      Underrated no.Undiscovered yes. Everybody says PRINCE was a underrated guitar player but yet everyone knew he was “a heck of a guitar player.”Now that don’t make no fuc*in’ sense when pple say that /:

      @@azsman1977 Prince ???? Now that's what I call an OVER-rated guy. His guitar playing was not at all that breathtaking, I think he was 80 % marketing, 10 % political correctness (a new Hendrix) and 10 % talent. Sorry guys, there were literally hundreds of better guitar players in bands like Thin Lizzy, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Journey, Toto etc etc. Prince, come on, that's just perroting what many "experts" claim, and many of these experts just are paid to please record selling companies. That's all part of the game, you create a lot of buzz, claim that X is a super guitar player, repeat the same message over and over, and there always will be perrots joining the artificial admiration society, if Y said that guitar player is great, if Z says he was inspired by X, than it must be true. It is not true. It's just part of a clever sceme to make a lot of money. Trust your own ears, in stead of perroting "experts" points of view.

    I remember staying up to watch WWF wrestling at midnight. I fell asleep before it ended and woke up to Night Ranger on TV. Didn't know who they were at the time, I was mainly a Van Halen fanboy. But I remember waking up another time to Night Ranger and thinking to myself "These guys again? Do they have their own TV show?" I was under the impression they were on this show every week. Anyway, I remember Jack saying "Brad and Jeff are gonna show you what they learned over the summer." The camera then cut to Brad and Jeff standing back to back and they began their guitar solo jam. I was then hooked on Night Ranger and knew that when I finally got my guitar, it was going to be red and have a tremolo bar. I ended up with a 1985 Ibanez Roadstar II (RS440) that was dark red and had a tremolo I beat the crap out of and it never went out of tune. I miss that guitar.

    I love that call and response guitar solo style towards the end of the song when Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson trade guitar licks!!!! And then they both harmonize till they climax at the ending of the song!!!! They were a good lead guitar team!!!!!🙂😊🙂😊😀😃😀😋👍👍👍👍 Love Night Ranger!!!!

    Wireless had been around for several years by then. NADY systems were the top seller for wireless microphones for a long time. When instruments went wireless the technology exploded. These guys were fantastic on stage, still like to catch them on tour (been a couple of years now).

    Remember this like it was yesterday, NR was one of the first main stream dual leads. There was of course Iron Maiden and Judas P but these guys really brought it into the rock scene. They did things different, the drummer on the side of the stage. That is how you break the norm and bordom. Great Band!

  • @YAMISOOLD2009
    @YAMISOOLD2009 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Never even knew about this. Thanks for posting. NR had a unique niche between 80's metal and 80's melodic rock. Obviously leaning more to the melodic rock. But having Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson gave them guitar cred that would appeal to the metal heads but they had the hooks and harmonies and looks that appealed to the ladies and just fans of rock. They were big but not as huge as they deserved to be. Sister Christian has become iconic since it was featured in Boogie Nights but before that they were really just tossed on the dust heap after Grunge interrupted the rock and roll party train.
    What is really cool about them is that they have continued on to this day and are one of the few legacy bands still making new records that sound as good as their old stuff. Check out Somewhere in California(2011) or High Road (2014) and you will be surprised at how good they still are. I got to see them in an all acoustic set a couple of summers ago and I was amazed by them. Whether acoustic or amped up, these guys still get it done.

    • @beachgirl4583
      @beachgirl4583 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sister Christy was iconic the minute it hit the airwaves, but you must not have been there.
      I was, and I think it killed this band's "metal cred" at the time. They had faded to "who?" way before grunge arrived.
      I think they need to get Alan back into the band. His intro here was beautiful.
      Why is no one talking about Jack's performance and energy?

  • @JohnRocks6368
    @JohnRocks6368 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    unfortunately this song never got any air play, I used to call daily to my local AOR station who had a 'lunch request' hr, but nevertheless they never played this song as many times as I requested! Yet, youtube lives on forever...great song!!!

    Bad Brad and Jeff jam! Midnight madness is a great album but play rough is also a good tune. Didn't really get into their stuff till about 88. I liked sister Christian too, it got alot of bad reviews cuz of the video. This live in Japan is just awesome if you like their work. I gravitate towards bands like this with actual talent as apposed to let's say friggin poison! Never understood that either, but what do I know.. I do know I saw Van Halen in78 before anyone on the east coast knew anything about them either. Pushing 60 and nothing these days compares to the bands of the 70s and 80s..

    The 1980s would have had a rather big hole and heavy metal hard rock without Night ranger and the fact is most people could care less what an underrated band.
    I just don't know how night ranger has been cold like puppy dog 1980s rock. What the hell is so puppy dog about them ?? I would have called poison puppy dog rock easily
    They've gotten for more respect then might ranger has ever received.
    Definitely good musicians without a doubt the music is good can't see no but it's not night ranger.
    I'd say night ranger was the band that that was just too good for itself
