i wish EA would let it go to another company that would do it good... we need a spore 2

Mods are .package files and they go inside both DATA and DATA1 folders located in your install path for the game.

If you select a theme for a spore run, it will be placed into that theme. Then you can pick a theme of your choice for another run, and only creations you've made within that theme will show up in that run. If you don't set/choose themes, the game draws from everything you've created. Or so I have read.
9:24 dilophosauros did infact have poisonous spit tho it most likely did not posses frills like it does in Jurassic world and Jurassic park

nice vid! also it’s very possible to kill epics, but you usually want to befriend at least 2 rogues to do so
1:20 - Theme: - If you have created or downloaded a collection on the sporapedia, you can select it as a theme. This will load you game with items from your theme.
So, if you added all of your snake themed creatures, vehicles, and buildings. Then selecting that as a theme should (in theory) make them populate in the game.
Using themes you can create worlds that are primarily plant life, primarily, reptiles, etc.

If you kill an epic on the creature stage you "Epic Killer" If you kill an epic on the creature stage you will get an achivement "Epic Killer". The easiest way to do this is to use a ranged attack (such as poison spit). Lure the epic to the nest and attack with the whole herd. Stand at a distance and spit poison. The nest will automatically heal the wounded.

I'm not sure if it had webbed feet but the missing dino at 23:21 ish could be Baryonyx as it lived quite an aquatic lifestyle? Though I'm not sure if things like feet webbing fossilize particularly well, I'm not an expert lol

Awesome creation. You seem to know how evolving and adapting works better than I do. But you became a predator because you did not do enough socialising. But honestly, I often try to play as an omnivore, because it makes tribal stage that little bit easier when it comes to gathering food. Also. Those epics you saw in this playthrough can be killed towards the end of the tribal stage, and definitely killed in the civilisation stage. Lastly, I think Beastmaster may allow you to tame an epic. I don't really know. I haven't played Spore for quite some time. I really should try to make a species during my playthroughs, instead of just creating creatures in the creator mode. But creator mode is pretty good because there is a chance your creations will appear in your playthrough, and I make some amazing creations.

There's no current way to know for sure if dinosaurs had venom or poisons, it's incredibly rare for soft tissues to fossilise and when they do it's always external features like skin. But honestly there almost definitely were some, poisons and venoms show up all over the tree of life, it's hard to imagine that with a group as successful and diverse as the dinosaurs that at least one family didn't develop it.

Fyi, I think you press ‘backspace’ to call for a mate. You should be able to do that even if the “call for mate” button doesn’t appear on screen.
I’m slightly offended by your claim of Spore Godhood. I’ve killed Epics in creature stage. I’ve killed several Epics. It’s not easy, but it can be done. Also, I have yet to see you befriend rogues and ally with them. When you do this and they are still alive when you progress to tribal stage, the rogues become your tribe’s pets, providing you with quick and easy eggs.
