    My two main road bikes are my 650 Triumph with a hardtail and Magneto and the other one is my 883 Harley Sportster with 400,000 miles on her. Untouched engine. Original. Worn-out moving Parts as usual on cycle have gone through three Drive belts they generally live around 100,000 miles plus each. I've gone through 37 back tires and 17 front tires. Runs good drives good. Unbelievably reliable and dependable. Rides nice and cool even in Florida in the summertime. I love it like an old dog who has been with you forever.

      I agree. I don’t think they would be a problem though. I did a max of 50mph on it. Only thing I would say is the basic model suffers like all bikes without a front screen. Pick the speed up and you notice the wind. Thats why I would pick the top spec one. The tourer would solve that.

    The key thing I've heard against these bikes so far is that the brakes have a dead feel. They need to be pulled on hard,a heavy application on the pedal to work.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t find that. My break test was at 30mph and they felt really sharpe. Front and rear. No idea what they are like at high speed breaking though. I was very gentle on this ride.

    Coming from a Harley Sportster like you, I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these…
    How is the low down torque compared to your 883? Do you have to rev it to get some power or can you idle around town and let the hell out just when you need or want it like on the Sportster?
    Do you think it has more space two up as the Sportster or is it especially for the passenger cramped?
    Added with windshield - touring seat - backrest and panniers would it make a good 2up tourer for longer journeys like my 2004 1200C?
    Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was very lazy riding around town. Quite similar to the Sportster without the great noise. The seat seems to be a little bit wider so it’s more comfortable. I didn’t take anyone on the back but there looks like a pillion would have plenty of room. With the back rest they would be comfortable for long journeys so I think the top spec version would make a great 2 up tourer.

    All this talk about Sportsters, lf l had a Sportster it would have to be an 04 or newer and a 1200. The before were not rubber mounted and would vibrate your teeth out. The 883 has shorter gearing than a 1200 lacks in power and both only have 5 speeds. The good thing is it has opposite side drives. The belt alot easier and quicker to change like on a Victory. The bigger HD’s u have to remove the primary to change the belt and oil changes are a pain. 3 different areas. The RE has 2 valve heads so it’s only gonna make so much power. But that’s not its intention.

  • @frankmarkovcijr5459
    @frankmarkovcijr5459 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Showa shock absorbers are made by Honda. They also make a suspension for Harley-Davidson as well as their fuel injection. I ride a solid mount 883 Harley Sportster my 1999 with 400000 miles on original engine. I don't find the vibrations objectionable and here it is you have a rubber Mount Sportster and you object to what little vibration is left. I think the new Stormbreaker is going to blow the Royal Enfield Interceptor out of the water. With the huge number of accessories out there as well as performance updates Sportster has it all over the Royal Enfield meteor hydraulic valve adjustment easy to change oil and filter nice clean cheap belt drive no change no sprockets no lubricating the chain adjusting and replacing chain and sprockets as necessary. My belts have lasted an average over 100,000 miles each. I am still on the original engine untouched. It has been a paragon of reliability and dependability I Road it to work for years and years. Still runs good drives good oh yes at 250,000 miles I had to replace the stator because it was just worn out. It has been more reliable and dependable that in my wildest dreams because I bought it pacifically so I would have a choice of shop to do top-end job and stuff like that on them and I have not needed to do anything other than replace worn-out parts. I always recommend them highly when I see people looking at them in the showroom. Since I have had the bike over 20 years and put so many miles on it and I recommend it highly they figure I must know what I'm talking about especially when I tell them how many miles I have on the bike. I change the oil twice a year and I change the filter every other shot. They had 20,000 miles on it when I bought it. Like a rehome dog it is so happy here. It may not be worth anything monetarily speaking but it is worth a lot to me.

    Not a fan of the cruiser style but this has some nice stuff going on. I have a 650 Interceptor and I love the transmission and clutch. The Engine is smooth and it's performance is more than adequate..but the foot pegs are a disaster.. I am always getting tangled in them at rest. The seat is painful after one hour. I think this forward control setup would be much better.

    Wish your review had been longer and included some country lanes and dual carriageway stuff, but I understand the bike has no miles on it. I ordered mine on Jan 3rd as soon as my dealer was taking orders, same colour as your test bike, pick it up on March 1st when new plates come out. I,m going to ask him to remove the rear pegs for me ‘cos’ as soon as I get home I’m taking the pillion😂 seat off. I’m also swapping the mirrors for upside down bar ends, and if the screen is any good that’ll be going on as well, tinted maybe. People have expressed concern there’s only a single disc on the front and might not cope with the weight of the bike, but the Harley 883 as you know, is 15 kg more, also has a single disc and seems to cope just fine. One gripe though, after the first 300 miles and you take it in for the first service, your wallet be £400 lighter😳 that was reported in one of the videos last week, hope they’re wrong, anyway ride safe and keep the videos coming 👍🏻

    Hmm...Indian reviewers and few Americans who attented the launch in India have been complaining about the really stiff suspension setup. Specifically the rear one. I wonder how stiff your Harley was to make you feel like this is softer on the bumps...lol But in my short ride experience there's nothing much to complane about it's a cruiser at the end of the day, on bad roads you will feel the road a bit more. If you like cruisers then get it. You'll enjoy it.

    • @AlexAugustinex
      @AlexAugustinex ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GillyBikes I'm not sure if they make any changes. If they were to make changes to the suspension setup based on region then it should be softer for India and harder for the UK. Since the roads are better in the UK and speeds will be high, they could make the shocks stiffer to get more stability and much less brake dive from higher speeds. Softer for India cause the roads are bad and the average speed will be under 70 Kmph.

    A Yamaha XS650 was a much better motorcycle. A Japanese copy of a German motorcycle and you don't do better than the German. The Kawasaki kz750 twin had cast Wheels disc brakes belt drive as well as kick and electric start. With a relatively easy valve adjustment procedure. Either one of those would knock the Royal Enfield Interceptor into third place. Both of those motorcycles would not be imported into India due to high protective tariffs to protect domestic industry. England has such cherif dating from when they actually had an industry to build motorcycles which they do not anymore but they still have the import tariff that cost English motorcyclist unnecessarily. It just cost you money when you buy the bike. The only good thing I can say about the Royal Enfield Interceptor is that it's nice and expendable if it gets destroyed in an accident is easily replaced.
