An exciting opportunity to envisage and design a new modern private bush lodge set in the African wilderness.
Combing the traditional thatch grass roof architecture associated with bush lodges in a modern contemporary application in combination with concrete, stone and timber materials to celebrate an experience unique to the African continent.
A strong focus was made on capturing the views while also trying to ensure the building did not dominate its setting but rather was informed by it and celebrates it.
The arrival to the lodge is along a rough dirt road that slowly reveals the lodge, requiring one to exit the vehicle and proceed along a bridge over a natural stream surrounded by the sounds of the local birds.
