Great video. Just found your channel. I’ve had my SE DGT for about 6 months. I’ve owned seven SEs, a core SS and an S2 McCarty 594. The DGT is hands down my favorite. So, versatile as you mentioned. I’ve got the sunburst, had it plecked (couldn’t tell much of a difference other than just a perfect set-up for me) added lampshade knobs, and locking tuners, just for esthetics and quicker string changes. Highly recommend getting your hands on one. Love your review and we have the same accent 😉
@@scottrussell9504 Awesome man I am glad you came across my channel! Yea you don't hear much accents like ours on TH-cam at least not on guitar channels. Thanks for watching!
The SE DGT is a great guitar. I have the SE and core DGT’s and the SE (after a PLEK job) plays at least as well if not slightly better than the core. I love them both!
That is interesting! I have this SE and a CE 24 and love both of mine too. I always wondered exactly how much better a core model would actually be other than how beautiful the tops are.
The core model “feels” Luxurious because of the violin carve and nitro finish and I would say has more complex tonal characteristics. But in a band mix situation a listener probably couldn’t tell the difference between the two sonically…
Sorry, but this isn’t the model that is a “replacement Les Paul”. You’re thinking of the singlecut and double cut McCarty 594’s. The DGT is David Grissom’s signature model and it’s really more of a versatile studio guitar that can cover a wider range of styles. Grissom had some input on the regular McCarty models back in the day. Anyway, just wanted to clarify. Still a killer guitar that covers a lot of ground like you said 👍
You are definitely right haha. I don't really have a script and just kinda talk on these videos. I should have been more clear when I was mentioning the Mc Cartys and Les Pauls. What I really meant when I said " they are for people who don't like Les Pauls" is that they can sorta do the Les Paul thing and are similar in some ways but are different and unique enough for someone who doesn't like Les Pauls to like. Thanks for watching and thanks for pointing that out because the DGT is it's own beast for sure!
