  • I used Zettle to take credit card payments from customers for about 3 years. Using a card reader transformed how I do business and got cash flowing more quickly. In this video I'm giving you a full guided tour of Zettle, showing you how to configure everything, setting up receipts, issuing refunds and looking at a couple of the more advanced features.
Since PayPal took over iZettle they don't support this channel any more. If you'd like to consider a different card reader give Tide a try. Here's a link rebrand.ly/sbt-tide-cardreader or use code SBTPOS. More info here: www.tide.co/features/card-rea...

Great information! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I don’t suppose you’d know the answer to this, but it’s worth a try.... Do you know what happens if someone was to phone their bank and dispute the transaction - let’s say they don’t recognise the transaction. Would the bank contact you direct and query the dispute before reversing the payment?

I replied to this question above, so … You’ve probably solved this after all this time, but someone like me could be coming new to this helpful video and scrolling through the comments. I received my iZettle 2 last week. Amazingly it’s still the only card reader I know that allows repeat payments. As a busker myself I wouldn’t want to stop mid-song to take a card payment! I phoned the company (as listed in the app’s support option) and they added the repeat payment function at their end. The option appeared on my app after a couple of days. I don’t think you can set it up without phoning Zettle/PayPal.

Just got mine ordered (still £19 via the link). Quick question: how do you record this in your books (ie do you just show the total monthly fee charged, or record each invoice with the fee against it and net received? Hope that makes sense!

    • @SmallBusinessToolbox
      @SmallBusinessToolbox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I log the net sale amount (the amount that actually hits my bank account - call that A) and I log what the original gross sale value was (call that B). I deduct A from B and that gives the fee charged per transaction. I then add up all the fee charges at the end of the year and include that as a lump sum expense. So I just use a total but I have it down to per-transaction if needed (very unlikely). There's probably a report in iZettle that gives you this info. but I haven't checked. 👍

Hi andy great video do you ever get cusotmers moan about the charge on it just wondering if they do. Obviously know they can just do a bank transfer if so

You're not allowed to charge extra for credit cards these days, so I just make sure the price includes enough to cover the charge, regardless of the payment method. 👍

Hi looking into one of these but if getting a payment from another location (me: derby - customer: greece)
How would they make payment as cant use card
    Thank you

These are really designed for predominantly face-to-face payments. You can issue and invoice or payment link so the customer can pay remotely. Really depends on what you're selling / your business model. 👍

I'm a busker, and occasionally do carboot sales. I have an iZettle2. As I don't have a list of products and prices, how do I enter a fixed busking tip or a negociated price on the spot? I can't find that on my app.

You’ve probably solved this after three years, but someone like me could be coming new to this helpful video and scrolling through the comments.

Thank you for this video...however, you stopped short on the part I need to learn...how to insert the actual card into the machine! LOL! If the card has a chip, which way do I insert it? I cannot locate ONE video or even anything in writing that explains this. Appreciate your help...

Chip end into the bottom of the reader with the front side of the card facing up

Cash is definitely not dead. Even a year later. Tons of customers at my job would complain if they couldn't use cash or a check, because they hate anything that requires their personal info to be online. Basically any form of electronic payment. Some customers have even said that its illegal not to take cash.(They're wrong, but not going to argue with them) I myself am the exact opposite. I never carry cash. Lol

Cash isn't dead, but people still expect to be able to pay with card.
Its important to offer both methods, and the Zettle POS system does offer cash payment as an option.
