Spot on thank you sir. 2014 Sentra SV 97K miles have been chasing the same problem. Smoke machine didn’t show any leaks. Once I removed the fuel pump I noticed the burned hole on the harness connector. Ordered OEM fuel pump from Amazon 275.00 and also replaced the rubber O ring. It has been 3 weeks without the light coming back on. 👍
I've had a small evap leak on our 08 Sentra for a while now. I thought I'd checked everything with no luck finding it. I did put a fuel pump in the car about 6 months ago so I'm gonna check this. 🤞 With any luck that will be the issue so I can finally fix it and stop stressing about it. Thanks for the video.
Yup yup. This was my wife’s car exact problem. She kept insisting to take it back to the dealership n they just want to replace the fuel cap n stated don’t buy cheap fuel like arco. I looked online n this is a major issue just like their transmissions. N threw this in their faces n why couldn’t they find this problem?
Definitely a difficult diagnosis. And an uncommon evaporative fuel emissions system failure. I have also seen cracked hard lines on the top of the fuel tank (requiring fuel tank replacement). Verify it is the fuel pump that has failed and replace.
Having same problem with mine I fix canister and gas cap .Haven't took mine in yet to smoke because I don't have proper materials to check with smoke but how much does cost to fix I own a 2017 nissan sentra
My 2016 Sentra has shown P0456 after a gas cap and vent canister valve, so I will try this. Is this something where I can just replace that connector? Or does the entire fuel pump have to be replaced? My gas mileage has not been very good and the check engine light comes and goes. Another thing I’ve noticed is that the car tells me my gas cap is loose when it is very much not loose.
If the connector is cracked you have to replace the fuel pump assembly. The loose cap message is because of the EVAP leak. I would recommend a smoke test to identify the leak
I have the P0456 and P0443. I've swapped cap, canister and valves. Smoke test from dealer didn't show anything. Any info would help. Just checked the pump but no burn through.... :(
Purge valve is a common failure. Simple test to verify operation. Should seal when unplugged if you can blow air through the valve while unplugged its failed. Could also be the evap pressure sensor. They tend to fail within operating parameters. (Won't set specific pressure sensor dtc).
@@SnrTrade check the evap plastic lines mounted on top of tank I have seen those cracked, also check fuel tank fill tube for cracks I have seen those crack, typically from tire impact damage.
Do you think a 2016 KIA could have similar issues? I have confirmed everything else is good (gas cap, both solenoids, fuse, canister, lines appear fine) I am getting a P0456 and thought I would next focus on the fuel pressure sensor (typically throws a P0455).

So you're saying if none of those components that are the common issue solve it, check the fuel pump with a low tank, not full. Then it will produce smoke. But, where would you see it from where the cap goes?
Test and identify the problem. Parts cannons are expensive and counter productive. Remove the back seat, and remove the fuel pump cover. Then the fuel pump connector. Then smoke the system.
Audi Tech here. I happen to own a 2012 1.8S Versa. This little thing has lasted me many years. Since owning it I’ve had to replace the front and rear suspensions and the PR taillight due to a bit of corrosion, which was pretty easy fix. Lately I’ve gotten a check engine code, sporadic, P0456. Naturally I gravitated to the most common issue being the gas cap. Installed a new one, cleared the code then test drove for 3 miles with no check engine light. Drove for about 2-3 months without any issue until recently. The same code came back. I wanted to reach out and ask a fellow Tech what the common issue typically is for these little Versas when it comes to the P0456 fault? Appreciate any suggestions you may have Brother.
Thank You for taking the time to make this video. I have a PO456 on a 2012 Sentra. Also noticed a leak at the top of the fuel tank hen full . The O-ring for the fuel pump was changed. But I noticed a chip in the edge of the pump. Anyone have any suggestion? Thanks

@@brianwladyka8863 gas cap leak would have showed up with a smoke test. 08 versa non CVT. Has P0452. Cannot figure it out. It builds pressure in the fuel tank until it stalls the engine. I disconnected the vent hose at the canister and no longer have a pressure issue in the tank but the code remains. Is there more than one vent from the fuel tank that could be clogged?
P0452 is evap pressure sensor code. Did you disconnect the vent valve hose, and correct the tank over pressurizing? If so, dirt is clogged in said hose (common problem).
@@garrettgrantham7411 I replaced every part of this EVAP system. I removed the hose, ran brake cleaner down it and also was able to blow through it. I am totally mystified.
If p0452 returns, you have a pressure problem... Testing is simple. Because we know the system is over pressurizing, either the purge solenoid isn't opening (mounted on the intake manifold). Or the vent valve is stuck closed (canister mounted). If both valves are operational (disconnect harness connector and jump 12volt power and ground to valve: should click and seal/ open.)

Hey, I have a 2016 Nissan Sentra sv and I’m currently having the same code. I took it to a dealer and they replaced something with my evap system and a couple of days later the same code pops up. I take it back and they said it was my MAF and they cleaned it charged me 75. A week later the SAME code pops up and now they are saying off a “highly educated guess” it’s my purge canister Valve. A lot of the times the RPM would wig out and I would stall sometimes on the highway trying to go above 75. Can you please help me out??
Sounds like a "part cannon" To me, ( tech guesses and recommends parts, typically they don't actually perform any diagnostics. Did they perform a smoke test? Or voltage test to the canister vent valve?
yes, they did a smoke test and said off a “highly educated guess” that it’s my purge canister valve part- PV692 they said. they are charging my 300$, they said the part is 195 and i’ve already paid them near 200 for the first replacement which i forgot which part they replaced, then cleaned my MAF for 75. im just done with paying so much of it ain’t even the right solution.
It's possible, but even then saying a highly educated guess proves that they can't prove it. I'm sorry your getting drug behind a parts cannon, an intelligent tech could show and prove the failed part, it's a simple on off 12volt circuit that runs a solenoid (canister vent valve). Super simple test just supply power and ground to the solenoid, it should seal with voltage applied and open with voltage removed. Yes they are common failures, but identifying a common failure is not a diagnosis. If your close to northern Utah I could absolutely identify the problem and get it fixed right the first time.

My immediate suspicion is the purge valve stuck open allowing unmetered air into the engine. Simple test remove the vacuum line and plug off and run at idle see if it corrects the idle issues.
The vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold, it will have a green cap on a tee. That says vapor pressure test port. The purge valve is mounted on the intake manifold towards the firewall.
