“He NEVER Listened!” Ed Davey Apologises To Alan Bates For Refusal To Meet | Post Office Inquiry

- Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey has apologised for his “poorly judged” and “terse” refusal to meet campaigner Sir Alan Bates for five months during his time as postal affairs minister.
Sir Ed, who was in the role between 2010 and 2012, said he dismissed the meeting proposal because he “followed the advice and did not question it”.
Following a letter from Sir Alan in which he told Sir Ed that the Post Office was acting as “judge, jury and executioner”, the MP for Kingston and Surbiton replied by saying: “I do not believe a meeting would serve any useful purpose”.
He denied that he eventually met Sir Alan in October 2010 due to “presentational reasons” despite a briefing note prepared ahead of the meeting suggesting it was a consideration.

Oh, I apologise and that makes everything alright??? People lost their businesses, homes, families and lives because of this and clown Davey's inaction and ignorance. Now he's trying extricate himself from any responsibility. A typical politician.

The way Ed Davey acted during the G.E. just goes to show what he is like. No surprises with what he said at the enquiry. How people voted for him is amazing.

Isnt it funny that he was called to this hearing AFTER the GE. As with all these people who have failed in their job he gets off scott free. His title should be removed and those who voted for him should be really ashamed.
Why did yer man receive a knighthood. There many thousands of people who worked through Covington, putting their lives at risk, not just medical people but retail workers , refuse collectors and many other workers without whose services the country would have collapsed but they were barely acknowledged and then vilified when they asked for a higher wage. What exactly did Davies do ??

Sir Allen’s letter was compelling and, for anyone with an ounce of common sense and/or decency, clearly worthy of further investigation. How anonymous officials, and Davey himself, (who essentially rubber-stamped a reply from his team), could possibly issue such a dismissive reply is a travesty in itself. The disconnect between citizens, big organisations, the legal system and government needs to be addressed. As for individuals such as Davey and Swinson masquerading as politicians, that’s exactly what they are doing.
Jarnail Singh said it was a compliment to call him a post box. I have watched many PO witnesses and am struck that from top to bottom these industries and government seem to be populated by overpaid officials having numerous jobs (and pension pots) awash with risk charts, board papers, meetings and memos all designed like musical chairs to keep all problems moving on and never land anyone with any responsibility.

A question that has not been answered. Why were the BEDs not systemic. What was unique to the SPMs who were affected by those same BEDs.

The thing is Davey not only ignored these people but helped a city law firm prosecute many of them while securing £275,000 in fees! He has helped ruin people financially and some poor souls took their own lives! Remember the scandal of MP's having 2nd jobs besides their constituency duties!? He was one of the worst! ~28,000 voters in Kingston and Surbiton need to take a long look at themselves and see what they have done by returning this odious creature back to the H of P!

Yes he is the most honest, decent, trustworthy & loyal human being to have graced the house of parliament 😂😂
When I made a complaint against a housing warden who had breached my data protection rights, which resulted in me being verbally abused by an ambulance service patient transport driver, my complaint was referred back to the....housing warden by the area manager! When I pointed out that this was a conflict of interest, the silly coo went on leave! My situation descended from there and I was eventually forced to leave my sheltered housing flat because of more verbal abuse and physical threats by residents who were friends of the warden! Police were absolutely useless! Didnt know the law from their backsides! And lawyers didnt want to know because it didnt pay much! When I tried to bring a claim myself, the housing wardens employers submitted false statements to the court and the lawyers actually lied to the judge! Sadly, I got the document submission dates wrong because of the state I was in, and the judge struck it out! He was very grumpy and actually threatened to enforce a costs Order against me if I tried to claim again! Its truly shocking what they all did to me! And then the police and courts wonder why people like me take matters into our own hands! Well, make no mistake. Justice will be done and SEEN to be done! And I know for sure that the subpostmasters and others affected by the scandal will receive their Justice too. God Bless them all. 😶🙏⚖️🙏!
To be fair, civil service Protected gov and officials. I doubt he was told or knew but permanent secs of dept probably did.
Paula Vennells had to give back her OBE because she trusted Fujitsu double first in law directors, against all the evidence, why hasn't Ed Davey, Pat Mcfadden, Swinson, Cable, Tolhurst et all, who also chose to believe in lies against the evidence been asked to return their salaries; the sub-post masters were forced to pay out of their own pocket for these people's "mistakes". These MPs have no shame, nor the people who voted for them, or media who haven't exposed them.
