    Very well presented. Very nicely explained. Love the entire set up. The whole bundle and of course the oven! Have had five different Kodiaks, The Cabin tent with the large awning and the walls/screens for the awning, a 10X10 Flexbow VX model, The pick up tent on a Toyota Tacoma, The 8.5 X 6 foot small Flexbow that I call The Cubby and the 10 X 14 screen shelter. Cannot beat their quality and durability!

    I see some guys install a door gasket on that stove and it really helps control the burn and adds to the length of the burn. Seems like a pretty good hack.

      You're exactly right. I have a door gasket I am adding to mine and will be testing it out soon. I found on my Camp Chef stove that it's a "must" in order to control the heat better.
      Great point and thanks for leaving the advice.

    Your videos are great. I really appreciate you doing this awesome review. I have a motorhome, but there's something awesome about tent camping. It's much closer to nature, plus a lot cheaper, because hookups at campgrounds have gotten stupid expensive since covid started. I was on the fence about buying the 12 X 12 tent and stove, but this very detailed review gave me the confidence to buy it. I ordered the whole system and can't wait until it all comes in. Thanks a lot. Colorado is a beautiful place!

      We're glad to help.
      I just posted the Kodiak Canvas 10'x10' setup on MikenRickOutdoors. We're starting to post everything over there as it's taking to much of my time to upload to five TH-cam channels.
      www.youtube.com/@mikenrickoutdoors
      I would like to hear back from you though if you would prefer a channel that is dedicated to only camping or if you're okay with the camping being mixed in with hunting and fishing.

      Thanks for the thumbs up. You may need stove pipe adapter as Mike had to get. Check it out before you hit the outdoors and let me know if you have any questions.
      Lastly, I did not need a stove pipe adapter with my Camp Chef stove but Mike did on his Winnerwell.

    Great video! Been looking at this stove. Can rain water come through the vent holes in the double wall section of the pipe? Looks like water would be able to enter those holes and come out the bottom right into the tent.

      Good question. It's never been an issue on any of our camping trips. So, from our experience, I'm going to say no, but I won't be emphatic about it.
      This may be a question you call and talk to Winnerwell about if it will give you more confidence.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Great videos guys. I noticed that you and your buddy have the two stoves that I am considering right now for a Kodiak 12x12 wall tent. Do either of you have an opinion Winnerwell vs. the Camp Chef Alpine? Hoping for some thoughts from you both as you have firsthand experience with them, thanks!

      Mike has the Winnerwell and I have the Camp Chef stove, but I've been camping with Mike enough to have seen the Winnerwell in action many times, plus have used my Camp Chef a lot.
      I have issues with keeping the temperature controlled in the Camp Chef stove, plus it's really large and heavy. I'm adding some heat resistant tape around the door to try and help control the flow of air so I can keep the stove running a little more cool.
      I prefer the Winnerwell stoves as I have seen Mike be able to control the temperature better, plus many of them have the glass on the side so you can see the warm fire, which I like a lot.
      I would go with Winnerwell. I'm planning on buying the Woodlander Double View - Large this month.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @ Thanks for such a prompt and detailed reply. This is exactly the kind of review I was hoping for! It seems like the winnerwell is a bit smaller than the camp chef, so I just wanted to make sure it was still big enough to do the job. It won’t get used a ton for me, and would probably be used when temperatures are above 15 degrees F.

      The Winnerwell would be perfect, and the medium would probably work. I'm going to test these out more in the future, testing different types and sizes, but for now, if you have the room, I would go with the large as you don't have to worry so much about getting small pieces of firewood.

    Which stove is better camp chef alpine or winner well nomad I see you have both will be using it in a Kodiak canvas tent

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mike has the Winnerwell and I have the Camp Chef, and you're correct, we're both using the same tents, but Mike's is a 12'x12' and mine is a 10'x10' tent.
      After testing both of these a lot, we both like the Winnerwell stove the best.
      The Winnerwell stove is lighter and you can control the temperature better, plus having the glass window in the side gives the tent the great fireside ambiance I love.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.

    How long do those stoves stay hot for without having to re add would? Is their a size you suggest I should get for my 10x10?

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike has to add wood once or twice each night and last November, here in Colorado, it wasn't an option. Mike also has a Big Buddy heater as a backup.
      Mike has one of the largest wood stoves with the oven on top. Honestly, you can go with a smaller stove but then you'll have to cut your wood smaller.
      If I were getting a wood stove for a 10x10, I would go slightly smaller to save space, plus I have found that on really cold nights, I want to keep my cot a few fee away from the sides of the tent.
      I'm not sure I would want to go with the small, and personally would stay with the medium in a 10x10, but it is a personal preference.
      I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    I'm wondering about the glowing red pipe. I just got a winnerwell and iv seen guys with glowing pipes. That's normal? Beautiful spot!

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was glowing red because Mike was trying to get the oven temperature up to 400 degrees when baking the apple pie. We won't be doing that again and other things he cooked, the pipe was not red or barely red.
      Main point here. The pie tasted great but it's not worth doing due to the high heat required.

    Hello! I have the exact same set up and the bottom of my stove burns the bottom of the tent even with the fire proof mat and leg extension. Any words of wisdom on how I can remedy this problem?

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mike has a different fire mat than I do and he only has one. I bought two fire mats and have them overlapped some to give more distance in front of the door to the wood stove but it also is doubled layered directly below the stove. Check out this video below to see exactly how I lay it out.
      th-cam.com/video/YoLqkPZeWCo/w-d-xo.html
      I got my heat shield mats from Colorado Cylinder Stoves, and I have not had any issues with my tent floor overheating or melting and my stove has been extremely hot several times.

    Hi Rick, Great video! Could you explain how you installed the Winnerwell stove Jack over the stove Jack ring that comes installed in the Kodiak 12x12 tent?

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like to but Mike is the one who installed it. He is out on a week long fishing trip here in Colorado with his daughter, so he won't be able to respond for a week.
      He was supposed to make a video of it but hasn't done that yet. I'll forward this message to him so he can respond when he get's home.
      I apologize for this delay.

    Do you think you could put that stove set up in an Airstream RV?

    • @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors
      @campingwithmikenrickoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, and I'll give you my un-professional answer. I would say yes, but you would want to make sure the stove and oven (if you by that also) are secured well so they don't move around while traveling. I would call and talk to WINNERWELL to get their professional advice.
