This is a video I needed! I recently got into saltwater tanks and I also got 2 clown fish! They are awesome fish and a great addition to a reef tank! My reef is coming along nicely if you ask me!
I have been spending all this week researching this exact topic, so glad to have clear answers to all my questions from a team I respect! Thanks for the vid!
I used your how to set up the saltwater tank video series to start mine. Great series! I have a 35 gallon with a pair of clowns, some snails and a neon purple fish of some sort.
So I know how aggressive ocellaris can be to others of same but could you introduce pairs of different colors ocellaris in a larger 150-180g aquarium and be okay? Like maybe 3-4 pairs of different variants? There are some cool colorations out there like you showed. It would be too bad to be restricted to only one pair of your basic Nemo looking clownfish. Thanks dude. Keep bringing it.
I’m starting a 50 gallon saltwater tank. I’m planning on getting a pair of clownfish. But I want to add more fish and coral. Any suggestions for a beginner? It can be anything from fish, to crabs, to a anemone. Thanks. also a couple more questions. What’s the best canister filter? Should I get a refractometer or hydrometer?
To funny I just buy two today. The funny part my boss aka wife said are you going buy some colorful coral? I said ya but I need spend more money on a sump and better light. So said yes but only some stuff at time.
I have a pair of clowns for about 4 years now and around last year they started having babies, around every 12 days. Its great to watch how they clear out an area on a rock or side wall and protect the eggs while the male fans them. Sadly I cannot catch the Larvae once the eggs hatch and feed them the Rotifers in a separate tank, so they all end up to die. I don't have the space or the time for this. Any ideas on how to get them to stop? Thanks
So I have a biorb tank that I want to convert. If I just stick with the clown fish, I just need to get the heater and a different nitrate ? The filter stays the same or do I need a complete different filter ? Thanks in advance.
When will you check out subscriber setups?? Awesome video by the way getting clownfish very soon (tank has been cycling for what seems like eternity!) finally ready.....
You said no wheels but I was hoping to do a school like four, but have ,one da Vinci, one tradition and two black, was reading that I may have to add at same time , but apparently they can become aggressive?!! I may just have to get another tank lol. Also do a reef tank for beginners!
You have saltwater tank in you fish room? When did that happen? I dont remember you doing saltwater tank setup. I dont think I missed any of your videos.
I have one frostbite clown that my friends are babysitting until I get my tank geared up. We are going to get another frostbite for a companion but I am wondering what other fish and invertebrates would go well with them. I have a 29 gallon tank and I don’t want to overcrowd so I was thinking maybe one smaller companion fish so it isn’t aggressive toward the clowns and two bottom feeders. Any suggestions?
I’m starting a 55 gallon marine tank with live sand and dry rock. I am using tap water with tap conditioner. Is this good enough for a pair of clownfish? please be practical and not super extra. Thanks
On 2-23-19 I just got two clownfish for my first fish after weeks of letting the water Establish and I see the one picking on the other and they both came from the same tank at the pet store.
Great videos! But I have one concern I have 2 tanks a 75 with one pair and a 40 with a trio .. I can’t stick my hands in there for maintenance without the males biting me non stop ! I’m ready to get rid of them is there anything that can be done to stop the biting !
Yo please reply (I usually don’t say my age) but I’m a child I’m researching how to start a tank, is there a way to expand with other fish? Are there fishes clownfish do well with? Also I’m specifically looking for the “dory” breed will that work well with the fish?? Or does it vary with each fish
I’m a freshwater kid I’m doing really good but my mom loves salt water and specifically I got questions how do you do water changes is there any difference
Looking for opinions on what’s going on with my clown pair. I bought and introduced a da Vinci and a black ocellaris to my tank at the same and they paired up right away. I’ve had them for about a month now and suddenly the female has gotten aggressive towards the male. Is this normal? And should I do anything?
my houses temperature can get up around 84 degrees during the day, will the fish be okay? its a slow rise to it but i just get worried as im doing research to get clowns.
Hey brother I recently bought two clown fish the tank is very small but I have no idea how to change water and within how many days change water and how to clear there poop and m just a beginner please guide me.
really want a clownfish aquarium, I never had fish but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could help me pick tank size and give some pointers.
I role 2 clowns, a small yellow tang, a small red stripe dwarf angel, a mandarin(added few months after up and running) and a diamond goby. Plenty of clean up crew as well (: Perfect balance for my 65.
I personally prefer small fish with bright colors. You could also go with a clownfish pair, a yellow or small tang (definitely not blue/Dory), some gobies (yellow Watchman or firefish), a chromos or azure damselfish and inverts
I have Clownfish. I was scared just like other beginners to saltwater tanks. I find my saltwater tank so much easier to take care of than my freshwater tank.
Eric Lind I find that the water parameters do not fluctuate as easily in saltwater. That could be do to the difference in dishes bioload. I also find that it’s easier to fix poor water parameters.
@@joeyjonesaquatics507 Thanks. I'm on the fence about starting a salt water tank and I'm trying to learn what I can and hear other's experience. It sounds like your salt water is not heavily stocked which is always easier to manage in any tank. But I would think that a fresh water tank would easier to fix since you can just do a big water change. Not sure if that is doable with salt water tanks. Also with evaporation in a salt water tank, the salinity goes up so don't you have to constantly top it off? What would happen if you were away for say 2 weeks? Would it survive? Don't have this issue with fresh water.
Eric Lind It really depends on the issue and how bad the issue is. I had high phosphates and my coral was dying. Did a water change and by the next day it was opening up again. If you would like more info and opinions join the live streams every other Saturday morning at 8am PST. There will be lots of people who can share their experiences. I think you should definitely start a saltwater tank if you are ready to. It’s very beautiful, fun, and you expand your experience in the hobby. Keep me updated on your decision. 🤘👍
So I set up my 1st tank about a month ago, picked out a pair of OC clowns. And yet despite "doing everything right" and all my parameters checking out good,1 died within 4 days and then the other died a couple days after that. Now my tank is empty 😥
I bought a clown fish acclimate him and placed him in my tank. He wasn’t active with the lights on but once they went off he was very active .. so I went to bed I woke up in the morning and there was no trace of him he was completely gone ... I started to look for him and realize I never found Nemo. Any ideas what happen to him?
Yes but make sure they dont bully the goby, gobies need a top on the tank as they are known to jump out of the tank...Also do ur water changes... and good filtration and you'll be fine
if you want to put a lot of clown fish in one tank look up harem clownfish aquarium BulkReefSupplyCom youtube channel make a series on how thy did it. they put 30 clown in a 120g
just set up my first saltwater aquarium and its not that much more then freshwater. in fact i used almost all the same equipment filter ,heater, powerhead, ect. the only thing u relay need different is salt and if you stock low (means less water changes) and get around a 30 gallon aquarium a 50 gallon bag of salt (around 12$ - 20$) can last a coup of mouths. ps i use tap water with dechlorinator. no ro water needed
Wait wait, wait, i just searched "clown fish" for fun and now ive just discovered that it's a real type of fish(idk what i was thinking but, i was hoping to see a fish swimming with a clown costume on😅😧).
You should do a video about doing a reef tank for beginners there isnt any good videos out there
This is a video I needed! I recently got into saltwater tanks and I also got 2 clown fish!
They are awesome fish and a great addition to a reef tank! My reef is coming along nicely if you ask me!
Thomas B hey! How do i submit them?
Keep it away from dentists
I have been spending all this week researching this exact topic, so glad to have clear answers to all my questions from a team I respect! Thanks for the vid!
You just kill me as I bubble over with laughter
Thomas, you are knowledgeable amongst your peers. I learn a lot from you. thank you.
Hysterical and informative. This dude is awesome
I feed mine once a day and they come to the surface and I can almost hand feed them! The bigger clown “bites” my hand when I’m cleaning the tank. Lol!
I used your how to set up the saltwater tank video series to start mine. Great series! I have a 35 gallon with a pair of clowns, some snails and a neon purple fish of some sort.
Thomas B No, I have not. I didn’t know you had a react series. But, I can make a short video for you to see. Where would I post it at?
Mindy Sanders how are those clowns doing 9 months later?
Thanks for the information on the beautiful clown fish.
You have an amazing personality...lol...Great video!
Make a video on how to keep corals and anemones please!

Good info. I only have fresh water thinking salt water was a hassle. I will look further into it.
If I get a 30 gallon tank with 2 clown fish what other fish would go well with them thanks

Do regular clownfish get along with the black ones?
Hi, I loved your video! My only question was how do I cycle my clown fish tank
To funny I just buy two today. The funny part my boss aka wife said are you going buy some colorful coral? I said ya but I need spend more money on a sump and better light. So said yes but only some stuff at time.
Can you keep some in a 10 gallon loads of people online say it’s fine
Finally a new video! ^^

What are their best tank mates?
I've been wanting to get my first aquarium but I'm concerned that jumping straight to a saltwater tank would be a bad move..
Not really that hard same as freshwater except fo the salt.
When will you check out subscriber setups?? Awesome video by the way getting clownfish very soon (tank has been cycling for what seems like eternity!) finally ready.....
Perfect video ! Like !! Congrats
🧐🤔You remind me of doctor Loveless.....🤨😜👍cheers..!
If you are keeping the tank simple with just clown fish and live rock do you need a protein skimmer?
I love the original clownfish
How do you measure salinity. And what if you already have premade salt water
Hayden Wegner a hydrometer or refractometer will work for more accurate results but premade should already be in 1.020-1.026 range
is it ok to keep a solitary clownfish in a smaller tank (say a 28L) like you would with a betta fish, or do they need company?
only for a short time remember they grow, they can get pretty big to, around 4" i would put one in no less then 15 gallon preferably more
@@jasrivas Thanks Jason. :)

Would I be able to keep a pair of Wyoming whites, a pair of occellaris and a pair of darwin clowns

I’m the first viewer. I feel so special. But great video.

U could add a bit more than two clownfish tap water is decent but using Reverse Osmosis Deionized Water should be better
Do I need to use rodi to keep the clown fish?
no not really
How often should i change water
How many water changes I have to do?
thank you for the advice and great video
what is your fav type of the fish
my local pet store told me that a 5.5 gallon tank would be ok for 1 clown fish.. would this be okay?
Can i put API salt in the tank, if yes then how much? My tank is 190 U. S gallons
Can i convert clownfish in freshwater?
Thanks for sharing mate!

The guy at my fish store said that I could keep two clownfish in a 10 galloon. Is that okay?
I say that’s okay but some say otherwise. I wouldn’t keep them in a 10 if they’re full grown though. You’ll be good with a 20 gallon. 👍
Best soft corals for them?
Ooh they would most likely host in Toadstool leather but they can do xenia, not sure about finger or Kenya tree tho
Do they have to be in 2 or can you just have 1?Also can you tell me some fish that would be good tank mates?thankyou🥳🙂
I have been dealing with lots of algae it is like a purple-ish color do you have any tips to get it to go away?

which fish can I put with my clownfish
Just got one died in 6 hrs. I dripped acclimated them and my water parameters were fine and tank has been running for 1 month or so.
Is it unusual to see freshwater angelfish laying on the bottom of the tank right after the light comes on in the morning?

Henry Pacheco ok thank you
How do you get Captive-Raised Clowns to host an Anemone?
How often i need to chec for the salt and ph?
Depending on the size of the tank it should be 1 once a week for smaller tanks but it's better to be checked weekly anyways
How many can i put in a 75 gallon
He said in the video that they dont get along in groups bigger than 2.

In Vietnam, they are expensive, much more expensive than freshwater, anh not all fish store have them, only the big one.
The hobby in general is expensive sadly. 😭😭😭😂😂😂

R.I.P Marlin's speices... abunch of kids wanted a "Nemo" parents got it to their children tho it's costly and ugh.... they killed marlin... and coral
“Don’t sure me” 😂
How do I get it to tell jokes 😂😂
How to transfer mollies and guppies to saltwater?
This man sounds like Steve Carell and Jeff Goldblum had a vocal baby.
Honest to goodness I liked clownfish before Finding Nemo came out. I just always thought they were cool.
How many water changes I have to do?
