A lifetime project. Such a special send. Feel privileged to climb in the path of the legends for my first V8 outdoors. Mega thanks to Lukasz and Ewa, Ross, Alex, and Jeremy for all the stoke. Huge thanks to Jonny Kydd (@jonnykydd4707) and @LatticeTraining for helping me achieve my bouldering goal for the last 3 years. All of the reps paid off. A fun line just to the right of Cocaine Corner. A bit wonky to pad. Mantle top out is hard to brush and there is still a touch of climbing once done with the mantle. Worth doing. #yosemite #yosemitebouldering #bouldering

Thanks! I will be stoked if I make it to V10…..
WELL DONE!! Expect to see this beta vid on my channel soon👀
Awesome!!! Go get some!!! Hope to see you around the Valley soon.
@@explorersurgeon likewise! Been following your journey since i moved from the central valley, you’ve been killing it
3 years of grinding, it feels good for sure!! Congrats bro! Really nice send!
Thank you. It is a process for sure. 5 years ago I didn’t boulder at all, 3 years ago I had a devastating injury where I ripped my pec off and had to have it reattached. Due to a great training program from Lattice, an excellent coach, a great support team and a lot of hard work, I was able to realize my goal. It doesn’t always work out, but when it does the success is sweet.
@explorersurgeon take care my friend
best soundtrack
yes....always interesting what is going on down on the ground mid-send :)
Sick!
Thanks!!
Nice send! Random question for you, I’m currently a 3rd year medical student and long time climber. I’m aspiring to enter a surgical field and I’ve had a few people make comments about how climbing isn’t a good hobby for surgeons. Have you ever felt like training or hard projects have the potential to interfere with your surgical dexterity? Any advice on this topic? Thanks so much!
@zacharydawson6278 - thanks! I think being a climber and being a surgeon is complementary. Anyone who is steering you otherwise is either a) ignorant of what makes a good surgeon or b) ignorant about climbing. Physically, sure, there are days I am tired after a long 30hr push in the hospital or a big weekend bouldering or on the wall. And I am sure that I could be a better climber if I didn't work so much. But the benefits of being able to do what I love professionally and personally very much outweigh any downside. The mental skill set of analytically approaching challenges, challenges with real risk involved, are highly synergistic. The mental preparation needed before a big case or a big climb are similar. Finding the calm in chaos during a hectic trauma resuscitation or strung out high above the ground or gear are similar. The humility provided by the fallibility of the human body and that provided by the mountains is similar. As with any sport or activity, there is always the risk of injury. But that is no different in climbing than in mountain biking, road biking, running, or hell, even biking to work. So if you love to climb, and you want to be a surgeon, leave the naysayers at the curb and go for it!!! Follow you passion, your future self will be thankful for it.
@@explorersurgeon Thanks for your resonse!
Ya Joe!!!! Congrats!
Thanks for the support!!!
Oh my god I love this. Smashing a sandbagged V8 while ur wife is doing a protocol in the same garage with you. Genuinly goals 😭
Haha thanks, yeah it was a pretty fun session! Appreciate the shoutout!!!
Ever plan on getting the 2025 set? Also I have enjoyed watching these
Thank you @SamJulius-sy8nw !! Glad you have enjoyed. I have definitely thought about the 2025 set. Would love to give them a go at some point, but for now I am getting lots of mileage on the 2020 set. So still pretty stoked on chipping away at the BMs on the older set.
Nicely done 💪💪💪
Thanks!!! It’s a fun one.
Super strong 💪
Thanks!!!! Hope y’all are getting up to the Valley this weekend:)
Wow holy crap! The 9s are so damn hard. Nice send.
Thanks! It was just one of those days when everything clicked!
Congrats, so sick!!
Thank you!!! I was quite stoked
Liking the woodpecker.
yeah, came through strong in the vid!
Sick!!
Thanks!!! It’s a fun boulder
Thanks for sharing all these videos! They are very helpful in figuring out betas.
Glad you like them!
It didn’t seem too bad. I do find I have to tighten the holds more frequently on the mini, but otherwise isn’t too much of an issue. Why do you ask?
I moved mine 10cm over because it felt really close to the edge of the plywood and I didn’t want the nuts to tear out
Quick question is row F sketchy at all when putting right on it?
Not really, it didn’t seem too bad
ya!!!!
Thanks!!!!
Listening to some Adrian Tchaikovsky, Alien Clay, in the background....
Did this problem while i was there last week. Pretty solid fun one!
Awesome! Congrats. I had to clean it off a bit when I was there. Agree, surprisingly fun.
You’re a beast dude. Thanks for posting! Which one was the hardest for you?
Thanks for the comment @anthonyb3940 and good question. I seem to remember Dr. Pinch felt hard at the time. That e14 pinch can be tricky!!! What about you?
No cut 👏
Thanks! I have found that the more I try to force myself not to cut, the harder it is, but the better my technique gets in the long run
Yeah, definitely an engaging one!!!
Best v5
Yeah, it’s hard for the grade for sure. A great benchmark
Where did you get the bolts for the holds? Thanks
I purchased the bolts part of the package sold by Moon Climbing. But you can also pick up the 3/8th inch bolts at most hardware stores
💪thats a great send
Thanks, appreciate it!
This thing is nails
Yeah, it was pretty hard for V5. I try to climb these without cutting loose as much as possible, but couldn’t really do it on this one
love your mini moonboard content!
Thank you, glad you enjoy it! Appreciate any feedback on videos you want to see or content you want more of
Gonna be trying this soon! Thanks for posting beta!
Hopefully it’s helpful! And gets ya stoked!!!
SUPERRR 🤲👍🙏💪💯🦾♥️
Thanks!!
Did that one today, its a fun one. Although I tried a lattice training program and promptly ruptured every pulley in my right hand, so they left a bad taste in my mouth.
Nice send!
Love your videos!
Thank you! Glad you enjoy!
The "great job" at the end is priceless!
Yeah, it sure beats a scream mid-crux....
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed
I worked this problem with you one day last year. Awesome to see you put it down, congrats!
Thanks! Yeah, it really flowed this time. Felt great. Standing up off the lower right foothold, rather than brining it high and rocking over, felt much easier
Great video. How feasible do you think it would be to attach some screw-on jugs in between the Mini holds? The idea would be to make a board that you could train endurance on as well as limit bouldering.
Could definitely add screw on holds. The plywood is think and easily accepts screws! Only thing I have found on my 2016 set where I have added holds is that I try to keep holds low profile, just so I don’t hit them with with my elbow or knee when making moves at my limit.
You make it look so easy😝🤟
Thanks!!!
Nice! I was wondering when you would get on this thing lol
Thanks Caleb!! Yeah, been wanting to get on it for awhile. Hope you’re getting some reps up in the Valley!!
WOW! That top out looks scary
Yeah, it’s tall. The down climb is quite invigorating too!!
Awesome!!
Thanks!!!
So smooth! Strong 💪
Thanks for the stoke and inspiration!!!!
how much did the board cost
Here is the full set-up @moonclimbing moonclimbing.com/mini-moonboard-diy-kit.html. I ended up getting the kit because it was a bit less of a hassle given other constraints in my life at the time, but you could make one much more economically just buying and painting some 4*8s and not using the lights. The actual lumbar for the supports, screws, etc was under 300$.
@@explorersurgeon thanks

Thanks! With little kids and working full time, having the home setup has been the only way to keep the training going!!!
