    Glad to see you and an update. I want to thank you again for getting me to try the 18650 batteries. I now have 7,000 cells in my battery bank. Knock on wood,but I haven’t had any problems with anything in my system. I haven’t even found a single cell that heats up. My system has been up for over 5 years and it’s nice to not have a power bill anymore. I love your setup, and look forward to more videos.

      Fleshing out some ideas, hard part is getting those details accurate. Another idea might be to do a stress test on the BMS- like capacity test a 25kWh battery with the BMS alone!

Whilst I have no desire to do it myself, I found it very interesting. I give you an idea. Test the interaction of two types of connection connected cells at the same time. Parallel and serial. with two BMS modules. I'm sure the result will surprise you. 4 in series 4.2x4=16.8v (3000mAh) + 8 Parallel 8x8=4.2v (24000mAh). You can increase the amount cells, but the dependence will be different, but it should be the same. I am sure you will like this test.

    Question, I'm doing same configuration of 4x80 18650s packs and spot welded nickel sheet on top/bottom. I had issues with next step, soldering down the solid copper wire to the nickel sheet. I was curious if possible to just sandwich the packs to each other to gain 12v...Instead of soldering copper wire on every pack and just smash them together. 😅

    What voltage do you leave your cells sit at for the self discharge test? Most of the datasheets I've read show that 30 days left at 4.20V is going to knock off a fair bit of capacity. I don't understand why people don't use a lower voltage......leave them at 3.60V and they shouldn't self discharge at all. If they self discharge even a little bit then they are no good.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      4.2, let them sit for a week or two to 'level off' take the voltage reading after that week or two and check again in a few more weeks, the higher the voltage the faster i'll loose charge so if you did it at 3.7 v it would drop a little slower...

    Brother I have one question I ask from all popular TH-camrs but no one correctly answer that so now I ask you about that
    IS 18650 cells Bater then Lifepo4 ?
    If batter then Lifepo4 then why in electric vehicles using that 18650 ?
    Why and where should choose 18650 cell ? If compare price 18650 need more time to build and need more care so why should not go for Lifepo4 sorry my English is not good if possible you can explain that in your next video with complete details
    Thank you for always bring very informative videos

      thats according to all the conversion charts
      that is enough for a small off grid cabin with very little AC electrical use

      @@HBPowerwall if you are using 1 amp at 48 volts, you will still be using 1 amp at 47.9...47.8...47.6
      watts will change w=v x a
      so 48v x 1a = 48w
      as 47.9 x 1 = 47.9
      as 47.8 x 1 =47.8
      because battery voltage goes down as you use amperage at the same rate
      The nominal capacity of the lead-acid batteries is given for the 20h discharge - 100 Ah lead-acid battery is able to provide 5 Amps for 20 hours.
      it is always said to look at your amp rating to know how much battery you need to run in a certain amount of time.....no battery company or inverter company tells you to look at watts
      they tell you to convert watts x voltage to get the amperage....because watts change as you use voltage
      inverters may put out the same AC watts, but DC watts will go down, but both AC and DC amps wont change if what you are using is using 1 amp, it will always be 1 amp for both

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  ปีที่แล้ว

      or mr mechanical engineer you build the battery to actually suit your needs and the capacity of the inverter and there isn't a day in our Australian Summer they will over heat.. lol Also BMS with programable fan control, temp sensors, shunt trip so if it does get even warm it'll self protect. Then if that fails and it all goes south the 2mm steel 65kg enclosure will just glow a warm red color till my fun little time investment melts into a puddle of metal. NOW should that happen I took the time to install a HD camera that records in 4k 24/7, I'll upload that footage to youtube and 10x this videos income.. win win i'd say... but i'm just a little DIYer havin a crack.
