Thanks for your inquiry. It is better to connect the external air pipe as the fresh air will be intaken constantly for your safer experience. If you don't have a lower opening, there are other two options: 1, you can extend the external air intake pipe through the gap between the ground and the snow skirt of the tent; 2. or you can make an opening on your tent with Winnerwell opener & seal set. @winnerwell would this stove be faster than a normal stove to heat a small ice fishing tent (6.8x6.8x6.8 feet) i'm using as a sauna? Also putting sauna stones and throwing a bit of water on it would it risk getting bent or damaged?

Before I answer that, Winnerwell are probably the best quality hot tent wood burning stoves you can buy. Maybe you have already realised that thru your own research. The reason Winnerwell don't make a habit of admitting their country of origin is because of peoples prejudices. I hope you're not one of them. Winnerwell is a Chinese company.
i got the winnerwell L but do not like the air pipe comeing out of the back .its just more to do .more to take with you .and makeing a hole in your tent for the air hole

Seen this, okay but not for my application. The medium nomad size is better for my cargo conversion but no external air so... Also looking for more conventional through pipe double or triple, the triple available would catch air going down highway in my cargo conversion and maybe allow water intrusion as air may run up pipe and in holes at driving speeds. Only one seems close to what fits my needs is dwarf 3k only thing is i would prefer a stainless stove
