    I feel both privileged and kind of sad i grew up during the 80's/90's. Privileged because it was a special time, and sad because its over and the days are def not what they used to be, i miss them so much. Yes, the concerts were exactly like you see in the videos. Big stages, big hair ( both the musicians and the crowd ) and big pyrotechnics. The absolute best years of my life. Now im old, broken and tired, but glad i lived when i did, the most special time in music.

    This has always been my favorite Bon Jovi song. Often, people get this song confused and think he's talking about being with another woman because he mentions his "mistress" and how tonight "he won't be alone." It's actually referring to his career being his mistress and how it takes him away from the woman he loves and wants to be with. When he says he won't be alone, that's the reference to the audience. Such a beautiful song, and you're right, his vocals are incredible on this track! 🥰⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️

      Na but as far as i know: the morning after he cheated, sitting at the piano in his hotel room, he started writing this song as apology to his wife. I can be wrong, but thats what i know from this song

  • @kristiefreeman5177
    @kristiefreeman5177 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +96

    A song that Jon wrote for his wife. He sleeps on a bed of nails because it is like torture being away from her. Some people think he is referring to cheating, but the blond giving him nightmares is his guitar and his "mistress" is the stage. Richie's vocals and guitar with Jon's vocals were always magical! If you want to see an absolutely awesome live performance, I suggest Dry County from Live at Wembley 1995! Jon's powerful and emotional vocals with Richie's guitar...amazing! The whole band kills it!

    I believe he wrote this song for his wife Dorthia who he’s still married too. When he quit touring he started a foundation to help those in need. He owns a restaurant in New York and anyone is allowed to come in, if you can’t pay your bill you can wash dishes, sweep floors etc. and dinner is on him. He also spends time there prepping for meals, cleaning toilets, bussing tables. Just a great guy

    Gosh…. They were so young there. Grew up a few towns over from him. Talking about the vocals…. Understand that Jon always sings with Ritchie (lead guitar). Watch the video again, Ritchie is always there. As Jon’s grown older and Ritchie is no longer touring, the live performances have suffered. But gosh, back in the day…. Jon’s live performance was stellar. And yes, their concerts were the best music .. ever!

    Unfortunately, many fans have sort of turned on Jon after many years of his singing voice deteriorating. To the point that many claim that his former lead guitarist Richie Sambora (seen in this video) has always been the better singer. Both were equally great in their primes, but it's no coincidence that the backup singer has been able to maintain his voice better throughout their careers. Songs like this are reminders that Jon was a deserving lead vocalist of the band.

    This is one of the best power ballads ever written, and a huge hit for the band. Jon was at his peak of writing here, and when he wrote this song, he hit an absolute home run. This song is so special to so many people, as the words are so powerful and meaningful, and people interpret it to fit their own lives. It is a timeless song, and just as impactful now as it was when it was released. Jon Bon Jovi will go down as not only a great singer and entertainer, but his song writing is brilliant, and to me, this is his best work. Great reaction to an absolutely beautiful song

    GNR was the best of the hair bands. But there's a reason Bon Jovi had the most staying power and remained relevant in the music scene well into the 2000s.

He had had one of the best "voices of the 80's 90's and 2000's in my opinion!! You really need to check out "Wanted Dead or Alive " off their 3rd mega hit album Slippery When Wet!! Great!!

    If you like older music you should try some bands from the Netherlands. In the end 60s and begin 70 some great bands came up. Try for example "Kayak - Ruthless Queen". Or some songs of Earth & Fire like "Memories" or "song of the marching children"... i could write down a whole page of great Dutch bands haha.. We have more than windmills, wooden shoes and cheese here :)

    Bon Jovi were amazing live, however Jons voice has sadly declined in the last few years to what it was. Check out their 'live in London' concert from Wembley 1994. They also did a great MTV small style gig 'an evening with bon jovi' with some stripped back acoustic stuff.
