    You know you're going to have to play for us now so we'll know when you've mastered it, right? It's gorgeous! 🙏🏻💜

      People ask me if I will accompany them and I say with which, my flute or harp and they say both. And when I was in a band my friends always said they wished I could sing and play flute at the same time! so once I get those mastered I will paint and play harp! Ha. Maybe eventually I can record myself on the harp and use it as background music. Or I can accompany myself on recording and add flute and then play it as a back track! Ha! But this is getting complicated.

    Can’t read music. Don’t play an instrument. Will look forward to hearing you play. What a joyous time you will have!

    That's a gorgeous instrument, Sharon - hope you get many happy hours learning it and enjoying playing it. I'm a guitar person myself and my first thought when I saw all those strings was "Oh my gosh, think of the hours to tune it!" My guitar has just the 6 strings of course, nothing like the number on your harp - but nowadays with electronic tuning aids I guess tuning a harp won't be that much more time-consuming than a guitar. Incidentally, I noticed you struggling with the bubble-wrap when unpacking the harp ..... was Diesel not available? LOL Anyway, thanks for an interesting video - have lots of fun with the new music :-)

      Hahahaha. It takes about 5-10 minutes to tune. This one has on;y 26 strings. My next step will be 34 if needed. But I wanted the la- harp so that I can travel with it and it only weighs about 6 lbs. That’s cool you play guitar. I can play guitar on my harp now too! You just touch the strings not in the chord and then strum. Hard to do though. Diesel was with Pat thank goodness. But the box was extra heavy duty cardboard which he doesn’t prefer, and the bubble wrap was too hard even for me to pop. That plastic was very thick.

    So happy for you! I love music. It is an important part of life. Unfortunately, I could never get the hang of an playing an instrument. But my husband plays a mean mouth harp and our daughter has played the sax for 30+ years. Oh, and my Dad played spoons. One handed! LOL! I really look forward to hearing you play your harp or flute. Stay warm! We've got severe, stay inside, cold warnings this weekend in Nebraska.

      Playing an instrument is like painting it takes a great amount of practice and discipline. I suppose some catch on quicker than others, but if you can paint you can play an instrument. And some are more difficult than others. Harp is difficult but not as difficult as I had expected. Granted I am only plying beginner music right now too! Ha!

      One day maybe!😉 Like with any instrument it takes a few years to get proficient. I’ve learned a few pieces and I’m taking courses online from a young woman in Cape Town South Africa.

    I have one in cherry and absolutely love it! You might want to check out TH-cam channels Learning The Harp with Christy-Lyn and Anne Crosby Gaudet. Both are great channels with tutorials and sheet music.

      I contemplated the Cherry but I loved the deeper warmer sound of the walnut. Well I also couldn’t pass up this deal I got on it too because it was a second. I have been watching both of those channels and I have joined Christy-Lyn’s online courses. I am also really enjoying Josh Lane. He goes faster and I think Anne is too slow for me. I have a music background so I don’t need to go too slow. But then Josh can get ahead of me. That’s okay though because I learn so much from him even if I am not at that level yet. He uses the same chunking technique as Christy-Lyn too. That is what I used to do on flute as well on difficult passages.

    I'm so happy for you!!! You're going to love your Harpsicle, they sound great and are really well made. As for the harp technique, I think it will come with time, especially if you stay mindful of what you need to focus on while you play. Enjoy your new baby! :)

      Thank you so much Mia. It is beginning to click now. I’m becoming more aware of things and somethings are beginning to become second nature. I’m going to do a progress video over my first year.

    Ooh! I love harps! (I own 4, but only one is currently playable. The others are all 20-50 years old.) Thanks for unboxing this one here! What's the name of your harp group?

    • @SharonCullenArt
      @SharonCullenArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well as long as the wood is not cracked and the neck and pillar can hold the lbs of pressure required on the strings then you may only need to restring them. Do you play?

    • @valperkins6621
      @valperkins6621 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SharonCullenArt Sadly they are beyond restringing. The two oldest were wire strung and have been restored at least twice each, but are twisted again from the pressure. The older nylon strung had the soundboard basically explode. I used to play a lot, but I need to get back into it. Had trouble with shoulders for a few years in there.

    A beautiful harp! It was so good to see you so happy and excited! I know the letdown feeling when something your waiting for is delayed and yes it’s always the most important something! 😩🥺 But when they arrive 🥳💥 Take care and I hope you don’t get too much snow. Prayers are with you. Looks like we are missing the huge snow fall coming through Tennessee. ~ Fran
