I have my iZettle setup with repeat pay, it seems to all be working however when I take a payment the iZettle goes to the 'Welcome!' screen. If I press the little button on top of iZettle it does go back to the £1 payment and is ready to take the next payment swipe, however I'm just wondering should it get back to the next payment screen without any input at all from me? I just want it to work like on the buses, after buying an iPhone, contacting support to get a hidden but seemingly basic feature enabled, I'm wondering how something so simple can be this complicated? 😂💯
That's strange, it shouldn't be this difficult really you're right! Once you are using Repeat Pay it shouldn't go back to the Welcome screen! I'd contact iZettle again about this as that's not how the feature usually works! Sorry I can't be of more help! Good luck! x

@@ccampbellmusic I have it working now, solution is as follows. If you setup a repeat pay and then press power on phone to turn off screen repeat pay has issues. If you keep the screen on and leave phone alone after you set up repeat pay then it will work as it's meant to, many thanks 👍🏻💯

Hey sorry for my late reply! Yes I'm still using iZettle and I'd say that the usage has increased quite a lot as people become more familiar with the machines and used to seeing them used by buskers like me. They still haven't developed the software for repeat pay for Android which is a shame. But otherwise its a great piece of kit that is pretty essential to my busking set up! Struggling to get this recurring payments to work. I cant find no settings in my phone. I specifically bought an iphobe with ios 16 running on it but still cant find any settings...what am i doubg wrong
It’s not you Peter it’s much more complicated than it needs to be! You have to contact izettle support for them to activate repeat pay on your account, I don’t think I explained that very well in the video sorry! Go to “contact” on the Zettle website and they’ll be able to do it for you! Hope this helps! Xx

Sadly no update on the android option, I don't know if the pandemic has stunted that as they've been promising it since probably 2018. The other thing you could try is the contact page on the izettle website, enquire about the Repeat Pay there and I’m sure they’d be able to help you directly. They should send you a software update link which you click and update your app and..tada the Repeat Pay will appear in your charging options! Very clear and concise explanation, I was talking to a big issue seller yesterday who has an Izettle card reader, only problem, I will have to get an iPhone which I need to get anyway so that I can record my busking sessions as I use the street cube ex which when you download CUBE JAM app you can do but yet again having to spend more money on hardware, which never seems to end .
Hello ☺️ I’d say my tips went up about 10% which doesn’t sound like much but better to have it than not! And I reckon after this pandemic people will be less inclined to carry cash so I reckon it’ll go up a lot when I get back to busking next month!
hmmm that is weird. Are you using the Repeat Pay function? It shouldn't switch off if you're using that but if you're just setting it to "card" then it'll go off after about 3 minutes if its not tapped. Also I recommend having it connected to a portable charger if you're playing for over 40 minutes as it does have a low battery life xxx
@@ccampbellmusic it's fixed now, just realised you it doesn't go off only goes on standby mode and when I use the app it comes on automatically. Thanks for the help

Hey Vic thanks for your message! That's great I've heard the Paypal card readers are pretty good too! I definitely still take cash! I actually went busking yesterday and I worked out that I took only 0.09% of my takings on card, the rest was cash! Which is, surprisingly, down from my previous experience of card payments; which I would say was making up about 15-20% of my takings before Covid. But maybe just a one off as it was a spot I've never played before as well! So maybe cash isn't as dead as I thought...that can only be a good thing for buskers! That said, having the option of taking card can't hurt!

Or, as I also say in the video, you can go directly through the iZettle website - you'll need to use their contact form in order to install it. Its not immediately available on your app or an openly downloadably feature. I don't know why that is, it would be easier if it was just a standard feature on the app but sadly it isn't. I tried to explain that as best I could...best of luck x
So many questions! Is there a version that holds it's own sim card, to obviate the need for a smart phone (which I refuse to own!)? Also, if there is, does it have the option for repeat payment, at a set rate, from different people? Thirdly, does it have a screen? I cannot imagine people tapping, without seeing a display of how much is going to be taken. Many thanks for any help. Of course life would be so much less complicated if we still lived in a world where people used real, paper money and did not feel incomplete without this week's latest technology!! Thanks again.
Hi Stephen, as far as I know the izettle does not offer a SIM option so a smartphone is required. It does have a screen so people can see the amount they’re tipping which is useful. I’m not sure I understood your second question about repeat payments but I hope you find a solution without having to get a smart phone! Best of luck! Xxx
@@ccampbellmusic I was asking about whether or not it was possible to set a fixed amount , so that people could just tap to donate a set amount, rather than you having to stop and ask them how much they wanted to pay and then put that into the reader. I have found out subsequently, though, that it is indeed possible! Many thanks for your help. Best wishes Stephen.
It allows the unit to have a set amount ready to accept, and resets after every transaction ready for next person, without operator ( performer) fidlling with a phone. Key feature for donating to a performer

For now I don’t know if anyone offering a similar software in terms of the Repeat Pay - some buskers I know use the izettle and just have a sign saying “card payments accepted please enquire” and they can take payments in between songs or at the end, not ideal but the only solution for now :( sorry to not be of more help!!

Hey Tim! Great question, I've noticed this feature and I think its new! I have been setting it to 0% VAT as I'm a sole trader so I don't have claim VAT. That's how I do it anyway hope this helps!
Thanks for these videos, they’ve been really helpful. I took my iZettle out for the first time this week. Only two people have used it so far, but it’s great to know it works. Do you ever have connectivity problems? My phone occasionally has to be reconnected to the iZettle as it loses the connection somehow. It’s no huge problem, but I’m wondering if it’s common. Hey Captain Andy! That's great that you're out and about with your card reader already! I went out busking for the first time since Covid yesterday! I had the same thing actually, very low number of taps on the card reader! Actually less than before covid but people seemed to be fine with cash so maybe its not going to be as drastic a change as I first thought! It gives me a lot of hope! Yes sadly every now and then mine does cut out, its usually due to my phone connectivity rather than the iZettle itself though! Also lately I find the initial set up when I switch the iZettle on to be a little slow connecting to my phone, I might upgrade to the iZettle 2 soon!
@@ccampbellmusic Cool. Mine's an iZettle2. I've found my connectivity issue was down to low battery on the iZettle which I've solved by buying a portable charger as you suggested. As long as my phone and my iZettle are well charged I find it works pretty well. I'm the first busker in Chester to use one so I'm getting a few funny looks and whatnot, but people are starting to give me cashless payments now and I think it will become more the norm as people get used to it.

Just a heads up, the link takes you to the Busk in London site main page, but there doesn't seem to be any place where you can download this patch from there, or from Zettle's site for that matter. Luckily their help centre's great so I gave them a call and they enabled it on my iPhone. Also do you know any good London busking spots that are fairly noisy? My band's naturally quite loud so need to avoid noise complaints!
Ohh thank you for this, they must have changed the website so I've update now to the iZettle site. Glad you managed to get it sorted and sorry for the wrong link :) Unfortunately London is going through some changes with new restrictions so you may need to get a license from Westerminster Council to play anything loud - if you google Westminster busking it should come up with the application and I think its £40 - not really ideal to be paying for a busking license but its brand new (5th April 2021) so I'm not sure what the penalty is for playing without a license, I'll keep you posted on how it goes when I get back out busking from May! xxx

Hiiii! Ohhh lovely, I'm not sure what the rules are on bagpipers now but I'd look into the Westminster Busking Scheme that has just come into place for a lot of the hotspots in the city. (google Westminster busking and it should come up!) Unfortunately the Repeat Pay is still only for iOS/iPhones/ Apple devices - such a shame! I will make an update video if I hear of any changes to that or alternatives! My friend has bought an old phone which she can hotspot to in order to use the Repeat Pay function but I appreciate that is a bit of a faff! Best of luck and lots of love!! xxx

Thanks for watching Dan! Yes, actually it would last an hour. I went out yesterday - busking for the first time since Covid! And it did last me an hour before I had to charge it up! So if you just do an hour or an hour and then a break to charge, it'll last you!
This is a great question and I just tried to figure it out too, I have no idea! Sorry this isn't a helpful answer. I have it on mine too with a number 1 in a red/orange circle. I can't figure out what it mans! Very frustrating! But it doesn't seem to interfere with the use of the app luckily!

Ah yes my bad Busk in London were originally the best ones to contact but since Covid you’re better off contacting izettle directly, more info in the description of how to contact them and they should be able to set it up for you within 24 hours! Xx

Zettle does work with Android but not the Repeat Pay feature which is a shame!

I had the same thing actually, very low number of taps on the card reader! Actually less than before covid but people seemed to be fine with cash so maybe its not going to be as drastic a change as I first thought! It gives me a lot of hope!
Yes sadly every now and then mine does cut out, its usually due to my phone connectivity rather than the iZettle itself though! Also lately I find the initial set up when I switch the iZettle on to be a little slow connecting to my phone, I might upgrade to the iZettle 2 soon!
@@ccampbellmusic Cool. Mine's an iZettle2. I've found my connectivity issue was down to low battery on the iZettle which I've solved by buying a portable charger as you suggested. As long as my phone and my iZettle are well charged I find it works pretty well.
I'm the first busker in Chester to use one so I'm getting a few funny looks and whatnot, but people are starting to give me cashless payments now and I think it will become more the norm as people get used to it.

Yes, I believe izettle take 1.75% of all transactions x

Hey Jozef, unfortunately not. As far as I know its only able to take card payments with the card present.
Just a heads up, the link takes you to the Busk in London site main page, but there doesn't seem to be any place where you can download this patch from there, or from Zettle's site for that matter. Luckily their help centre's great so I gave them a call and they enabled it on my iPhone. Also do you know any good London busking spots that are fairly noisy? My band's naturally quite loud so need to avoid noise complaints!
Ohh thank you for this, they must have changed the website so I've update now to the iZettle site. Glad you managed to get it sorted and sorry for the wrong link :) Unfortunately London is going through some changes with new restrictions so you may need to get a license from Westerminster Council to play anything loud - if you google Westminster busking it should come up with the application and I think its £40 - not really ideal to be paying for a busking license but its brand new (5th April 2021) so I'm not sure what the penalty is for playing without a license, I'll keep you posted on how it goes when I get back out busking from May! xxx

Hiya pal. I'm going to be taking a wee trip down to London at the end of the summer to do a bit of busking (bagpipes). Are there any special restrictions for pipers? I know the ex Mayor, now PM (WTF), wasn't a fan. Also what's the busk in London organisation? I can't seem to find it on Google. Finally, is this still the case that iZettle only does repeat payment for Apple devices? Thanks so much if anyone gets back to me on these questions
Hiiii! Ohhh lovely, I'm not sure what the rules are on bagpipers now but I'd look into the Westminster Busking Scheme that has just come into place for a lot of the hotspots in the city. (google Westminster busking and it should come up!) Unfortunately the Repeat Pay is still only for iOS/iPhones/ Apple devices - such a shame! I will make an update video if I hear of any changes to that or alternatives! My friend has bought an old phone which she can hotspot to in order to use the Repeat Pay function but I appreciate that is a bit of a faff! Best of luck and lots of love!! xxx

Thanks for watching Dan! Yes, actually it would last an hour. I went out yesterday - busking for the first time since Covid! And it did last me an hour before I had to charge it up! So if you just do an hour or an hour and then a break to charge, it'll last you!

This is a great question and I just tried to figure it out too, I have no idea! Sorry this isn't a helpful answer. I have it on mine too with a number 1 in a red/orange circle. I can't figure out what it mans! Very frustrating! But it doesn't seem to interfere with the use of the app luckily!

Ah yes my bad Busk in London were originally the best ones to contact but since Covid you’re better off contacting izettle directly, more info in the description of how to contact them and they should be able to set it up for you within 24 hours! Xx
