Back in the day, I probably opened 4 0r 5 boxes and had the same results. Lot of duplicates each box. But if you found the Griffey, you might get 3 of them in one box.
WOW!!! 1989...I bought my first pack of cards at the "Country Store" in Damascus, MD. and pulled an Eddie Murray. I was and still am an Orioles fan, and that started my collection. Thanks for the memories Jabs! Preciate the video sir! 🙏
My local baseball card store had a box of high number 1989 Upper Decks. There were 4 ken Griffey Jr rookie cards pulled from the box ! I was lucky to pull the fourth one. Was graded an 8 by PSA . I personally think you can find more in the high numbers
I still have my billy Ripken error, and the one with the black box covering the words.

I met Kent T at a Pirates fest. Didn't know who he was, he came up to me and introduced himself, I was holding a baseball and he asked me if I would like him to sign it. Well Yeah.
Now my favorite signed ball. Also has Vern Law, Nellie King, Elroy Face and a few others.

I think Topps was way ahead of their time with their 1983 Michigan Test packs. The foil packs were great, but Topps did it First I think. Great video!!!

Those were my dream cards as a kid. All very affordable now.
I've pulled 7 Griffey's out of fresh boxes, and they were always in the same stack in the box. Who's to say someone else knows this and just replaced the whole stack.
Might be better just buying a Griffey.

@@undertheblue2006 I only ever bought two packs of Upper Deck when I was a kid because of how expensive they were. And out of the two packs, I landed a Ken Griffey Jr. card. The kids at my school all were trying to trade all kinds of cards for it. Even the older kids were trying to get me to part ways with my Griffey Jr. At the time, that was my prized card. My older cousin tried to pay me $20 for it. Still, I wouldn't budge. It wasn't until some years later when I got into my teens when I stop liking Baseball and started watching Football and Basketball. And started collecting football and basketball cards. Sure enough, my older cousin finally got me to part with my Griffey Jr. I traded it for a 1989Topps Football Traded Complete Set. And on top of that, he dumped a bunch of Bo Jackson cards on me. I am a huge Bo Jackson fan. AND...he threw in an extra $10 plus, a Bo Jackson Topps Football Rookie Card. I thought, hell...that is enough for me to hand over my Griffey Jr. My older cousin still has his Griffey Jr. I traded him. I really hated the trade I made back then. It was the dumbest move ever.
Most definitely for a 1-8 lol but the gamble is trying to find a psa 9 or 10.

Dug up my old cards I had as a kid recently, had forgot some of those.. Have a 71 Nolan Ryan, I'm not expert haven't graded before but this might be a 7 plus
These boxes are not worth the $$$, the Griffey card doesn’t justify the cost. You can send in 200 of his rookies and won’t pull a 10!
The first series one box that I opened had 12 Ken Griffey jr. cards in it. I sold them for $10 each. Such a newb.

Thanks for this video, brings back a lot of good memories of going to the card shop with my dad and brother and buying packs of 89UD and opening them in the shop. I prob had about 25 Griffey cards back in 1989-1990. I got out of colleting in about 1993-1994 and I believe over the past 20+ years my brother sold 95% of my cards. Back in the junk wax era, you used to always know when a good card was coming up because most of the time the cards in front are always the same. If I am remembering correctly. the Griffey card was in the first 5-6 cards. Anyways, thanks for the video and I hope you continue to grow our channel!!

Its hard to understand why people spend so much money on these packs/boxes when you can get a sealed complete set with all the best rookies for 200 bucks
some boxes got 5 ken griffey jrs in them.

I remember $2 in ‘89 for these. Way out of my league
I do as well, though some stores were $1.50. One particular store near me sold for the MSRP of $1. The old lady there kind of knew about the hype, but said “we don’t overcharge”.
I remember them $10 in the mid-late 90s when the Griffey was in the Beckett for ~$150. I bought ONE and pulled the Griffey and never bought another because I knew that would never happen twice, lol.

Upper Deck was all the rage back in the day. I remember buying several boxes back then. Opened up several boxes not a single Griffey. Still have one sealed box.

Also, the high number boxes actually I’ve had luck with Griffeys. Sucks one didn’t bounce out of these though.
i hit a ken griffey jr out of high numbers w one pack. Packs costed around $2.50 in 1990.
“Hardly any star rookies”, Jabs, after open 18 straight packs WITH one… well, I lied. 17/18 packs, the one missing should have had Griffey. Look at the Star Rookies, Compare to set checklist. First Stack (20, 21, 25/22, 23, 24, 25, 26 , 27, ___(Not #1?)) Second Stack (10, 7/11, 12, 13 ….) You get the pattern! After watching several videos like this, I just bought the single. Sad, because I really wanted to rip one.

This is just a observation. I know nothing whether or not there were any shenanigans with this box, but in 1989 at Frank and Sons card show which is no more than 10 miles north of where the Upper Deck factory was in Yorba Linda, CA….. MULTIPLE dealers had 800 count boxes of the Griffey rookie ONLY. Wonder why many boxes did NOT contain any??????

Its because they printed them to order.
They started that crap after these boxes were packed and sold, but lots of shady business with upper deck back then. I used to sell at Frank and Sons at that time and everyone knew the head guys at UD were collectors and would just keep the printers running. You could order any card you wanted in any quantity, of course everyone got the Griffey.
The “big guy” is in DC playing president and taking kickbacks that’s where you’ll find him😂

540 cards in the box. 700 in the set. Any particular one certainly not guaranteed, even if no doubles.
You could just pick up a autograph griffey from the same set at the nationals for $300 they had loads lmfao.

Baseball card exchange means nothing. I bought a 1989 donruss BBCE box. Zero key rookies and one of the packs didn't even have a puzzle piece in it. Sketchy company, not worth the premium

Most kids do weird things that they laugh about as an adult. If you had a childhood where you acted like a mature adult and did nothing out of the ordinary then you had issues.
