As an aerospace engineer, I was impressed with your video in that it is thorough, well organized, to the point, and objective. Will be purchasing one today.
I just received the butt stock pad and recoil buffer from Missouri Tactical. Now I need to go try them out. Thank you for the video. It made my choice much easier.
Found your channel as I was doing my research on the Sub2k. Thank you for the informative videos and it's great that you are in California because it gives us Cali sub2k owners options that we can actually use and not all the fun stuff out east of us. Purchased my Glock 19 CA compliant Sub2k locally here in the Bay Area today. 👍 I'll be using your links to order some goodies as I wait for my rifle to clear.
I used a grommet that has a hole in it that just fits over the recoil spring. This eliminates fussiness. I bought it at ACE Hardware, I will put the part number here after I find where I put the receipt! I also tried o-rings that also fit over the recoil spring/rod. Both work to change the felt recoil for sure. The difference is instead of a sharp smack, you get a smooth thump. It is a bit harder to lock the bolt back. May change to a thinner grommet.
I tried the "O" washer type too. It works but I did notice some wear on the inner hole after a hundred rounds or so. Must be moving along with the buffer and rubbing against the spring is my guess.
Would beg to differ M carbo recoil buffer + weighted charging handle, muzzle break and the rest of the kit all go together to make a smooth experience some say is better than radial delay in a blowback package which has never been seen or experienced before either way pick your poison it’s the freedom of choice that gives us these options and these freedoms we stand for #2A
Agreed. It always puzzles me the cadre of Sub2K Stans who insist everybody add in all the internal ugrades (which cost nearly as much as a stock Sub2K to begin with). If a gun can't run reliably without those upgrades then it's not a gun, it's a kit. So far I've shot over 1000 rounds through my Sub2K and the only time I've had FTFs is when I tried a box of Federal aluminum cased ammo.
One more thing...I assume the bolt locks back, but how much harder is it too lock the bolt back? The grommet I use is not as thick as the Missouri solution, but it does make locking back hard, You have to make an effort to get it to lock. Not drastic, but it will fail to lock if you do not purposefully rotate the charging handle.
@@MoondogReviews The use of the word "hard" may have been wrong. It is a bit more difficult. The CH hangs just a bit on the curve of the recessed CH locking area. I have to give an extra little push to get it to lock. I will shave down my grommet and see if this alleviates that issue.
@@winstonsmiths2449 I see what you're sayn. Yeah, there's a bit more resistance but it's not like I have to fight it. I've tried putting 2 o-ring grommets in one time and that I really had to push hard to get it to lock. That's why I recommended just going with 1 o-ring if you use the grommet method.
It's an NCstar QD 3/4" riser I got on Amazon. It's kinda ugly but it works for the S2K because it quickly detatcheds and raises my UTG pistol/scout scope with low profile scope rings enough to clear the front sight-post. Unfortunately, this riser is no longer available on Amazon. This Higoo(?) riser is similar but lacks the locking feature on the lever amzn.to/3bsIyjJ
Thanks for the review. I'm getting one. Just curious: have you tried using two to increase the absorption of felt-recoil? Or would that not allow the gun to function properly?
Adding more than one does reduce felt recoil further. It should cycle but more than one tends to interfere with locking back the bolt for inspection or clearing malfunction.

@@Moondog2A I recently installed the recoil buffer and a bunch of Mcarbo upgrades and just now noticed that it wasn't locking the bolt back when the gun goes empty. I have one on mine, combined with the mcarbo buffer pad the difference in felt recoil is significant. However, I am curious to test out Missouri tactical's recoil pad in place of Mcarbo's to see if there is any improvement.
Maintain function as far as firing, yes. But you'll have great difficulty locking the bolt open or not be able to at all with 2x buffer rings. Hope you subscribe.

As an engineer you probably could pick up some spare parts at work that would be a good analog?
I hadn’t heard ANYONE talking about Missouri tactical products for my sub 2k. THANK YOU!!!
Your reviews are awesome! Keep up the good work.
I ordered the buffer and installed it. Now I just have to get to the range and try it out.

Thanks for the review. I’m definitely getting one.
Hope you enjoy it! BTW, do you primarily shoot your S2K bench rested or standing?
Fired several rounds with the recoil buffer installed and there’s a noticeable difference in the reduction of the felt recoil.
There's not a huge reduction. It's more of a difference between getting it with a metal hammer and a similarly heavy rubber mallet.
Just got the rifle stock recoil pad. It makes a big difference! Thank you for info!
It certainly does especially when shooting in the summer and you're only wearing a t-shirt at the range.

I bought this one and the mcarbo one, this one is softer rubber material so it works better.
Agreed. So far mine has lasted though it'll depend on how many rounds a person runs. Hope you subscribed.
A whole lot better than the mcarbo stuff

So far mine has held up as my original plastic trigger guard. But it remains to be seen.

Moondog. Have you try the Missouri Tactical Recoil Buffer with the RBG - 4 5/8 silicone rubber disk to see if the felt recoil can be further dampened?
