    I'm german and inherited a House in Norway at the Sognefjord. We try to stay there as often as possible and driving around from there. Norways westcost is one of the most beautiful places I know.

      During our road tours through Norway, we spent several nights in a hytte on the alm of Sognefjord. First by Astrid, she had vacation house next to her farm! In later years of the farm of Jan-Olaf. He has the most delicious 🍓 😊

      Greetings to beautiful Dalarna! We spend some time at lake Molbyggen a few years ago, and enjoyed the bread from leksand, which is also a beautiful little town. And never forget the Skerry islands east of Stockholm, take a boatride there while you visit stockholm.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the nature, but it’s more homey you know. Familiar. But seing your exitement, gives me a fresh perspective, and makes me kind of proud. We visited Sweden and Norway for 16 years on a role and made all our trips in a Jeep Wrangler with army-trailer. We never book in advance but always start looking for a Hytter or Stuga around 16.00 ours. Most times we found a place to sleep. Our tour went from the Netherlands to Kirkeness, Nordkapp, Lofoten (whale watching in Andeness) Just out of Andeness is a campsite with whirlpool in the dunes, overlooking the ocean! Then follow Riksveg 17, along all the fjords, using several ferry’s.
    Norway is awesome

      @@OurStorytoTell if you plan the next tour! My advise would be, drive quickly as possible to the furthest point. For instant Kirkeness, by the Russian border! From that point going south along the coastline of Norway, will bring you closer to home. (Dutch-viewpoint) It took us 3 weeks (3 days up and 18 days down! 😊

    To really enjoy Norway, I think laid-back and positive mindset is needed, can't get grumpy if missing a ferry with 5 min, water is cold or it rains, when UK weather hits the Scandinavian mountain ridge in the west, clouds need to go upward to pass, they get cooled down and it rains. Fjords are special, the problem when growing up in a fjord and then living in a city like me, I know I have to move back and live in a fjord again. Everyday nature show off with a new view, no Sun sets are the same, I took it for granted as a kid.

    I really love this video. Just want to point out, as you mention canyons a lot. There are few canyons in Norway, but hundreds of fjords. We call it valleys when there are no ocean connection. I sincerely hope you enjoyed being here. Hope you come back soon 🤩
    A fjord and a canyon are geographical features with distinct differences:
    1. Formation:
    - Fjords are typically formed through glacial erosion or the incursion of seawater into deep valleys. They are often narrow and long with steep mountainous sides on both ends.
    - Canyons are primarily formed through river erosion, where rivers cut through hard rock over time. They can be deep, wide, and often have steep sides.
    2. Location:
    - Fjords are usually found in coastal areas and are often filled with saltwater from the sea.
    - Canyons can be found worldwide, not necessarily near the coast, and typically contain freshwater in the form of rivers or streams.
    3. Environment:
    - Fjords often host a unique ecosystem diversity with marine life adapted to both saltwater and the freshwater flowing into them.
    - Canyons are often surrounded by various types of terrain, and their ecosystems can vary depending on their location and climate.
    So, while both fjords and canyons are natural landforms shaped by erosion, their formation, location, and environments are different.

    Many of those smaller lakes in the mountains have trout and other good fish. It's amazing to go fishing there, but bring a mosquito net and bug spray. :D To be allowed to fish you usually buy a "fishing certificate" in the local sporting goods store or similar, it costs maybe 20-30 USD per person.

      I like the second rule, but not heard about the first rule. At least it's good to tell someone where one plan to hike, and expect to arrive back. And bring a phone. Other hikers, at least in Norway, will help, and call for help, if someone is seen having trouble. Anyway, fine with some company, if one can time it. That said, fully respect someone keeping to those 2 rules.

      Hi from Bergen, Norway. The sun rises 20 minutes later and sets 20 minutes earlier than in Berlin in winter. So it very much depends on where in Norway you live. Yes the winters are dark, but not much darker than in Germany. So you can move :)

    • @thorstenbrandenburg4338
      @thorstenbrandenburg4338 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just checked they daytime for November 11 in Bergen: 7:44 hours of daylight. And for Berlin: 8:56 hours of daylight. Aside from that, we live a bit more in the south.

    • @peacefulminimalist2028
      @peacefulminimalist2028 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thorstenbrandenburg4338 I didn’t check the hours - just sunrise and sunset and they seemed to be approximately 20 minutes apart :) Edit: for December (which is the darkest month).

    • @thorstenbrandenburg4338
      @thorstenbrandenburg4338 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peacefulminimalist2028 yeah, it’s overall, in a week, more than 210 minutes, more than 3 hours, and what comes into my mind is, that while I have a chance to make a longer break during daytime every now and then, I usually will be in office exactly during daylight. 20 minutes in the morning and evening can make a big difference then.
      But of course you are right, it depends a lot on the northerness. I remember spending a few weeks on an island north south of Molde in the summer, and we just checked that it became a slight bit darker at around 2 in the morning. But it was still full daylight. Something I like a lot - it’s just the other way around during winter.

    To all of you who want to come to Norway.
    Please be familiar with the laws and regulations. We love our nature and hate it being abused.
    You don't shit where you stand, and if you have to, you pick it up and take it with you to the nearest rubbish bin.
    Respect people's private property and the right to privacy, also for those on a camp site.
    You don't drive out into untouched nature, that's the biggest provocation you can do to a Norwegian and expect a reaction.
    Try to be humble and respectful to the people who live in the country, and be an ambassador for your own country.
    There is starting to be a resistance among Norwegians against overlanders / tourists in a car who come to our country. So change it!
    Places where we Norwegians travel for nature experiences are closed due to foreigners who litter the nature and streams that we could drink from, are now recommended not to drink from anymore because of foreign poo that pollutes the water.
    Dear Germans, this applies more to you than to others!
    Please respect our unpolluted nature!

    Wow, you have been already to so many places. When I took a "fossentour" with my nephew we also have been to the Langfossen, Lätefossen, Skervsfossen(in which you took a bath I guess) but missed the Vöringfossen because it was so cloudy and we just heard it. Btw, I am sure Tanner you were happy to decide for a smaller Van rather than for a bigger camper. roads are samll and narrow sometimes. Always nice to see when Willa is exhausted and is sitting in her chair like "ein Schluck Wasser in der Kurve" (guess no english translation availble. Good to see she has a lot of fun even entertaining as a big sister. Seems Noa can handle the trip very well as well. Well, with such power parents both must feel secure anyway. Did you liked the round abound, so called the blue ufo by my Nephew and the impressive Hardanger Bridge ? From the side towards Eidfjord there is a parking spot and you get a nice view to the massive bridge. Cars look like matchbox cars. Great to see you all enjoy Norway and yes, its not only the coastline. Norway offers so many different landscapes its amzing. Even the so called fjell area looks pretty. Guess you experienced this while driving the Aurlandsvegen. Following you on the map, you have missed couple points but travellers always need a reason to come back once. Hopefully you did on top of the Trollstiegen. Uups, you didnt take the choo-choo train ride up to Myrdal ? Yes, very very expensive but would have been a highlight in Willas life. Next time when you are back again and than you can rid the bikes back to Fläm. Ähem,,,,you still have some highlights in front of your trip so I shouldnt mention that the northern part with Senja, Vesterälen and Lofoten is a MUST to travel once. CU and take care of the wildlife like sheeps and cows 😀

    Every year people from the south. Tourists die while trekking in Norway. The weather can change from sunny and warm to near minus in minutes with rain and sleet. Even if it looks nice, prepare, always prepare. Bring warm wollen full-body underwear, full-body rain protection, both can be thin but protect against rain and wind, new dry socks, and strong small plastic bags if your shoes become wet. And warm drink in a thermos and water. And if possible one of these insulating kind of sleeping bag-looking covers. And energy bars. Then you are good to go. All this does not weigh much, not these days, not more than 1-2kg. But it will save your life. And of course, a way to contact others while out. :D
    (All this of course is on higher altitude and during spring and autumn. Still in mids of summer it can happen on higher altitude.)

    Beautiful video from my local playground :) Hopefully there will soon be totally stop for all the cruise ship visiting and polluting our fjords. The nature is beautiful but delicate and should be taken care of and not used for mass tourism at all. There is not build enough infrastructure to handle all the tourism. Unfortunately due to instagram tourism our clean rivers and nice spots has been filled with trash and human shit on the trails left behind for the locals to clean up. The cruise ship visitors dont leave behind anything for the local businesses cause everything is included on the ship. We have an old saying here in Norway when roaming around in the great outdoors which is, "leave no trace behind". Basically mean that anything you bring into the trails you bring back out and throw it in the trash. Glad you enjoyed your visit and hikes and hope you can be an ambassador for treating this beautiful but delicate landscape with respect and care.
