I had a call once where they said, your son was in a horrible accident and he needs help. My son was in school, not even driving age.. so I played along for a good 10 minutes and then said.. well, tell "fake name" that I love him, and say hi to granny on his way to heaven... the guy got pissed and shocked.. to which I just hung up.

Haha I warned my parents that if they ever receive such a call about me being in trouble/kidnapped etc. tell them "I hate my kid, kill it...good riddance" and then hang up. 😁

That Dear Mum message has been going around Australia and a lot of people are falling for it. Only thing I get is a phone call once or twice a week asking about my energy provider and that they can save me $$. Problem is, I live in the Australian Outback and we only have one provider out here. They don't seem to do their homework.

There are certain TH-cam creators that ought to be mandatory viewing because they actually educate people so that they know better. You and John Stossel and definitely among them.
I got hit with this recently!! I received a text at 12am and was asleep. It said “are you Dr. Lisa?”
I responded the next day and said “negative, wrong number.” The said “I’m very sorry for bothering you.” I said “no worries.” Finally they said something along the lines of “sometimes fate brings people together. It’s nice to meet you. I would like to continue to get to know you.”
I just blocked the number after that.
I got a scam call yesterday. It was a pretty standard tech support scam. The guy said he was calling about my computer and I started laughing so he called me a bastard and hung up.
Solid advice provided. I had gotten a similar call recently and just said good-bye. One does not know who they are talking to.

It amazes me that more isn’t done to stop scammers, I would have thought that someone would have dreamed up a solution by now. At the very least these despicable pieces of scum should be punished and shamed.

I noticed a few years back that my email was being bombarded with all sorts of unquestionable emails containing porno smut, gambling, sexual meet request and other crap that I don't indulge in. Couldn't figure out how it was happening. I had an ah ha moment when I observed the headers and the weird font inconsistencies and such.
You're too funny. I once got a phone call telling me I won $100,00 from some contest I entered. I never enter contests so I knew this was a scam. I did asked her how she slept at night knowing she was scamming people, she hung up on me. LOL

@@LironSegev Just only if there was a way the authorities could do more to stop them. Because you do see it happening where they get arrested but that most likely happens if it's millions of dollars getting stolen. But it should be taken more seriously because dollars globally almost everywhere are of high value. So they'd do anything for a quick buck.

I've had those... I love to string them along
LOL...maybe I'm just old and cynical, but I find it hard to believe anybody falls for these come-ons. It seems so obviously a scam.
Let me put it this way. Say you are 70-90yrs old. You are hard of hearing. They all have accents that are hard to understand. Maybe you live alone and have family but they don’t come very often. So if someone calls it’s nice just to talk to someone. Plus they can sound very nice and pretend to be helpful. You really aren’t sure how this dumb machine works but your kids got it so you’d have something to do and maybe do a little banking because you don’t drive anymore. Or the got you this fancy phone that you are having trouble using. Too much new stuff to learn. So if someone calls you and is nice and will help you “ with each and everything “ you are grateful for their “ help”.
I get scam calls all the time, but it's always the FBI or IRS telling me I've committed a crime, never any sexy pictures 🤣
Yeah, it was funny this one time the email literally said you would be getting arrested for this crime but you don't know about it yet. Or "You can never be wiser than us, so don't play smart with us."

Common sense isn't all that common! Good phrase from years ago. It's like on here, TH-cam. When you comment on a great video then you get a message, which told me to respond via WhatsApp. "You've won a prize". Yeah right. Well I followed it through one day. I won a "free" prize. So send me my free iPhone I said. Hang on, I've got to pay for P&P. Ì thought it was free??!! They needed my bank account and sort code! No frigging way 🤣🤣
They always use a VPN, at least

Never knew any scammers would use a VPN to be honest, they would be probably using Nord, Express, or IPvanish.

Lol! I faced such scams many times, they are easy to see , but sometimes they re finding the keys to dsiturb your attention, so need to rely on Logic , and main points or their behaviours not to be catched that easily xD

@@mlkarthik1982 if it is by the message you can use a link bait as Liron do in this video, if it is by phone then I think it can only be done by police or your SIM provider

@@mlkarthik1982 it's just a link that you create by yourself or by a third party where it first goes to your site where it would check the location of the people who click the link then redirect to the actual site after it gets the location of the people who clicked the link
you can check many examples or even tutorial on youtube, just don't misuse it

I was ROFLing. This guy automatically excludes Ohio and London from suspected locations. There are obviously no scammers, only honest people live in Ohio and London.

If I get a text from someone I don't know, I block them. When someone I don't know calls me, I answer... then hang up. If they call back from the same number I answer it.
I just let it go to voicemail

I got one from my son few weeks ago, i replied, i doubt it, he`s sitting next to me, [ he never calls his mother `mum ] `.🤣, and then i sent an unsavoury text. Sadly, they never replied.

Please text the phone number of spam texts to 7726 (SPAM) to report them. I also forward the text to them as well. Then block and delete the spam text.
For some reason I get lots of banking and finance scams by text and email.
