    Chris, no, you do not have to remove the pre-load from the spring when simply un-bolting the shock. This is intended for removal of both the shock and spring to make ready for shipping the shock in for a lowering service or re-valve, as noted in the description. Thanks for watching!

    Are you sure you need to take the preload off the rear spring? After removing my shock and reading the book directions, I don't see why you do. The swing arm can extend past the full stroke of the preloaded shock so it seems like its not needed.
