I believe Lea's range got higher, compared to when she was younger. She seldomn use her head tone when reaching high notes now. Pure chest voice!!!!
I believe that's what they meant. It's still an improvement of chest voice.
She uses both. She mixes if she wants to sing piano in high notes. She goes to pure chest if she sings forte.
Definitely not chest voice- her voice would be dead by now... she’s an expert at mixed voice
She knows how to attack the notes while taking care of her voice at the same time. No wonder her instrument has remained in pristine shape even after all these years!
It's rare for her to use chest. Usually the "chestiest " she gets is when she's using her chest mix register. That's basically the heaviest, fullest part of your mixed voice, that uses the biggest component of chest in it. Usually used for the lower part of your mixed voice.
She's the gold standard for that roles of Fantine and Ephonine.

I was fortunate to see Lea as Kim on final preview night on Broadway, and again a few months later... she was remarkable. A few years later, I saw her as both Eponine and Fantine on Broadway. She was outstanding as Fantine, not as well cast as Eponine, in spite of her gorgeous voice and fine acting. I'll venture that as Lea is THE Kim, Frances Ruffelle will always be the THE Eponine.

True right technique save her voice for long time. Yan palagi sinasabi nya sa mga biritera save voice sa tamang technique. Tingan mo si regine na dati kaya nyan abutin yung madali sa kanya. after giving birth nagbago. Naturuan siya sa broadways ng mga scholars sa voice. Tingan mo yung kumanta sa little mermaid ng disney hindi nagbago kase never siyang kumanta ng iba na sisira sa quality ng voice. Sabi huwag daw kanta ng kanta sa mga songs na hindi mo linya nakaksira daw yun ng boses. Si lea never siya kumang ng pop, rock neto lang ng tapos na mga broadway nya pero limited na magsama siya ng ibang genre sa concerts. Kantahin lang yung porte mo huwag isasagad. Si clair dela puente never kumantan ng iba. Branding nila si leah puro broadway music minsan tagalog pero convert sa broadway music
