It's a Japanese card game with a typical +1 mana/turn system, no summoning sickness and unconditional blocking. It's unique in that the mana system is governed by tokens known as Core, and these Core must be supplied to monsters on the field to keep them alive. Giving them additional Core can increase their Lv, increasing their power and unlocking higher-level effects. There are 6 colours of cards, each with their own characteristics.

Battle Spirits tried to establish an English presence long time ago but it failed in the West, just like Duel Masters
