The dogs wear leashes for their own safety based on experience with many thousands of shelter dogs across hundreds of animal shelters.
Omgg! I turned this video on for my dog and thought the surroundings in the video looked familiar. I adopted a lab mix puppy in April of ‘22 from this shelter. He was my dream dog. 😍 We drove across the country that summer and now live in the Midwest and he loves it. It was such a blessing to adopt him from this shelter. We live next to a wide open field where he can run and play and he does a great job of being a guard dog. He also loves the snow! ❄️ He’s loving, affectionate, and protective. His name at the shelter was Sunny. His name now is Oliver Sunny Robinson. 😁☀️🤗🌸 The staff at Pima Animal Care Center are amazing as well. 💗
Oh wow, that's awesome! I looked through the videos from that time period but I didn't see Sunny listed in any of them. I'm glad that he has a great family, a big open field, and snow to play in. Not much snow here at PACC. Thanks for letting us know!
@@DogPlaygroupStories When I adopted him he was about 3 or 4 weeks old, so he wasn’t big enough to play with other dogs outside. He is literally my baby 😅, although a much bigger baby now. He had a loooot of siblings there too. Anyway, this was such a pleasant surprise for me today. You definitely gained a new subscriber. 😉💗🤗 Oliver is the sweetest dog ever. 🥹 Sucha good boy! 🐶😁❤
@@floraaa111 That's so awesome!
Beautiful Dogs 🐕🐕🐕😍😍😍
We're trying as much as we can to get them adopted or fostered.
tell those dogs that I love those dogs
I might just yell that at the dogs while I'm recording a playgroup. 😆
❤❤❤
My dogs favorite person passed away. When I picked him up from the shelter he was so excited to get out. I know shelter staff are good to animals but no way sitting in a cage all day is healthy. Thankfully humans trust animals more than people so most are adorable and find good homes. I found this video in hopes of entertaining my buddy so he won’t be sad at the thought of losing his “person” 😢
That's very sad. The staff and volunteers at our shelter are heroic at how much they care for the dogs and do what's needed for them. But you're right, very few dogs do well at the shelter. I hope your buddy enjoys these videos and being in your home!
@@DogPlaygroupStories thank you!! He’s so calm while watching. Hes so sweet!! I’ll do anything to make him happy. Thanks for sharing entertainment for our buddies ❤️
My deaf 10 month old Pocket Bully Jedrek loves watching your videos. He really enjoys seeing all the different dogs. Its hard for him being a special needs big baby boy. Other dog guardians don't really understand how hard it is when he just wants to play. I enjoy your videos as well so many beautiful dogs to adopt and love, i hope they all find homes. When my Lil senior crosses over I'll be looking at the dog pound for a dog i can adopt and save, one that doesn't have any time left, one that can play with Jedrek. Much love. Cheer thanks, from Sydney Australia.
I'm very glad that Jedrek enjoys these videos! We had a deaf dog named Mystic who appears in the videos Dog TV Daycare #1, #5, #10, #14, and #16. He started out being awkward, but eventually became a playgroup rock star. He's on the thumbnail of #5.
@@DogPlaygroupStories we will be on the look out for Mystic. Thank you for everything you do. It takes special people to help animals in need. You are all very kind special people.
Hello everyone!! My fur baby & I are back! We’re going to watch until we fall asleep. ❤
Sounds great!
I’m watching this with my puppy looking at him and thinking how people could just let them go. So sad. Feel like I’m letting my dog watch scared straight lol
You mean all these dogs that are discarded by society? Sometimes people get into very difficult financial situations, sometimes they can't find housing that will allow dogs (or their dog's breed). Sometimes the owner dies and no one is able to adopt the dog. We've had hoarding cases where law enforcement had to take a large number of dogs away due to negligence and health issues. But I suspect a lot of them are people discarding their dogs. One of the saddest things is that almost every dog at the shelter has lost everyone they cared about. But when dogs come in together and get along, the shelter keeps them together while they're at the shelter (and people are encouraged to adopt both).
@@DogPlaygroupStories yeah I mean some stuff is out of your hands right but I’m talking about owners that just give up or abandon their pets. It’s sad. To me you have to be a bad person to mistreat animals. They trust you and look to you for everything. I couldn’t imagine what the dog is thinking. To just be left. It’s Not like a person that can understand. I don’t know I’m just rambling lol
@@Bacchibeatz Yes, when people surrender a dog at the shelter, the dog has no idea what's going on. The shelter is very noisy and frightening and I see a lot of sad dogs. The volunteers (and staff) go to great lengths to help each dog, but their behavior usually gets worse over time.
My dog loves this he watches for ages
I'm glad he likes it so much!
Same. I always smile and watch her so into it, it's so cute lol
@@GamerGirl_BRE That's such a wonderful thing when a dog is really excited about something.
I just let my dog watch this. She spends hours just jumping and barking at the screen.
I'm glad she's having fun with the video.
Well said CAM don’t let Mike T go somewhere else and have success. Look at the Eagles , sad af Andy R winning in KC #PhillyFan4Life #GoBirds
❓
Sorry replied to the wrong video , had this on in the other room for my GS pup 🤦🏾♂️
Yeah, I figured it was something like that.
I noticed the area is different, is this a new renovation, or different cell?
No, this is the public yard that we use sometimes.
Hi! What is the purpose of the spray bottle?
It's a correction tool (aversive). With lots of shelter dogs in one yard, experience shows that it's necessary to let dogs know when they're doing something wrong. Dogs do the same thing with each other using barks/snarls/growls/etc. A lot of these dogs have behavior issues from abuse/neglect and so there's a lot of bad behavior. Ideally the handler begins by spraying the ground near the dog's feet. If that doesn't work, they spray the dogs feet, then back, and then finally their face. The spray bottle targets one dog. The shake can targets the whole group of dogs in one area. The jug full of rocks (used for the noise it makes, not to actually hit a dog with it) is used in extreme cases where a fight is likely to break out. The handlers work with the many of the same dogs each day, so they often know they need to start at a higher level of escalation than the minimum.
@@DogPlaygroupStories many thanks. 🙏
Do these dogs get fixed before they're adopted out?
Excellent question. Yes, they're all spayed/neutered before adoption.
Great to hear.
Thanks for the video, I'm trying to do some desensitization work with our rescue who is highly dog reactive. She watched this with great focus, but then eventually started to relax with the help of treats and petting. Feels like progress!
@@VioletMoodSwings That's wonderful! I'm very happy when dogs get real benefit from these videos.
Why doesn't the dogs get water ? And why do they look so skinny? Where are u located for donations
Regarding skinny dogs: we get a lot of stray dogs, dogs from hoarding cases, abuse, neglect, dogs with gunshot wounds and other health issues. We have our own dedicated clinic with veterinarians. The staff and volunteers work with the dogs and flag any issues. They really do heroic work! Typically the dog will then be evaluated the same day.
We're in Tucson, Arizona USA and the best place for donations is Friends of Pima Animal Care Center. www.friendsofpacc.org/
Regarding water (copying again): this was during a very serious disease outbreak and the lead veterinarian made the difficult decision to continue with playgroups since they lowered dogs' stress level, making them less susceptible. But we had to remove the common water which could easily spread the disease very quickly. None of us were happy about it, but it was actually best for the dogs. We monitored them for symptoms of dehydration and avoided leaving them in the yard for a long time. And we held the playgroups in the early morning before it got too hot.

Clearly they need water!!!

Poor dogs hope they get adopted and find a family again . This looks so boring for a dog . No toys , no play , no activity , nothing to do . Most are Under weight . No fun for them it’s just a pound . Not entertaining for my dogs at all
If we add any kind of resource (toys, treats, or anything that a dog can claim to have), then any resource guarding dogs can fight over it. These dogs come in as strays, hoarding case dogs, abuse cases, neglect.... We usually don't know their behavior.
The purpose of these playgroups is for dogs to socialize and it's usually not boring at all for the dogs. Some have fun. Some are afraid, but eventually have at least a little fun. Dogs are pack animals and naturally enjoy being with other dogs all the time. Some of these dogs have lost that and we're working at getting them back into their natural behavior.
@@DogPlaygroupStories I can understand that with the toys as I have 3 dogs and one likes to resource guard . Some activities would be nice for the dogs you have there . Such as bridges and tunnels . Dog playground equipment can often be constructed from recycled things
