Thanks for the review. The Tudor BB38 was my Grail watch until the Blue came out. Then I thought the BB38 looked a little tacky. Mate I have to back you on keeping the CW Trident it looks way classier and has a better bracelet than Tudor. Good choice and I know which one to buy now thanks!
Great review Alan! How do you think the overall quality of Christopher Ward watches compare to brands like SInn, Oris and Longines? And how far is it from the Tudor Black Bay 58? Thanks.
Thanks! I think CW are right up there with all of them really. I own the sinn 556a and love that and I’ve also had an oris aquis which I loved. I don’t think it’s too far from the Tudor but the Tudor is a tad more premium if I’m completely honest. Don’t really like saying that because it implies the CW isn’t premium when it clearly is when you consider it’s price point! 😊👍
Hello, great review, it really does suit you much better than that Tudor! I am also small wristed, I have a 6-inch wrist and wish to order the same model but I am worried that the clasp is too big and chunky. Can't decide to buy it with or without a bracelet. Do you know how much the watch weights with the links taken out?
So sorry for the late reply. I took a break from TH-cam. Thanks for your comment. I don’t have the watch now but I can say that even though the clasp is big it never really bothered me. I’m not sure of the weight sorry 🙏👍
You're not wrong in stating that there aren't many reviews of the 38mm version out there. I own the 39mm Sealander and that one (I think) wears a bit too large on my 17cm wrist (6.7 in). In fact: To me it looks *pretty* similar on my wrist to how the BB58 looks on your wrist. Meaning I also think I'm *just* getting away with it.. :) Sadly, I cannot be sure if I would need the 38 or 40mm version of the Trident, since you can't really compare a Sealander type sports-watch to a diver. My two remaining 39mm Steinhart Ocean One divers are pretty much perfect in size for me while their 42mm version were too large. Weirdly enough, I had a buddy's 40mm Submariner on wrist the other day (mid 90s, pre-Super Case model) and it looked totally fine. So it's always a bit of a lottery and I just wish there was a way for me to put the CWs on my wrist before I buy. Still: I think they really upped their game with the new Trident and the little updates it got. Like the Bezel which seems to follow the design of the Tide Trident. Which, BTW, is one model I'd buy *instantly* if they only offered it in a smaller case-size.. :) I'm currently thinking very hard about selling my 39mm Sealander and getting either the 36mm version or the 38mm Trident 300.
Sounds like a very similar experience to myself! The Steinhart 39, black bay 58, trident pro 300 40mm are all great choices for both of us then I think! I agree on the sealander being different as it’s not a diver and I personally think is more suited to the 36mm. I’ve just reviewed the new oxygen colour 36mm by the way if you want to check that out. Thanks for sharing your experiences and it’s nice to know it’s similar to myself 😊👍
Thanks for the review. A matter of personal taste but I prefer the COSC certified 65 Dartmouth which is unique looking but looks like it's been discontinued now. This has a bit more generic look to it and I'm not keen on the white surround on the date or the display back. The case on the Dartmouth is 41mm, my wrist is 7.2 " so looked perfect for me. It is, I bought one a few months ago and haven't regretted it. It's a keeper. You can't go wrong with a Christopher Ward, whichever style you prefer.
Great first review, pls continue reviewing watch. You have the same wrist size as mine, so is a great comparations on the wrist. Pls show your watch collection on the wrist. Thank you
CW Watches are beautiful, great quality and at incredibly good value prices. I've got a Malvern retro Limited Edition, it's a classic dress watch, very simple and clean and I love it! I wear it with suits and jeans every day! I'm lucky I went to Maidenhead and had the showroom experience with Declan. He makes a good cup of tea! It was only an hours drive for me so wasn't to bad. You can try the whole range and different sizes so you can leave with the perfect watch. CW are going places and my next purchase will be from them. Great watches, Great quality, Great prices and Great people.
Buying this bad black Betty tomorrow with engraving on the back for my over $1M in sales in 2023. Bonus to myself for being the top seller in my company. You do great reviews and have great taste in watches! I've been eyeing up CW for awhile now. Your review made me pull the trigger. I had a couple others on the list and was deciding on which one to get for my personal bonus to myself. This watch is hitting value so high above its price especially with the revisions and smaller size options. I'm a 6.5" wrist. I have some various size watches and some I feel are a little too big. You have to see them on the wrist to really know. 38mm on your wrist looks perfect so that's what I'm getting. Liked and subscribed

Great video! From watching the video I ordered the watch, but with the white dial. Please can you tell me where the rubber straps are from at the end of the video. Love them!
Thanks for the video. Subscribed. If I have a 6.5-inch wrist, do you think I should go with 38 or 40? I do have a BB58 as well and I like it but definitely don't want a bigger watch, BB58 dimensions are the maximum for me.
Great review, this fits you perfectly. Apologies if you already covered this but what is the lume like compared to the Tudor and in general? I see they are using the top x1 grade of lume on this but with the C1 colour which is usually only about 1/3 as bright as BGW9 (which i expected to see on this watch). However BGW9 isn’t available in x1 grade which makes it difficult to compare. I’m wary of c1 as my previous experiences have been poor.
Thanks! I’m sorry I forgot to over this actually! I’ll have a good look and compare and get back to you. I’ll stick it on my instagram at the weekend (link in bio) 👍
I don’t actually have it now as I’m forever changing but I do have the same watch in blue! Still a fantastic choice for a diver at 38mm and I wear it often 🙏👍
Cheers mate. Sign up to the newsletter at Christopher ward and I recommend joining the Christopher ward enthusiasts Facebook group and you'll be kept informed on the vouchers etc 👍
Great video, imo I think they should have just left th bezel the same as the trident pro 600, this bezel looks too crammed with numbers and much thinner in comparison, I guess I have to wait for version 2.
Thanks for this Video, verry nice watch this Trident 300, i own a Sinn 556 i. My question is can i use the Trident bracelet on my Sinn watch, does it fit? both have a lugwith 20mm.
I’m not too sure about that and I don’t have both to hand to try it sorry. I do think it’s unlikely though as although they’re both 20mm the lugs are different and probably have different pin hole positions. Cheers
Different styles really. The sinn is definitely more tooly and the trident is a diver but I really like both. There’s always been something about the sinn that’s a bit special to me though 👍
Having the Trident Pro Mk3 42mm I was unsure whether I needed a slimmer, more ‘wearable’ diver from Christopher Ward. For disclosure I also have a Tudor BB58 in blue and a Christopher Ward Supercompressor, but the white faced Trident Pro 300 was an impulse purchase but one that I am very glad I made. For under £600.00 on orange tropic rubber it’s a steal and my interest in a white faced Omega Seamaster Pro has all but disappeared.
@@Time_and_time_again I did go for the 42mm having a 7” wrist, and consequently I’ve stopped researching the SMP300 as the Chris Ward does everything I need. Now the new 39mm Pelagos on the other hand is very desirable.
@@tiote_paris6106 I bought the black because I like to wear a lot of black shirts and think it would match well. Also like you said it's a bit more legible than the white. That said I think the white would be really nice as well and has a clean look.
I own Tudors and Wards. One day, lady luck will hopefully shine on you (maybe also consider the new Ranger?) and you will feel you can splash out on the Tudor. In the meantime, Ward now have perfected their design language, and their quality is undoubted. Size wise your 38 fits you perfectly. Sooh, lucking out with an accurate movement you won't miss the 58 . Completely. And you should have nearly £2k extra in the bank!
My eyes just aren’t the same as everyone else’s! For me the Tudor is by far the classier watch and looks far better on this very slim wrist. If I had both and had to lose one it would be no contest…….I’d be keeping the Tudor Black Bay!
There’s no doubt the Tudor is classy! I just feel the CW wears a bit nicer on my wrist. This comment definitely makes me question my decision though 😂👍
Do you think this watch would work well in typical office attire (smart shirt, no tie top button undone, no suit jacket but maybe a sports jacket or smartish coat)? A lot of people seem to wear divers to work now but it depends on the watch, imo a modern sub works well but i find my lorier neptune too tooly/vintage looking, with bb58 borderline. Thanks!
Thank you so much for making this video! There's not many reviews on this watch given how new it is, and I think the black dial version looks even better on video than it does in photos. Truly a beautiful watch. I've been trying to decide what my first watch should be for a while now, and I've narrowed it down to either this one or the Sinn 556. May I ask how you think they compare to each other? I know they're quite different in style, but I'm mainly wondering if the Sinn feels like it's a step ahead of the CW in terms of quality/ construction. Of course, if you have any other noteworthy input comparing the two, I would love to hear it. Cheers and thanks again!
Hi there! Sorry I’m usually quicker at replying! I think they are both equal in terms of quality and you can’t go wrong with either really. I see the Sinn as a tool watch and this one as a diver so obviously different styles. I enjoy wearing both watches and sometimes they get half a day each on the wrist haha. I’m about to upload my c63 unboxing too so that’ll be worth a look as it’s another great choice 🙏👍
Honestly, I will probably end up owning both eventually haha. But everybody seems to agree that Sinn just exudes a sense of quality, and I was wondering whether CW does that to the same degree (despite the considerably lower price point). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I've owned the Sinn 556i and also currently own a C63 GMT (and have ordered the exact same watch in this video). I honestly felt like the CW was superior. The bracelet and clasp is much better (toolless microadjustment and quick release bracelets are a game changer), the applied indices and hands make it "pop" more and the case shape and design is much more interesting. The Sinn is fine but quite overrated IMHO and whilst I enjoyed it, I haven't really missed it since moving it on whereas I wear the CW regularly (and have ordered another one)
@@brandongacuzana3792 I would definitely try to get both if I was you! Then you can decide for yourself but I think it’s purely down to personal opinion. In my opinion I totally understand why there would be differing opinions but I’d say the Sinn is a special special watch even with its couple of flaws 🙏👍
@@Gary-li7ib let me know what you think when you get yours mate please 👍 I also tried the 556i and was quite quick to let it go. The 556a though… I love 👍
I’d love to see a comparison between the BB36 and the new 36mm C63 when you get it, as well as between the c63 and c60. Great review, keep up the good work!
Great job on this video! If there's one piece of advice I may give you for your next videos, it would be this: While I absolutely love that you are moving the watch around a lot (which gives people a good feeling of what the watch would actually look like in 3D), I think you are oftentimes moving the watch too fast. I often wanted to take a closer look at a detail but the the watch was already in another position. Anyways... Keep up the great work. I'd be surprised if your channel did not reach 1k subs within the next 2 months, as long as you keep the videos coming. Are you considering getting a CW Sealander in 36mm as well? One watch, which I think you might absolutely adore, is the Traska Commuter. A great watch for small wrists. It's obviously inspired by the OP. But that's not a bad thing in my opinion 🙂
Thanks so much for the feedback and all very valuable! Yes I’m hoping my c63 is coming early next week so will be doing some videos! I’ll check out the traska too thanks 👍
It’s a lovely watch mate and it’s right up there with them in lots of ways but IMO I’d say the bb36, sinn and CW in that order. Having said that I feel like it’s like comparing apples and oranges 😊👍

@@Time_and_time_again I actually bought the exact size color model and returned the day I recieved it. The watch just didn’t click with me and looked way too small even on my tiny 6inch wrist. Going to consider the trident pro 600 40mm.
Great video, I have a 40mm white dial one on the way and I’m beyond excited. You wear the black bay very well by the way. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and have been dailying a omega smp 300 that is 41.5 mm for a three years with no issues. I’m typically a small watch person but found that the watch wears much smaller from everyone else’s perspective, it fills my wrist out when I look at it but in mirrors, pictures, etc it takes up closer to two thirds of my wrist. In the camera though the 38 mm c ward does look perfect.
Thank you 🙏 Yes, you’re right about the size of a watch can be very different from different perspectives! I’ve been looking at the smp and I believe they do a 36mm variant but I’d imagine it may wear a little too small. Hopefully I’ll get one in for review 🤞👍

Bet that new 37mm blackbay is getting you excited!
It certainly is! How did you guess? 😂 I absolutely cannot wait to get hands on with that beauty! 😃👍
Excellent review! I hope CW will offer a blue 38mm.
Thank you and yes a blue 38mm would be great! 👍
Sadly, I cannot be sure if I would need the 38 or 40mm version of the Trident, since you can't really compare a Sealander type sports-watch to a diver.
Love the comparison with the BB58! Next on the horizon, the new BB54? Might be the best of both worlds
Cheers! I’ve just bought the pelagos 39 so will be doing a video on that. The bb54 looks right up my street too! 🙏👍
That CW fits you perfectly, wear it in the best of health.
Thank you 🙏👍
Oh and the dial has my name on it, what could be cooler than that!!!
Thank you
Thank you and yes I’m hoping to do lots more 🙏👍
Would look great on an Artem sailcloth, black with white stitching.
Sounds great I’ll check one of those straps out thanks 👍

Fantastic! Sorry for the delay as I’d taken a break! You’ve made the perfect choice 🙏👍
Great video! Gorgeous watch; I think I'm gonna pick one up. I appreciate you showing it with different straps. I like the NATO style strap you showed, black with a silver or white stripe. Who makes that? A link would be awesome. Thanks!

@@Time_and_time_again thanks!
Great video! From watching the video I ordered the watch, but with the white dial. Please can you tell me where the rubber straps are from at the end of the video. Love them!
Thanks! The white looks fantastic too! I’ve linked all of the straps in the video description 🙏👍
Great video !
What would be the best option for a 7.5 inch wrist ? I like to wear watches that are not too big but 38mm might be too small...
Thanks mate. I think the 42 would be a good fit for 7.5” wrist or even the 40 👍
I have same wrist size. More watch reviews please 😍
Thanks fellow small wrister! Will do 😊👍
Simply love the brand and quality
Amazing watch, please let me know how long the clasp actually is. Thank you
Sorry only just seen this. I'll measure with the calipers tomorrow and let you know 👍
Hi, sorry for the delay! Just measured 43mm! Thanks
My wrist size is similar, so debating on the 38mm or the 40mm. Wish there was somewhere in the US to compare in-person. That 38mm looks great on you.
If you’re wrist is similar size I’d definitely go for the 38mm! 🙏👍
Thanks for the video. Subscribed. If I have a 6.5-inch wrist, do you think I should go with 38 or 40? I do have a BB58 as well and I like it but definitely don't want a bigger watch, BB58 dimensions are the maximum for me.
Thank you mate 🙏 I’d recommend the 40mm I think. Even on my 6.25” wrist I may have been ok with 40 👍
This watch is really good looking. I’m gonna pull the trigger on the 40mm.
I have the Atoll version in Reef Blue……it’s an incredible watch 😍
Lovely! 🙏🤔
Hello Alan, what watch is that in the background on the orange strap please?
Hi Richard, that’s the sinn 556a, great watch! 👍
Any change in opinion about a year into ownership? Is it still part of the collection? Thank you!
I don’t actually have it now as I’m forever changing but I do have the same watch in blue! Still a fantastic choice for a diver at 38mm and I wear it often 🙏👍
Great video! I’m going to pick one up. Can you give details on how you got the voucher?
Cheers mate. Sign up to the newsletter at Christopher ward and I recommend joining the Christopher ward enthusiasts Facebook group and you'll be kept informed on the vouchers etc 👍
Great vid 👌 Where did you get the yellow strap at the end please?
Thanks! Got it from Amazon and you’ll find the link in the video description mate 👍
@@Time_and_time_again Super. Really appreciate the reply!
Great video, imo I think they should have just left th bezel the same as the trident pro 600, this bezel looks too crammed with numbers and much thinner in comparison, I guess I have to wait for version 2.
Thank you! Yeah I hadn’t thought of that but I can see what you mean 👍
Thanks a lot for the review. I can't see a voucher offer on their website. could you sahre what it is? I'll see if it still works. Thanks
Thanks mate. If you sign up to the newsletter on the site they’ll send you the latest coupon code 🙏👍
😮😮😮 amazing review my friend.....nice to hear a fellow Merseysider on yt good review
Thank you mate! Sorry for the delayed reply! 🙏👍
The BB wore fine, it's all about comfort.
The larger clasp reminds me of the larger clasp on the Submariner. It is kind of a shock at first but then you get used to it.
🙏👍
Thanks for this Video, verry nice watch this Trident 300, i own a Sinn 556 i. My question is can i use the Trident bracelet on my Sinn watch, does it fit? both have a lugwith 20mm.
I’m not too sure about that and I don’t have both to hand to try it sorry. I do think it’s unlikely though as although they’re both 20mm the lugs are different and probably have different pin hole positions. Cheers
Hope you still have this watch.
I don’t but I am going to buy it again! I miss it!
@@Time_and_time_again lovely to hear. There will, apparently, be a new model coming out sometime this year.
@@frankdirscherl2345 really is that going to happen?
@@absar8304yes, the Lumiere was recently released.
@@absar8304yes, it did.
I see you have a Sinn 556 lying on the table as well … how does that compare to the cw trident?
That’s great if it’s scratched your itch for the seamaster too then! Did you get the 42mm? 👍
@@Time_and_time_again I did go for the 42mm having a 7” wrist, and consequently I’ve stopped researching the SMP300 as the Chris Ward does everything I need. Now the new 39mm Pelagos on the other hand is very desirable.
Which dial color is best, the black looks great. Is blue good
I haven’t seen the blue in real life but I always prefer black myself 👍
Great in depth review! It’s on my wish list! Still not 100% sure on which colour I should get though :/
Thanks!!Thats the problem with colour options, having to decide! 😊👍
@@Time_and_time_again i think it’s between the black and the white for me although the legibility on the black seems better
@@tiote_paris6106 I bought the black because I like to wear a lot of black shirts and think it would match well. Also like you said it's a bit more legible than the white. That said I think the white would be really nice as well and has a clean look.
@@benixmaximus I do love the white too but the black bezel kind of puts me off a bit I kind of wish it had been brushed metal or white
Hello, I know your wrist is 6.25 inch but what is your wrist span in mm?
159mm mate 🙏👍
No not wrist circumference but just width of the top portion of your wrist
Thanks for this my friend
Do you think this watch would work well in typical office attire (smart shirt, no tie top button undone, no suit jacket but maybe a sports jacket or smartish coat)? A lot of people seem to wear divers to work now but it depends on the watch, imo a modern sub works well but i find my lorier neptune too tooly/vintage looking, with bb58 borderline. Thanks!
I think it would work perfectly in most settings luke yes! 👍
I’d heard if you’re comfortable with the 38, you should spring for the 40mm. I’m having difficulty deciding.
I’d imagine the 40mm would also wear well on my skinny wrist to be honest 👍
@@Jase_TVI’m from the futuuuure. I feel like 38mm with the white dial might be a good call. The color might enhance the size
CWard looks better than BB58 IMO, so not only size benefit you saved a ton of $$$$.
Size ✅ Price ✅ indeed! 👍
Sorry that you have to let the Black Bay 58 go, that might be regretful once it's gone...
Yes I have a feeling of regret already! I’ve just got a bb36 in though to soften the blow 😊👍
I’d love to see a comparison between the BB36 and the new 36mm C63 when you get it, as well as between the c63 and c60. Great review, keep up the good work!
Your wish is my command mate! Thanks for the kind words and I’ll make sure I do those comparisons 🙏👍
What is the beige field watch in the background of the wrist shots?
So sorry for the late reply I took a break! If I remember rightly it was the seagull 🙏👍
Alan do you like this better than Sinn 556A and Tudor black bay
It’s a lovely watch mate and it’s right up there with them in lots of ways but IMO I’d say the bb36, sinn and CW in that order. Having said that I feel like it’s like comparing apples and oranges 😊👍
Do you happen to know the dial size on the 38?
Also I don’t know how to describe it, but your videos are very calming to watch. Keep up making videos no matter the content, I enjoy them.
Thank you mate 🙏 I know longer have this watch with me so I’m not too sure on the actual dial size but the case is obviously 38mm. It’s probably around 30-32mm at a guess sorry 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again why don’t you no longer have the watch? I just bought this watch after watching your review..so it is sad to hear that you have got rid of it

I have the same wrist size. Do you like your 40mm or do you think a 38 would wear better?
@@ryansantiago5406 I love the 40mm and it’s been my most worn watch since I got it. In my opinion it’s a perfect fit on my wrist.
