Brad, I was born in 1949, and you are bringing back some of the best memories of my life. It was a much different time back in my younger years, about a total opposite of the times we are living in now. Hearing these old episodes is so refreshing. The more people that hear these old stories, especially young people that never heard Paul Harvey, the better the chances are that we might return to sanity! Thanks again, and bless you brother!
P.S. I'm planning on restoring my old '54 Chevy 3100 soon. I learned to drive when I was 5 or 6 in that pickup.
    Best wishes,
    Richard A.

I'm very glad that these broadcasts are bringing back such fond memories. It makes my day a little brighter just knowing that it made someone else's day a little brighter too. That's great about the '54 Chevy. I certainly consider myself a car nut. I've had numerous ones from the 50s and 60s and have a 65 Ford Galaxie 500 LTD at the time, which I love. It's wonderful that you have the pickup you learned to drive in. Did I read that right? You learned to drive when you were 5 or 6? WOW!!! God bless you, Richard. :)

@@BradDison Hi Brad, yes you read it correctly. I learned to drive on our farm where I spent most of my life. Retired now. It was very remote, and I would drive that '54 pickup out to my dad on his IH super WD9 tractor with 5 gallon fuel cans for him. I wasn't on roads at first, but by the time I was 9 I was driving truck during wheat and barley harvest. In those days it was common to see a truck or pickup driven down the roads with "no driver" visible. We were in there, just peeking through the steering wheel waving like crazy with a big smile on our faces! 😀
      Blessings back at ya!

I saw a green Tucker on display in Dallas one time. My favorite car I had growing up was a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. I know it's a square box but I love that car

Brad, your channel does Paul Harvey right. I love your commentaries added to the videos, they dovetail into each one perfectly and enriches the Paul Harvey content. I had no idea that a Tucker is on display at the Coppola winery in Geyserville, that is only an hour or so from where I live. Needless to say, it's now on my list of day trips to do. Here is something. As far as I never heard about the car called the Tucker. I confess as I listened I was wondering if it could have been an Edsel. But I didn't think so.
I also wondered about it being a Studebaker though they were out for several years.
If I was going to buy an old car I think my preference would be the Nash Metropolitan. I remember growing up in Elkins, WV I remember people driving around in their Nash Metropolitans. Especially when we would go to town on Saturday afternoons! If I was going to buy and restore an old car that would be it!
But I don't recall the Tucker! I found that fascinating!

    • @BradDison

@@BradDison Thank you. I hope you won't mind me telling you this. As I said I used to see Nash Metropolitan cars a lot as a child. I still saw them occasionally up until I got into my teen years and finally they vanished.
I forgot them named of them but I had a hard time describing them.
I got saved on Dec.7, 1978. I remember my new found faith. I decided to actually pray that that the Lord would lead me to one. I am not joking.
About a month after being born again I prayed. I drove around my Elkins, WV and for odd reason I decided to drive down a certain street and guess what happened? I looked and there it was! A Nash Metropolitan of all things!
I am still amazed nearly 44 years later.

For whatever it’s worth - There was an article in a magazine, a while ago, about a Tucker clone ( sort of) that had been built by a performance car officianado. I don’t recall all the details, but at least I recall that it did not use the modified helicopter engine. Possibly, it’s on the internet somewhere.

The nose of the Tucker had more tricks than a 3rd headlight. I've heard it was designed to as much as possible deflect a head on collision. The established auto companies did a good job of smearing his name. At the time after he was forced into bankruptcy most folk had came to believe the Tucker was a scam, I remember my uncle talking about it. But as the years went on more info came out and for the handful of people that know some details about the car (not me) now know that was all a smear job.
I hear you on not wanting to drive an expensive car. I don't like driving any car I don't own, even for a test drive where I'm serious about buying it.

    • @BradDison
      @BradDison  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Tucker was certainly ahead of its time in many respects. I'd love to see one at a car show. I'm sure it was a smear campaign. :)

  • @stevenf1953

I knew it was a Tucker. No car was ever as good as a Tucker, at that time. The other car manufactures did everything dirty they could to get it off the market. Including taking Tucker to court. Tucker and the world lost. Please read about Tucker's car. You will be amazed! BTW I had a used1963 Chevy Impala, it was my first car. I loved that car.

Now adays it would cost me $75 to $100 to mow my lawn, that's why I do it myself. I bought the car from my Preacher. He never drove it over 45 to 50 miles an hour. It had around 60,000 miles on it. It was perfect. Sorry if I am too proud of it. I loved that car. 😏🙄😎
