James Galway was my first experience of the flute, because my parents had an album of his flute music on vinyl. I liked the album cover because it showed him playing a gold plated flute, which inspired me to learn the instrument. I'm very glad to have found this video on TH-cam, because I recognise the piece, and it reminds me of listening to flute music on vinyl as a young child. I took up the flute at 9, and reached grade 7. I was lucky to have the opportunity and perseverance to keep it up! 😋

Solid gold, not gold plated :-)

🥳Wondering if the drop of an octave 4 measures from the end was a deliberate way to take a deep breath in order to hold on to the 13 beats of high A to phase it out from P down to nothing!

Thank you so much for posting this! I absolutely love this piece and it is beautifully played, here, by these three excellent musicians. I have heard many versions of this, and it always strikes me that the final movement is way too fast. Am I the only who feels this? Is it actually written at this speed?

Obviously very good but the mixed vibrato between them sounds very strange. Also a few mistakes at the end which was surprising!

@@callum.ewen4 I did read that and therefore my answer. Was it a surprise that there was a few mistakes in a live performance? Because that's the message when you write "Also a few mistakes at the end which was surprising!" 🤷🏻‍♀️

James Galway messed up a note! Plus it sounds strange as Andrea is using a lot of vibrato and he is barely using any.
