Massive congrats.... well done - to someone who only got into riding 5 years ago, lost 20kgs and never believed it was possible to do epic things people like you are an inspiration. Keep it up!
From a crusty old Mountain-Biking Scotsman, who just turned 61 years old. all I can say is ..... WELL BLOODY DONE LASS!!! I loved going on that journey with you.
Thanks for videoing this while you were in the middle of suffering. Seeing the guys in front of you really showed the steepness of that road. That is hard to catch on camera where the viewer can appreciate what you are going through. Very aptly named "the wall!" Great job riding. You are amazing!
Love watching you pass others on the climbs. Especially when you pass one of the men lol. I die doing a 5 minute climb with a 5% grade lol. Way to go young lady! Don't let that effort go to waste, build on it going forward this season.
Was waiting for this video with great anticipation, KATIE I knew you could do it!!!. As you said NEVER SAY "NEVER AGAIN" "TE QUIERO KATIE KOOKABURRA" I LOVE YOU !!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU !!!. From TX USA woop woop !!
Katie ! You are a beast ! I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. That looks like a brutal one race / ride . Huge congratulations for completing it and doing well in it . 🙏👌😊☮️❤️
You are an inspiration. I dont mean your cycling ability but literally your ability to inspire others. When I came across your videos 3 years ago I was recovering from complex P.T.S.D. and was contemplating bikepacking camping solo from Wirral to Torrevieja, 2500km, 17000m ascent in total. Never cycled more than 10 miles before. I did it last year (and survived). I was 68. Your words " it's just a bike" and something along the lines of " you can get off and walk" was a lightbulb moment for me. Your words and your allround 'niceness' (if thats a word 😂) got me through some tough times. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou
Full respect ... that was awesome and you were even smiling at the end. Completing that ride must be so satisfying. I'm thinking you probably had a double helping of beans-n-toast for breakfast! Well done Ducky!
Great job Katie! Knew you could do it! Could see the pain on those brutal sections, but you pushed through it. Could also feel that sense of accomplishment when you hit that third massive peak. It is such an awesome feeling when you know you have done it. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, you are an inspiration!
Congratulations to you on your epic accomplishment! 5:08 🎯 that is a great mindset to have. I’ve done a few off road events that were 50 miles plus, with 8 to 10K of climbing. The first two I was pretty miserable the last 20 miles so I changed my strategy for the 3rd. I told myself I was going to ride at a brisk but comfortable pace for the first half then turn up the heat on the 2nd half. Ended up with one of my best finishes ever and didn’t have that “never again” voice running through my head at the end.
Great Vid Katie. Love Gran Canaria - cycling paradise - and although I now live on the otherside of the world - your video took me right back to the fond memories of that island... Although I did shudder a little at the sight of VOTT... done it 3 times... and like you .. each time i swore 'never again' ... but in a strange magnetic way - it just pulls me back for more punishment time and time again...
Well done Katie on a superb ride but also a great quality video. Being honest, it’s the first time that I have watched one of your videos for a little while and I thought that the quality of the footage and the video editing was top notch.
Katie - many thanks for some glimpses of Puerto de Mogán, had some lovely holidays there when the kids were young…….even persuaded my wife to watch a cycling related video!!
I actually hate the feeling of struggling on climbs as it kind of reminds me that I'm not good enough and all of my dreams and aspirations were just that, fantasies born out of thin air. Instead the kind of cruising experience you sometimes get to taste while climbing repays you of all the suffering of training and validate the ardour of hoping that in fact you are enough and belongs there. You Katie, we know you belong there!! Our little Kookaburra, we just love your freedom. 😄🙂 😃😁😊 :=]
Awesome ride Katie, well done!! (Never doubted it). PS 8:08, I can’t be the only one that thought “go on lass, ‘ave ‘im” when we saw the other rider zig-zagging 😂
Never again, see you in 24🤣Those climbs were brutal, I love climbing also but only for the descent afterwards😉Your strength, both physical and character got you up there so well done👍
Think this is up there with one of your best videos. Not just because of the event but also because the filming and editing. Well done! See you on Dovies
Brilliant, well done Katie I’m so chuffed for you. You just keep on inspiring not only me but probably a whole lot of cyclists out there. Can I please ask what your speed was in mph going up the steepest parts and gradients in %. When I go up really steep climbs my Garmin Edge 540 plus cuts out for some reason. Anyway well done again.👍🏻🚴🏻♀️
We are truly gluttons for punishment. I saw your previous video and now this one. Great job. If you are ever in the USA, check out the Alta Alpina 8 pass challenge. I did that a few years ago. Beautiful and a serious challenge. 20'000 of elevation climbing and 198 miles. It's another one of a kind. Maybe someday I will get to do that ride. Cheers.
Valley of the Tears is not for the faint hearted. I guess that´s why it´s called Valley of the Tears. When you hear the Garmin going to auto pause you know it´s slow going. Can I recommend Granfondo Stelvio Santin in Bormio as the next thing. It is EPIC riding.
Massive congrats.... well done - to someone who only got into riding 5 years ago, lost 20kgs and never believed it was possible to do epic things people like you are an inspiration. Keep it up!

Awwwww THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! xxx
Congratulations Katie! Nice to meet you again and thanks for showing our amazing island in such a perfect way! Hope you come back soon!
Thanks so much for sharing your awesome island! Staying here longer so you havent got rid of me just yet :)
Katie ! You are a beast ! I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
That looks like a brutal one race / ride .
Huge congratulations for completing it and doing well in it . 🙏👌😊☮️❤️
Loved watching the person in front of you "walking" the bike up the Wall.

THANK YOOOOOU!! Xx
Congratulations, KK! In constant awe of your achievements. Always forward. Ever upward. Well done!
Massive challenge, huge respect Katie. Some of those gradients were brutal!
Full respect ... that was awesome and you were even smiling at the end. Completing that ride must be so satisfying. I'm thinking you probably had a double helping of beans-n-toast for breakfast! Well done Ducky!
Great stuff Katie, thank you. So very human! Looking forward to getting out there too.
What an amazing achievement that was, well done. To get the video and being able to speak while on those climbs is an achievement in itself.
I think the lack of chatting like usual shows how tough it was haha!!
Katie has turned herself into an impossible-climb-shredder, she was as fresh as a rose at the end of La_titanica...
Toooo kind!! 🤍
You are amazing, Katie - totally insane, obviously, but amazing! #Queen 👏⚘️🙏
Hats off to you Katie, bloody mountain goat would struggle on those hills. Great video as always 🎉🎉
Thank you!! 😊

That is such a lovely message thank you!! X

Flying up there like an eagle !
Keep being amazin ☀️

Well done Katie, you did look more comfortable this time compared to previous. 🙌❤
It was SO much better than last time!! There were almost tears - living up to its name - last year 😂
Brilliant, well done Katie I’m so chuffed for you. You just keep on inspiring not only me but probably a whole lot of cyclists out there. Smashed it 🙌 well done Katie
Que sofrimento ! Mas no fim, a satisfação por ter vencido o desafio é incrível. Subida é uma das "drogas" do ciclismo !
You are exceptional - very well done Katie
Hey good ride, on Strava you did take it easy ~8 mph on 5% gradients and no more than 200W.
Awesome effort! Good thing you love climbing!
Wow amazing well done 😊 that looked well hard
It wasn’t an easy ride haha! X
We are truly gluttons for punishment. I saw your previous video and now this one. Great job. If you are ever in the USA, check out the Alta Alpina 8 pass challenge. I did that a few years ago. looking at your Strava was bad enough..but holy moly massive well done Katie :)
Wow super Katieeeee!!!🎉
Awesome ride … love the "Dovestones" measuring ;)
Hahaha I didn’t think many would hear that or get the reference… but you get 10 points for that! 🙌🏼👏🏼
Valley of the Tears is not for the faint hearted. I guess that´s why it´s called Valley of the Tears. When you hear the Garmin going to auto pause you know it´s slow going.
