Enjoyed the pixelated Blue Blur references. Apparently my brother says a Hedgehog has decided to live in his back garden an bullies a family cat off his bowl on occasion. I've never actually seen a Hedgehog in person so will visit soon.🦔☘️
You forgot to mention that contrary to the Sonic games and cartoons, chili dogs are a no-no for most hedgehogs as chili contains seasonings that they ca't handle too well right now. BUT you CAN give them unseasoned meats and PRETEND they're chili dogs. Another fact, a real hedgehog isn't as fast as Sonic but is pretty fast for our real world. Common hedgehogs can run in short bursts of speeds of about 4 mph.
@@AnimalFactFiles Now you do. Male hedgehogs are also polyamorous as you said...at least on Earth. Depending on the conrinuity or series, Sonic either has one lover or a few. Some fanfics have him with, say, Sally or Amy.
I heard the Hedgehogs will even eat snakes, and not just small ones, be even large snakes, basically what they do is curl up into a Ball while the snake is trying to eat the Hedgehog and they wait until the snake tires itself out, It will then Break the snakes back and start eating the snake, Venom gland and Everything
I had one as a pet way back when (a little rescue girl named Stewie), and it surprised me just how quickly they can scoot for having such ridiculously short legs. We'd put her in one of those plastic roll around balls to give her some exercise while still keeping her safe, and we had to keep an eye on her because she'd just take off if you weren't paying enough attention.
How do hedgehogs mate? How do porcupines mate? How do those tenrecs mate? How do spiky things mate? I mean I know that babies are born with soft/underdeveloped spikes but there's no escape from those spikes when they reach adulthood.
True! Those spines will be there! Of course, I'm sure you've seen videos of people holding their pet hedgehogs. The spines don't always have to be dangerous, especially when relaxed! These animals can lower their spines when not engaged. With porcupines the females will even hold their tails up to help cover their quills. I'm sure the experience still isn't the easiest to maneuver for either party, though! 😋
This video was so cute! It was kind of sad learning they eat mice and all hedge-moms are single though. Still, very informative and packed with great clips of the lil' spike balls fumbling around haha.
Interesting video about hedgehogs. I was curious about how fast they are. I didn't expect them to be fast. They are one of the few mammals with spikes. Hedgehogs do curl up into a ball. However that is just a way for them to reinforce thier spiky defense. They can't roll along the ground like a bowling ball. With life forms, it is normal to specialize. So an animal doesnt need to be fast if they specialize in another method of defense. Skunks are slow and even clumsy. Turtles and snails are the most notorious for being slow. I expected hedgehogs to be like that. So I went to this video to look it up. I did guess right. 4 mph is pathetic. I think that may be about the speed of a hunan's brisk walk. Humans are already pretty slow. Maybe humans work in a similar way. They are super specialized in intellegence. So that opens up other defense options. If a human is attacked by an animal, they can just shoot the animal with a gun. No running required. Even in anchient times, humans would have something, such as a club or a spear. Maybe part of the reason why hedgehog is slow is that they are smal. Small animals have shoerter legs and therefore shorter strides. That makes the animal slower, unless they pick up the rate of stepping. Still I don't think that makes things. Mice are about the same size as hedgehogs, and they don't hace alternative defenses. They should be able to do much better than 4 mph. Mice are fast for thier size, and they can really scurry. Even roaches can scurry. Sonic is very unrealistic. He doesn't make much sense in terms of biology. However he is a popular video character, so he is fine. Specilization can also help with video game characters. Some characters are faster and others are stronger in other areas. One game I am a fan of is Pokemon. In there, an extreme example is Shuckle. Yeah, don't expect this guy to win any races anytime soon.

1:11 Hey look it's Sonic and Princess Sally god I hope that joke doesn't go over the heads of people scrolling through the comments
Awww, and Amy decides to have lunch as well.
1:43 the European badger is another one of the main predators to hedgehogs
So in other words, Sticks should be Sonic's enemy.
So real tails would’ve eaten real sonic long ago
Not really. Fox kits lack the ability to unroll a hedgehog. An adult, maybe
1:40 tails no, don't!!
cute boys!
I love hedge hogs. it's interesting that their relationship to porcupines is more or less the same as a mouses relationship to a shrew...
Animals are strange and wonderful things. =)
Hi
Hedgehogs go just fast enough for one to go "look at 'im go!"

For sure! They're still pretty quick! I never knew about the unseasoned meat, though!

Stewie sounds so sweet! They can really scoot if they want to!!

Glad you enjoyed it even if some parts were a little sad!
On Mobius, male hedgehogs stay with their wives and children.
Yeah but 4.5mph adjusted for size is more like 10mph if it were as big as a lion.
Wonderful video!

I Googled mice, because I was curious. Mice are twice as fast as hedgehogs. They have a speed at 8 mph. That is impressive for a pipsqueak.
