- My review of the Pac-man Deluxe cab from @Arcade1UpOfficial! I give my thoughts on the look of the cabinet and show gameplay of all games included.
I also played around with it a bit after recording, and I can say that the issue I had in the video with Rolling Thunder didn't exist when I was playing it properly and not at an odd angle (due to the tripod beside me).

You definitely need to order a Volbox volume control knob, and a 4 pole, male/male audio cable. You'll get the correct volume that way. Had to do it for Pac 40th, Pacmania Legacy, Ms Pac Deluxe, and Dig-Dug Legacy. Don't know what A1up's problem is, but they need to push out an update to us to fix the blaringly loud problem. Until then, the Volbox is our best friend. Don't get the cheaper stuff. They're not 4 pole compliant, and won't pass full stereo like the Volbox. Thanks for a great review.

Between this and Class of 81, I think you made the better choice. I feel like Arcade1Up really stepped up their game with this one. I love that it actually captures the right cabinet shape, and the tilted display is the chef’s kiss. 🥹👌
I didn’t think I wanted a 3:4 scale Pac-Man since I’m waiting for a more accurate replica at 1:4 scale to get delivered any moment now, but I must admit this gives me a pinch of FOMO.

@@HungrywolfGarou immediately after posting, I checked the tracking to find out my PAC-MAN x Quarter Arcade was already waiting on my doorstep!
The one “pro tip” I always remembered from the PacMan Fever Days was the ability to “park” by moving into the corner just above and to the right of the starting position and, on the original arcade ROM, allegedly, the monsters won’t attack…. But on basically ANY home adaptation-and perhaps later revisions of the arcade game-that trick doesn’t work.
I just tried it on the Numskull Quarter Arcade I bought from the American Girl doll company (it’s not the same packaging or splash screen, but it’s available at retail price, so I’ll take it)…. And Pac-Man successfully stayed “parked” undisturbed basically indefinitely until I could no longer resist the urge to let the game play out! I wonder if this works on the Arcade1Up or if they used one of the more updated revisions?

Agree with you 100% about the titled display. I have the Ms. Pac-Man 40th Anniversary Countercade from Arcade1Up (which I really like by the way!) But something about it always kind of threw me off a little bit after years of playing the real cabinet. It never occurred to me that it was because the screen angle was different, and that on a psychological level, that just messed with my brain a bit. Great catch from Arcade1Up.

I wish they hadn't called it "Pac-Man Deluxe" because this sort of thing is impeding my occasional Google searches for Pac-Man Deluxe, which was a legendary bootleg Pac-Man machine that had 8 ghosts. IT EXISTED! But nobody ever talks about it. It's not in MAME. And I can't find any information about it on the internet. The search continues...

I wish they would put Pac-Man Arrangement on one of these cabinets, it's definitely one of the best Pac-Man arcade games after Pac-Mania
I don't know if I'm familiar with Pac-man Arrangement. I'll have to look that up!
Adding to this, I feel the other arrangement titles should be in some of the cabinets.

@hamrich871 The one that closed in Athens? I've been once in 2019. I've been to the one in Downtown ATL, too, and the one on Jimmy Carter.
You could and should have mentioned a lot more. 1) Does it save local high scores? 2) Does it go to a random game as a screen saver (attract mode) or is it stuck on the menu screen all of the time. I had mine delivered yesterday, very heavy thing, God knows when I am going to attempt to unpack it and get it together but I have to do it before 30 days just in case something is wrong with the machine. They call this a riseless design, but you are still using a riser just a more stealth version of it. It is going to bug me if you can see the joins between the two. Hopefully one day they might produce adult sizes.
It saves local high scores. It will go to an attract mode when left at the main menu too long.
Edit: Also, the XL version that's larger is available at Costco now, I believe, for $100 more. In addition to a larger cab and screen, it has light up buttons and a light up coin door.
Some cabs I wish Arcade1up would make are ones like Donkey Kong, Popeye, Mario Bros., the first three Cruis'n games on one cab USA, World, Exotica, but sadly we will probably never get them because Nintendo guards their IP like gold and won't license them out. The only way right now is to mod cabs with graphics and there are switch and NES decks by Intec that fit most 1ups except legacy ones where the deck sits inside of the side panels on wood blocks. For Cruis'n I have a seated OutRun and I can get Exotica graphics to reskin it and I have a modded Ridge Racer wheel from Buy Stuff in Ontario and it has the N64 World and Exotica on it.
Those would be nice if we could get them. I'd love to have a sit down Cruis'n cab!
Galaga 88 is actually really fun…I bought the Galaga countercade…and actually really got into Galaga 88 it is really good…and just puts a different spin on Galaga which is one of my favorites…but very repetitive and has gotten a little boring.
I need to put more time into it for sure.
It Would’ve Been Cool If The Coin Door Works When You Put Your Coins In And Play
It would be a cool feature, but would also make the cabs more expensive. I think the faux coin doors work.

Hey, great review! What do you think about the input of the games? Do you have any input lag issue?
I'm not extremely technical when it comes to noticing input lag, but I haven't had any issues with the games. I've not noticed any difference versus when I play on an actual arcade cab.

how does the stick controller feel while being Super PAC-Man sized in Super PAC-Man? hard to control?
I don't think it feels hard to control.
No scanlines option is pretty disappointing, especially since the SF2CE cab has them and they look really nice. I know these games aren't all programmed by the same studios, but the scanlines would be so much nicer than the awful smoothing option.
I agree. It would be nice to have the option. I don't usually use them, but sometimes I do in Joust on the MK Deluxe.

I found it at Ross. They have some cool arcade pictures at Hobby Lobby, too.
Can you change the settings on Pac-Land so the joystick controls left & right??? It is really awkward to use the buttons left and right!!!
You can't. Pac-land originally controlled with buttons, so it retains the original control scheme.
I honestly feel kinda spoiled for owning the 40th one, given the fact they’ve added multiple options to the games here.
I wish they still fixed the volume, as that was an issue I had with the machines besides the countercade.
Yeah, I'd love if they could do an update that would fix the sound.

Because that’s the case in the 40th one I own.
@Soshi The Yoshi I honestly don't know, since I don't really play Pac-land much. But I'll play it tonight and let you know. Most likely it does.

Does the deluxe cabinet let you enter initials to save high scores locally for family members?

@davidbarnhart7508 Any of the arcades on the Deluxe cab that allowed for high score saving and initials will have it on their game. But I can double check when I'm home from work.
I just got this cabinet a couple weeks ago. Do you find an issue with controlling Pac-Man on some of the games... namely Super Pac-Man?
Not really, but I haven't really played Super Pac-man much.
The issues you have with Super Pac-Man is present on the og arcade version too, I played the og version at my local arcade and it did not feel as good as I remembered and I found myself missing a lot of turns

In your opinion do you think if you wanted too would you be able to change out the arcade stick and buttons due to the fact that the control panel is one piece?
That is a good question. I believe so, since you can still access those controls.
Can you disarm the bugs on Galaga on these machines? Do you know how to do it?
I believe that only the first Galaga release by Arcade1up had the no-fire glitch on it (the cab that just had Galaga and Galaxian on it). I don't think you can do the glitch on the Deluxe cab. I know you couldn't do it on the cocktail tables Arcade1up made.
Is there a placeholder for if you dont want the coinholder
There is no placeholder for the coin door. If you don't want to put it on the cabinet, you can leave it off, but it will leave the pre-drilled holes on the kickplate visible.
Does it have a 4 way gate or 8?
It has a square gate, I believe, set diagonally as a 4-way gate.
I was going to get it until I found out that you can add credits but you don't get it continue. You have to start all over at the beginning.
Most of the classic arcade games don't let you continue where you left off, so it just stays true to that.
Major input lag. I can tell in the Pac-man gameplay (7:20 - 7:44) that you are compensating for input lag on corners because I can hear the click when you are 2/3's or 1/2 a Pac-man length before a turn. I can make turns doing that if I have a plan and as long as I have time to react, I have the Galaga Deluxe which is really the same box as yours reskinned with firmware Galaga themed and the same games. I'm planning to gut it for a 60 in 1 because I consider it unplayable.

@@HungrywolfGarou Ok? My Tempest Legacy has zero input lag so this isn't an "anti Arcade1Up" comment. Not trying to troll. Did you watch that 15 seconds? Maybe you are not aware of lag compensation but the clicks are telling.

@@HungrywolfGarou Its not a perfect solution either - I'll miss the menu system and have to go to a sound control knob on the back. But it should solve lag and I'll pick up Donkey Kong(s).
Donkey Kong is good. If I could only have one Nintendo arcade, though, it would be Popeye. I'd want a Popeye cab, though, with that art. Luckily, one of the arcades near me has it.
Ugh, same crappy frame rate as the last year's ms packman. They're using a shitty pcb in these newer ones. My pacman legacy is so much smoother. I wonder if it's because it's online and it's doing too much at one time?
I don't know. Seems fine to me, but I'm not very technical with framerates.
@HungrywolfGarou watch when you play mappy, when the screen moves side to side it's choppy. Don't get me wrong it's very playable just an eye sore for me. Also when playing pacmania. Watch how choppy the screen scrolls.

@@HungrywolfGarou I hope so then it’s not a waste of money glad you didn’t buy the Ms Pac-Man Galaga 20th anniversary cause it doesn’t include Pac-Man it doesn’t have the same sound as the original arcade machine that I own at home since 2003 I own it cause the arcade was ruling the world of video games it didn’t matter how powerful the consoles were namco would make every Pac-Man sound stupid not the same as the arcade stay away from teenage mutant ninja turtles they cheated on the theme song it doesn’t sound the same if you press the button you won’t hear shredder or April voice another rip off from arcade 1 up
I didn't realize any sound was missing from Class of 81. Which ones? I have the Ms. Pac-man cocktail table from arcade1up for my Ms. Pac-man. I have TMNT, but I knew about the theme song issue going into it. It was unfortunate that the liscencing issue existed. But I still love the games.
@@HungrywolfGarou I’m talking about the sound of Ms Pac-Man Galaga original arcade machine it has its own sound so if you find a Ms Pac-Man Galga 20th anniversary arcade machine in a bar or in an arcade go give it a try head how it sounds different the the original Ms Pac-Man 1981 from Midway Balley MFG I own arcade machines I want arcade 1 up to release theirs the same way the arcade machines were everyone should know how the teenage mutant ninja turtles theme song should sound like I was ripped off by arcade 1 up no warning
I'll have to check that out with Ms. Pac-man/Galaga.
