It was criminal what the government and greencore were allowed to do to such a great industry and employer , the footage brings back great memories of hauling into the 4 sugar factorys we had at one time☺️
Many times I brought the beet trains in and out of the factory for discharge and shunted the yard as well. It would take an hour and 20 mins to wash out 28 wagons. It's shocking that the factory was demolished. It was scandalous.
Two things come to mind when seeing this video. 1. The sun shining along the track, ideal for solar panels miles of it could power the whole of Mallow. 2. Sugar beat could again be big a crop by turning it into ethenol for the E10 Petrol instead of importing it.
@@martinwalsh3228 I can promise 1000% that no passenger train will be in operation for the Ryder Cup or after that. The line probably won't be open for freight either. Also the line to the Mallow Sugar factory goes to a field miles and miles from Adare.
We need to bring back sugar beet processing to Ireland, as well as flour milling. Outsourcing those processes to Britain might, repeat MIGHT, have made sense when the UK was an EU member state, but definitely does not now, after it has committed Brixit. And as 'Linde Forklift points out, we could be producing our own liquid biofuels in the sugar factories. We also need to stop subjecting our rail system to 'Death by a thousand cuts'....
The death by 1000 cuts has already happened. The rail lines are Gone Gone Gone. Bicycle tracks and greenways are the way to silence the rail restoration lobby.
Despicable what the government of the time did to the mallow sugar plant the beet campaign was a massive seasonal job for workers coming up to Christmas time
Minister of agriculture came from Donegal that time and she let go the one today 20 22 is from Donegal again he is nothing better it is criminal what happen
Great footage, a bird's eye view of a once busy place, the music is very suitable, it stirs my inner emotions and memories, nature is claiming it back

It was the EU who killed it off on purpose.

Thanks!
Thanks for your support, much appreciated
Jayker , it's amazing the way the hold beet industry is gone for ever, & never too be back.... Very sad
I am looking at a circa 1921 railway map of Ireland which I have. The live line in the video must be the Tralee branch. Wonderful video. Thank you.
It's on the killarney line , and the sugar beet sidings do run into where the plant was but no further
Thanks For Sharing, Cool Vid!! What’s the music if I can ask please
Amazing footage !!!!

Very interesing video.
Reopening of the Railway line should happen to prevent 1) Traffic Jams, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Pollution.
but this line goes to nothing now!
@@ArcadiaJunctionHobbies 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare will need all those services to resume.

This is just a siding to a former factory (since demolished). The running line visible beside the wagons is in use, being the line to Tralee.
@@ewanduffy Should be 24 hour trains in Summertime only & St. Stephen's Day trains.
If it was still there they be making ethanol out of the beet today making serious money
