Beautiful message. This morning I had a little bad news. I'm in the city of my birth, where I was baptised, celebrated by first holy communion, started school before moving away. I felt drawn to go to the Cathedral which is where the old church of my childhood stands to pray and contemplate what to do about my news. As it turns out they are having an anointing Mass this afternoon. Perfect. The Lord lead me to where I need to be.
@robertstephenson6806That is so beautiful what you wrote I wish you would write more so I could read more I wish you were on TH-cam so I can follow your wrong thank you so much and God be with you God bless you
I really needed to hear this. I am often confused as to whether God is speaking to me or I'm speaking to myself. Lord help me to know you when you speak.
If it's answering a question, or solving a problem....then it's probably God! I find God gives me insights for problems or questions I have. There are also times when I have a wrestling question and I'll turn on EWTN and bingo...there's Mother Angelica discussing the very subject.
That little voice in your head is usually His breath....breathe it all in.
@@sleepinglioness5754 Thank you for your insight. Will take it all in.
You are speaking to yourself, but you know what kind of things your god might say to you (if he was real)
@@davepugh2519 Please, if you don't believe, keep your comments to your self.
Good reminder. Listen for the still small voice. God bless.🙏❤️
You are right. We can also hear an actual audible voice. It happened to me twice in my life. ( no I'm not crazy) a person has to learn to to be open to events that are normally missed. We dismiss many things because we have been programmed by the material world to ignore things everyone else says is impossible.
The Acts of the Apostles may be over, but the Acts of the Lord's Disciples go on! What a great story about how the Lord spoke to you and led you to help that young man. This made me think of 1 Kings 19:11-12. Remember that passage? The Lord didn't speak in the strong wind that split the mountains and broke the rocks. He didn't speak in the earthquake, or the fire. Rather, the Lord spoke with a still small voice. We have to listen very intently to hear Him, don't we?
Even though it’s difficult I keep faith because I know God is real. I trust in you Father and keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children. The past two years have been hard on me. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack and I’m battling lupus. Both of my sons are autistic and to be honest Heavenly Father I’m so overwhelmed. I’m constantly struggling financially to buy groceries and struggling to pay my rent and now that I’m home schooling my sons I’m struggling to buy their school supplies. I want to give up. But even in hard times I know I must choose to have faith. No matter our struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. I Trust in YOU LORD PLEASE HEAR MY PRAYERS!
Crying now. For the longest time, I always thought and feared this. Many I have met that heard God with such specificity. Will God ever do so for me? I asked for intercession on this at a Conversion Experience Retreat that just ended yesterday and this turned up in my feed! Praise God for He is Good! He hears my cry.
I am learning to decipher when I hear from God; it tends to feel like something ‘just’ occurred to me. It’s a prompt.
Yes!
I believe that God, the Blessed Mother, or Angels can speak to us in a dream. That is what happened to me when my son and I were in extreme danger. I had been praying for evidence and a way to safety. Several times answers or suggestions would come to me in a dream. Acting on these dreams led me to evidence and safety. I know they were from God, as my son and I are both safe and alive today 25yrs later and both strong Catholic prayer warriors.
He spoke to me that my son would die so I went and bought a black shirt. A few months later the police mistakenly shot him dead. He was unarmed.
@@eduardohoover2127 I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your pain. I will pray for you and your son. 💜🙏
@@dianefrank3688 I can't imagine how bad it could have been if God didn't warn me. I tried to warn my son but his lifestyle put him in the sights of a policeman's gun though he had no warranted punitive reason to be dead. I hope he made peace with God before he passed or is safe in Purgatory. Thank you for your prayers. He is a junior, my only son, father to three of my grandchildren.
@@eduardohoover2127 My son is also my only child. He lost his wife 6yrs ago and has no children so he lives alone in their home about 5 miles from me. I will put you in my prayer journal and pray for both you and your son. Again my heart goes out to you and his extended family. God Bless🙏
@@dianefrank3688 not to compete with your son but to give him encouragement: I lost two wives before I reached 50. I know how difficult it is to lose a wife and raise children on your own. The loneliness is bitter but solitude is golden. Life goes on but never let it without you across the dance floor and it's times like these you must dance with our Lord, trusting Him to do the leading.
I used to wonder what it meant when people would say "the Lord spoke to me"
I understood after I started really getting back into the Word on a daily basis and He would speak to me through dreams or thoughts.
I used decernment to make sure it was from the Lord.
God is so good and faithful!!
my gosh! this happened to me. one night as i was praying alone (since my husband was on night shift) i prayed the Holy Rosary first, then before i proceed to the Divine Mercy chaplet, i said "ok, Lord. now i will pray the Divine Mercy" then i heard inside my head "KNEEL."
i answered, "i do not actually kneel while praying at home?" then i realized it was HIM. so i kneeled ✝️🙏
I've been very blessed to "hear" Our Lord. I ask Him questions and He answers me, not big and thunderous way. In fact, I many times forget the question I've asked, but when He answers me I remember it immediately!
Mr. Cavins you explained God's "voice" so well. It's like a whisper...a quiet sound. I always say it's The Holy Spirit talking to me. I tried to explain it to my grown children and I wonder if they think I'm getting "soft" in the head, lol.
God Bless 😃
He speaks to us today through his word.
There was just 1 instance when it happened to me - when i was asked to an activity that has never entered my sphere of interest before and by a colleague that I normally wouldnt fraternise with, and i said yes (not usual of me) and met someone who became very significant to me. Even though we aren't together anymore, the lesson from that stayed with me. Was that God speaking? Maybe.
Thank you so much for this. I really needed it. I was having a panic attack last night and crying out to God because He seems so far away.😢 I will try to keep it in my heart that there are a lot of ways with which God speaks to us. ❤
Also.... 1 Kings 19:11-13 ... God's still, small voice certainly does speak to us today in our hearts and minds! ❤️🙏🏼🕊🙌🏼
A beautiful way I've been led to discern if a thought is in fact God speaking to me is to prayerfully consider the fruits of that 'thought' in order to discern the Source of it or I've prayfully considered the two choices ie. To act on it or to set it aside, and that usually results in one of the options bringing peace and joy and light, and the other option feels stressful and dark. I hope and pray that helps! 🙏🏼🕊🙏🏼
I've experienced that thousand times. And when I purposefully don't obey the thought, I get in trouble, and sometimes end up following it. Still, not all thought is from God. But the more we obey, the more He speaks. Thank you for the teaching. God bless you!
Good message. The simplest and most direct way to hear from God is to read His word. Always remember that if you have a thought that contradicts the word of God, that thought is NOT from God.
When I read the Bible I feel that I am hearing from Iron-Age goat herders who didn't even know where the sun went at night.
God always shows the right way even he doesn’t speak.
He speaks out loud to me and has since I was six years old. 😊❤
I once needed to go to Confession before Easter, but I didn't know when my parish offered it. One Sunday I left the church after Mass but a few meters away I felt called to turn back and enter again. I did and a lady I know and to whom I had asked the week before immediately came up to me and told me that they offered Confession on Holy Saturday.
Thanks!
Yes I find Gods voice is usually very peaceful and quiet. I often here his voice in this way in adoration.
This is exactly how I imagined some of the Bible being written as Holy people heard God's voice - thanks for the confirmation!
God spoke to me audibly February 5th 2022 7:30 am 2times. Repeated himself. He said resist the devil and he will flee. I didn’t know it was James 4:7 at the time. I do now. Being someone who’s met Jesus Christ 1 time I believe he was angry with me and by doing so he spoke audibly. My dogs did not hear him. But I sure did. He’s got my full attention.. long long story but yes he can speak audibly to us but we need to hear the still small voice…. Over anxiety and fear. Thought I’d share. God bless
Yes Jeff I totally agree. It’s happened to me as well and more than once.
I wish I had an experience where I was certain the Lord spoke to me. I wish I could feel God’s presence in my life altogether.
I think we have all become accustomed to imagining that all the impulses in our thoughts are generated by our own minds. But CS Lewis puts it like this - as a sort of proof if God - that in a situation of life and death, for example, where we have a choice of actions - 1.) risk our own life to save another or 2.) run away to preserve our own life, an evolutionary science -minded person might say that the human being naturally has both these instincts, because in the first case, he needs to preserve the species so that is a kind of hereditary ‘group think’ and in the second case, as an individual, he wants to avoid harm and potential death. Natural enough. But into the mix comes a third voice - a voice which tells you what is RIGHT… to save the life of your fellow. And this voice can’t come from the same place as either of the other voices, as it overrides the reasoning of both of them. (I’m using my own words here - apologies to CS Lewis ) but the point is that God does speak to us all the time, but we have become very good at tuning Him out. It may be that you are so good at listening to Him, you don’t hear Him, like a much loved clock, ticking away in the background. It may be you can practice listening to Him. He will be there - suddenly you will know, and it will make you cry for joy! 🙏❤️🙏 CSLewis ‘Mere Christianity’ is still in bookshops, and a very good read!
Why not just accept that god is imaginary and get on with just being the best person you can be.
@@davepugh2519 so because you’ve accepted God is imaginary, that means I should as well?
Of course not. You should consider all the possibilities, that's all.@@markantonelli53
Thank you, I always wondered about this to.
Are we listening God does talk to us , He has no favourites❤️🙏🏻
Then why did he have a 'chosen people', whom he protected. He also helped them to kill other people, who were not so favoured.
He still does, to some people. He spoke out loud to my friend clear as day about 20 years ago
I just found you and subscribed! You are easy on the ears and i enjoy listening to you. You even make me laugh. Thank you...❤
My Pastor Kenneth Copeland has lots of these experiences .
Wow! This was exceptional! VERY beautiful! Needed to be said. Thank you for your story! God Bless!
God went home.
A sensible take on things. This is one of those "gotcha" questions people who don't believe in God have pulled out on me. I wasn't even a practicing Catholic the last time a young man played that card. We were walking back to work from lunch when the subject of God came up. Like I say, I wasn't attending church at that time but I was still praying, my whole "spiritual not religious" kick. Anyway, after he pointed out my shortcomings and I told him why I still prayed, the subject of does God speak back came up. He used to talk to people all the time my friend said. Why did He suddenly go silent? I asked him if God did speak to him would he accept it as God and he said no. Then how do you know He never has spoken to you I asked? That stumped him for a bit. Then I said okay, let's play it out assuming you're right. Let's say God stopped talking to people. He spoke to the prophets, what happened to them? He then sent His Son and how did we treat Him? Would you blame Him if He said you know what, the ball is in your court now?
Anyway, that's just one story. God has spoken to me, through my Guardian Angel, sometimes he speaks directly to me I think. It's direct when it is so loud it cant be dismissed, or if I did, I paid a steep a price. Keep listening, He's always there and He has great stuff to pass along to those who want to hear it. But that's the trick isn't it? Stay strong.
This has really helped me to to trust that a particular thought was God asking me to do something- God bless you 🙏🏽
Truly enjoying your videos and insights, Jeff. God love you.
The "prompting" of the Holy Spirit is always fruitful, and always worth the "trouble."
I completely agree, Jeff!!!

I had to hear this one!
Thanks for your message. God does speak to us today through his prophet Russell M. Nelson. His prophet spoke to the world last April and will do so again this October.
Mega Epic. Thank you. Just a few times I have heard a deep voice in my head, so very quick that I woke up from sleep or a day dream thinking WHAT WAS THAT? God? Imagination? Oh well now I think it might have been God. Cool. Thank you.
Though I don't know what he said. Next time perhaps.
How do you differentiate the Spirit from your own internal dialogue?
Thanks for sharing! You left out that for some plus 33 years God spoke to people in the person of Jesus yet not always plainly. I believe it's much more than a thought but God truly speaks to the spirit of man because He is Spirit. He who has an ear; hear.
Many of times crucial in my life I have heard the words of God and His mother. It has always been a much spiritual awakening. As St Teresa of Ávila says of such locutions, their origin will be observed whether the person exudes a behavior of pride or the essence of humility. Pride comes from the evil one and humility comes from God. Many say they hear from God and become prideful and lead many astray. Martin Luther, other reformers and self proclaimed theologians.
God is speaking to me right now and telling me I need to go to bed.

I’m just about at the end of reading the bible (for the first time). I always hear people say study the scriptures. So my question is; is every word of the Bible considered scripture? Sorry if this is a silly question.🤷🏼♀

Yes, for a Catholic, all 73 books of the Bible are considered scripture.
No question is silly. They are all important to our spiritual growth. 😇
Thank you😊@@trudyfriedrich7416
The ‘Angel Of The Lord’ = God’s Holy Spirit! 🕊️ (P.S. Thoughts Can Be infiltrated By Satan - When God Spoke To Me It Wasn’t Just ‘A Thought’!)
its a mysterious phenomena, believing a invisible god is speaking .
it is unsettling that millions believe these claims.
My previous reply was meant for the "friendly neighborhood " anti catholic who is trolling again.
People in the Bible to whom God spoke were generally people intent on serving God. They were attuned to God. Thus, they could hear him. (There are notable exceptions, such as Job, and Paul, before he became an Apostle)
We don't listen for God's voice. He may be saying a lot of things, but we ignore him for the World.
There are no coincidences.
In Acts 8 Phillip is told "go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza" That isn't a vague, ambiguous thought. Read 1 Samuel 3 first paragraph for clarification.
God did speak in an audible voice far more often before our repeated disrespect for His covenant, His hatred of idolatry, and our ignoring His everyday Laws. Read Ezekiel to find that He took His word from us on the tenth day of the tenth month of the ninth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity.
If one is not fluent in the Old Testament, one has no chance of understanding the New.
I hope 1 Samuel 3 makes it clear that "The Lord spake unto . . ." means the Lord spake in a literal, and audible voice heard in the ear of Samual, so much so that Samual mistook it for a man, Eli calling to him from the next room. I hope this is obvious to readers.
@@jerrywickeyidk there have been a few times I swear I heard someone call my name, when no one has done so...
Sure. But if the voice you heard was God, do you really think He just gave up after you didn't find him? @@KillerofGods
In the Old Testament God was visitational. He spoke audibly and gave physical signs to people. During the 40 years in the wilderness the spirit of God was in the tabernacle. That all changed when Jesus died on the cross. The veil was torn in two and the separation between God and man was bridged by Christ. We are born again and are new creations 2 Corinthians 5:17. We have an inner spirit man and the trinity now lives on the inside of us. God is habitational now not visitational. It is as it was at first with Adam & Eve before original sin. God now speaks to us through our conscience, His word, your spirit and through the Holy Spirit. If you hear the audible voice of God today, and I have twice in my life, it is for correction as it was in my case.
What is that wird figure behind your back
Humans have never heard God's voice at any time. Jesus made this clear at John 5:37.
Hebrews 1:1 tells us that God used various means to speak to humans.
Can you explain the next line, 38?
@@cecilecoonrod4146 :(John 5:38) and you do not have his word residing in you, because you do not believe the very one whom he sent.
Jesus told the Jewish leaders that they do not have God's word residing in them. Not that they didn't have God's word given through Moses and the prophets.
They just didn't believe it.
John 5:46 In fact, if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe what I say?”
Jesus was SENT by God to carry out God's Will.
If the Jewish leaders didn't believe in Moses and what he wrote, how would they believe in Jesus whom Moses wrote about.
See Deuteronomy 18:18.
God does not speak! No matter what you say. David’s family was kidnapped. He prayed and received an immediate, concrete, detailed answer. Try that today. He told Moses, Noah, Samuel, Job, the Prophets, David, etc his specific plan. Today we have no idea. It’s not fair!
I’m continually amazed (and frankly concerned) that people think god is speaking to them. Ancient people ascribed this kind of thing because they truly didn’t understand the world or their own psychology. But it’s long past time to move on from this silly, backwards way of believing.
No surprise that imaginary things don't speak out loud at all. Christians do like to make up excuses for why their god never shows up anymore too.
Amzingh how this god supposedly healed people too, and that doesnt' happen anymore either. Just right when people started questioning the validity of these religions and their myths.
In the old testament, it was the angel of the Lord, in the new testament, it's the Holy Spirit. This guy doesn't understand the difference, nor does he know anything much to be teaching anything. For him it is all rumor and supposition and I suppose it could have been. The Angel of the Lord is not the same thing as hearing the Lord's voice.
God speaks to prophets... in old times and today. Your sect lacks prophets, apostles, and the Priesthood necessary.
Way to mislead people. God and the Holy Spirit speak through scripture, your story helps no one
