The mini is indeed a great design, essentially fitting in every room. While at a first glance it looks ridiculously small, it's amazing how much fun you can have on it. Not to mention the effective finger training it delivers.

Completely agree. As a training tool, it works perfect. Realistically doesn’t take up more space than a double bed…..#noexcuses

A few things… I do like the fact that the wood holds allow me get a full workout in, they do often require much more try hard and delicate movement as you suggest. I like the strong community on Instagram, it seems problems are being set now at a faster pace than ever, which means the audience is becoming larger. I am also a newer father in the past couple years which limits my ability to get outside. I feel that the board allows my to climb hard outside on limited occasions. I am able to do in a day what were projects before…and project harder than before when I can make it out.

Great video. How feasible do you think it would be to attach some screw-on jugs in between the Mini holds? The idea would be to make a board that you could train endurance on as well as limit bouldering.

Could definitely add screw on holds. The plywood is think and easily accepts screws! Only thing I have found on my 2016 set where I have added holds is that I try to keep holds low profile, just so I don’t hit them with with my elbow or knee when making moves at my limit.

I had the 2016 set and when I moved I built the mini. I love them both so much. For training, I think they're equally good. But, I think the mini is actually harder than 2016 set.

The mini can definitely be tricky!!!

I'd love to purchase a training board, I'm 45 years and after 2 years of training my lead climbing grade level is currently 6b (5.10d) indoor (and around 6a/5.10b outdoor, where I spend less time). I do some indoor bouldering too (I can onsight up to 6a and work up to 6b, maybe 6b+), My ceiling is 270 cm (8' 10"). A standard Moonboard won't fit, while a Mini Moonboard at 40° seems too short (and maybe too hard for me? I could use it at 25°, it should fit). If only they had an in-between measure... What do you suggest?

Hi @StefanoGandolfo. The mini packs plenty of oomph into its size. I wouldn't worry about it not packing enough punch. So if the size works, I would go with it. I would personally stick with the mini at 40degrees. While the grading will definitely feel stiff to start, you would be amazed at how fast your body will adapt, even after the age of 40 :)

Would you say climbing v10 on a mini moonbaord is harder than a indoor gym v10? Sorry arbitrary.

I haven’t climbed V10 in either format, so hard for me to say.
Generally some gyms are soft, some are stacked. I would say the MB ratings trend on the stacked side
