I thought the super Saiyan 2 or 3 comment was just to indicate that Gohan's power felt like was still using normal ki, not god ki. So Goku was thinking Gohan just powered up an existing transformation instead of something new.

Yea I peeped that I'm most concerned with the fact beerus and whis kinda foreshadowed the winner already neither was as shocked as they should be at beast gohan despite this version of beast being obviously above last arc due to training with piccolo and beerus was mainly focused on goku and his UI stating "this current technique is the strongest isn't it?" Then whis replies yes it seems like it
Also Future Trunks trained so his SSJ2 was near Goku's SSJ3 level in the manga so that may factor in as well.
@@specialnewb9821 the case with trunks, I think is meant to represent how utterly untrained Goku's ss3 is. A fully trained/mastered ss3 should be somewhere between untrained ss4 and ssj god probably?
I think it would be fun comic relief if Goten and Trunks befriend Broly while he’s not training to have him tag along on their adventures or whatever they’re up to. Socializing him into society and stuff like that. Also as for training he needs to spend time in yardrat. That is the greatest way for him to master his energy control. With that training he may get a controlled berserk form that could rival or surpass Gohan’s beast form
You know that is actually great idea. Trunks will be troublesome leader and most problematic one, with Goten closely following him and then you have Brolly who is much more innocent compared to them, but at the same time ticking time bomb. 😂

Gotenks thought he could beat buu without ssj and then realized he needed it. He was still in the same ball park as buu just needed training.
They keep messing up the fusion so it’s a bigger deal later. They made fusion really important with the reintroduction of gogeta , gotenks is a super strong fusion as well because it’s Two rival sayians, only better rivals were goku and vegeta end of Z

The chapter's establishing that Ultimate was unnamed in-universe until right now is probably why Goku asked about SSJ2 and 3 instead. Those are the forms he knows Gohan can do that he has names for. If the name Ultimate was known to him he would have asked about that instead. He was probably thinking that Gohan enhanced 1 of these 3 forms with a rage boost the way Future Trunks' rage enhanced SSJ2.
Gohan has never gone SSJ3 in canon.
He's only ever had SSJ, SSJ2, Ultimate, and now Beast.
But Gohan has the potential to do it. That’s why Goku asked if that’s what it is.

I'd like to think it has something to do with the elder Kai unlocking his potential back in the buu saga but he was never finished. He did off screen training and with his anger he managed to tap into this form and bring out the last bit that hadn't been unlocked yet. It kinda makes sense
I believe it’s that The God Forms and their individual techniques are not massive jumps in raw power like Gohan’s.
Gohan’s ultimate form was just below blue but with far better stamina. Every time Gohan gets a new form it’s always been a more potent power jump than anyone elses’s other than Frieza or Broly.

How strong would Gotenks be tho? The boys can only go Super saiyan and Super Saiyan 3 when fused. Simply put, most of the villains they would face would be way out of their league. Unless they decide to give Gotenks Super Saiyan 4 or something, the power gap just seems too great.

@ClassicKidSan I still feel like the boys would need to be stronger individually. Like they need to both be able to go Super Saiyan 2 for Gotenks to be able to ascend in power.
Even then, Gotenks would need a beast/Orange Piccolo level power up to be able to deal with the current strength of threats in dragon ball, and Gotenks right now is probably weaker than Ultimate Gohan and the 2 Gammas.

Obviously they aren’t gonna be Goku, Vegeta or Gohan level but they could be way more powerful now. They did mention this chapter that they have been training because they have people to protect.

one thing I noticed reading the chapter. Notice during Goku/Gohan's Fight, Vegeta never seems to have an issue keeping an eye on both of them. he is shown 3 times observing, but never moving, while the rest seem to be amazed and struggle. Reminds me of how they wrote Gohan during the Cell Games. Not to say I think Vegeta is "Stronger" but I think its a nice detail showing he is less impressed, and likely on par with the both of them. Love the small details like that.
He's definitely on Par with at least goku so it would make sense he's on par with both of them.

he is on par with Goku...but Gohan might be a bit stronger than him and Goku. This make it clear that they are around the same level of power Goku is able to compete with him it not one sided fight like people were thinking since they use the Gohan and piccolo line of Goku and Vegeta not being able to defeat Cell Max who Gohan two Shotted with ease.
I popped when i saw Goten and Trunks perform the JUSTICE SPIN attack from the Budokai games, the boys using Great Saiyamans technique against him was awesome.
When Goku asked if it was SSj2 or SSj3 I dont think he meant in power level. He probably thought Gohan found a way to stack another technique onto SSJ2 or SSJ3 like how Goku stacked 2 transformations and a technique to make SSJBKKx20

I know it’s not canon but I remember the GT perfect files saying somewhere that Gohan in GT did not neglect his training and that his base form was automatically his Ultimate form. Movies, manga, anime, comics. MASSIVE amounts of filler and there's barely any screentime of the actual fight. All of them. Sometimes they just team up to fight someone stronger than the both of them.

10/10 chapter. For all the talk about the fights, there's actually some really awesome story points being covered here.
1. Gohan is back, and it's not just because of Beast. He now understands that he needs to be be ready to protect Earth and his family at all times. His development has finally come full circle.
2. Gohan and Piccolo training together again is beautiful and I love how Goku fully acknowledges Piccolo as Gohan's true master despite all the training they've done together.
3. Trunks and Goten are STRONG. People need to remember just how much power creep we've gotten in Super since the ToP. For them to be able to somewhat keep up with Gohan in his current Super Saiyan state scales them well above Buu Saga Goku and Vegeta.
4. I love that Broly is finally being introduced to all the other saiyans. It really makes him feel like one of the group now.
5. Toyotarou made it a point to have Trunks talk about the RR guys and filming their fight more than once, and even made that little joke about deleting the part where they lost. There's absolutely no way that video isn't going to be relevant at some point going forward.
When Piccolo is featured, I predict he's going to fight Vegeta and not Goku. Vegeta is going to demand it's his turn and honestly this is a matchup that's a long time coming.

This was a fun chapter, it was dooe seeing Goten and Trunka spar with Gohan, though the "Fat Gotenks" gag has gotten stale fast, I wish they just give us Adult Gotenks, or if they want to continue the gag then have them fuse into Skinny Gotenks to mix things up a little
I love this chapter we got to see Goku, Gohan, Goten, Vegeta and Trunks reunited in a long time. I love the Ultra Instinct Goku vs Gohan Beast fight Goku gets to see how much Gohan has grown. I also love the fact that Goten and Trunks gets to fight against Gohan after such a long time. Goten and Trunks have such great potential they held their own agianst Gohan.
I think Goku is trolling when he saying what is that form super Saiyan two or three. It’s like a dad talking to his son, trying to knock his son back down to earth type of thing.😂

I feel like a story Toriyama has unintentionally told the whole DB saga is the conflict between organics and artifical, specifically relating to power. It seems in Dragon Ball you can artifically create a lot of power to the point where you can match even the strongest organics. We see it with 17 and 18, and now with Cell Max and the two good androids created in Super Hero.
They can go head to head with beings who have trained their whole lives to be strong.
C17 and 18 are enhanced humans.
Imagine the technology behind their strength on Krilin or Tenshinhan... Even worse on the saiyans... Goku with unlimited stamina could use UI at will
Mule apparently built Mosco and the robot itself is one of the stronger GoDs in the manga (Mule piloting but not channeling his power through Mosco)
Technology vs organic beings, it’s always felt weird that androids or whatever could always be so damn strong with so little effort but it’s basically consistent with the story whether people like it or not
Yeah this is very true. It honestly makes you think that the next time the universe in danger of being erased due to another ToP, Universe 7 could just build some ridiculously powerful androids and call it a day
I’m of the belief that this epilogue is leading into Vomi and that this new arch/saga could be an android 21 arch/saga. The fact that Carmine and 15 are there and there recording the fights, the tease of Vomi in super hero. You wouldn’t keep the red ribbon army around and have them collecting data if they weren’t going to use it. Dr.Gero used a lot of data to determine his androids and the upgrades he gave them, or even in cells case, collect the dna of the fighters. All I’m saying is keep an eye out.
I hope people don't forget OG73 either. I think Frieza might be rebuilding is forces and he did state when he dealt with the Heaters; he did need a second in command 🤔. Hopefully, they've been cooking with the plot this past year.

Just 2 things. I reread the viz twice I don’t think Whis made any reference to Gohan being the strongest. Just that the fight would be a spectacle. I think Goku was asking gohan if the transformation was “like” ssj2 or ssj3, not so much that it was ssj2 or 3. In other words maybe he thought Gohan had learned how to push ssj even further.
I've seen alot of people yapping how Gohan can do what frieza did one shot both goku and vegeta since according to Toriyama he is the strongest in the universe

Completely agree on the Gohan vs Goten & Trunks! Was annoyed at first and then glad they included it. Especially since he beat them without needing to fully power up to the new transformation.

I actually think the multiple failed fat Gotenks fusions serves a different purpose. Its a way of taking fusion off the table as a go to transformation. While success makes you way stronger, its too easy to fail. Failure essentially means you're out of the fight. it makes people hesitant to attempt it, and answers the question, why don't they just fuse.
It allows for fusion to be used for more dramatic purposes. When all else has failed, they are desperate and against the ropes, they attempt the risky fusion dance as their last hail mary hope.
Yeah. It could be a way to get them to stop fighting as a team and get stronger as individual fighters. Like how Goku and Vegeta didn't like their combination attacks before they fused.
Like Goku and Vegeta can fuse, too, but they choose to get stronger individually for a reason. Goten and Trunks should as well.
Or it could just be build up for the big climactic moment when the fusion does work against a real enemy instead of a sparring match.

@@marthouismcmiller4787 OK, but I'm sure Whis doesn't want Goku and Vegeta to only fight as a pair and fuse every fight. Goten/Trunks have like the opposite problem that Goku/Vegeta have. Goku and Vegeta rely too much on themselves individually while Goten and Trunks rely too much on themselves as a team.
Martial arts is all about balance. Self-reliance and team work are both good things, but they're in conflict. Too much of one can hinder the other. The idea is to find the balance.
They've been fusing like their whole lives, it doesn't make sense for them to mess it up, they should be the best. Vegeta should give them shit for relying on it tho.

I agree with you Geekdom on the SSJ2/3 comment. I get that he could've mastered it but earlier in the issue Goku refers to it as a new form when asking Gohan to come with him. So he should have kept referring to it as that instead of an outdated ssj form.

That’s not what was implied.
Goku was asking what the power up was relatively. He couldn’t tell what it was exactly because he’s never seen it but he does know the look and feel of SSJ2 & 3 and Beast has visual similarities to both.
It’s likely he just didn’t have anything else to realistically compare it to.

This is a good calm, before the storm type of chapter. It will be interesting to see, where they go with this. But i still want to see, them visit universe 6 saiyan planet. For all we know, they could pick up a new technique or two. Since they evolved definitely in their universe. Plus, i'm sure universe 6 could pick up alot from other saiyans as well. After that of course would be finding out what frieza is up to. Which i think is important, since frieza left vegeta and goku alive. After frieza one shotted them. My guess, is frieza might need their help for something. Otherwise no point to leave them a live, after beating them.
If Goku loses here somehow then it will pretty much be bad writing and it will make UI is useless asf.

I just had a thought, Pan now has access to 2 possible transformations. She can go either SSJ or Beast since her father can use both, and since she is more human than Saiyan, it might be more likely that she goes Beast instead over SSJ when she develops more from her training.

@Geekdom101, regarding Goku's question about whether Gohan is using SSJ2 or 3, I hear you. But you also have to remember that these forms have been shown to be amped as the series/chapters progress.
The biggest leaps were:
SSJ1 Goku was supercharged by absorbing the power of SSJG.
Later, Future Trunks amped his SSJ2 up to SSJ3 levels in the manga.
Goku has only been really dealing with god ki as of late, so it's possible he got a bit rusty feeling out mortal ki. It makes sense when you consider all of this.
He probably thinks that Gohan somehow did the same as Future Trunks and super amped a previous form. He'd have no basis to assume that Gohan achieved a new form since Ultimate (Why he didn't assume that Gohan enhanced his Ultimate state, idk tbh). 😅
Maybe he thought he stacked super sayain forms on top of ultimate the way he can with TUI

When talking about who is stronger, we have to remember that Super has gone back to Dragon Balls roots - strength is completely separate to ability, and just being more powerful doesnt mean you win.
I Agreed, at this level of power where all of them are comparable it's all about mind and body, who can outmatched the other who makes mistakes.
As of right now both Goku and Gohan are exchanging attacks they know that the other can dodge or block both of them has no intention of winning just yet.
power scalers needs to calm down with their fanfic gauging system and just learn to observe the fight.
This needs to lead to a Planet Sadala Arc. After the Goku vs Gohan fight Cabba pulls up to Beerus planet with Vados and Champa asking Vegeta and the saiyans to help with the Sadala conflict. So much lore with a Kale and Caulifla reunion, double fusion with Kefla and a perfect Gotenks, the King of Sadala facing ultra ego Vegeta, Kale and Broly both going berserk, the list goes on ‼️
With Goten and Trunks I feel like they’re teasing until they get their own spotlight later on down the line. Like for instance when the fusion is done right we will be basically looking at a gogeta that goes ssj3

When Goku & Gohan fight it’s like they are fighting reflections of each other as they're Father & son after all. Think of martial artists who practice in front of a mirror to improve their form. This is the same except Goku’s reflection (Gohan) is a living being fighting back. Notice when they fought in the past, when it got to the point of extreme and focus, there was complete synergy & synchronicity between the two. So satisfying to watch.
I haven’t seen anyone comment on the red ribbon guys recording the fighters… this is incredibly sus when you consider how they made Cell Max and how Gero used to use data… And now they’re recording ultra instinct and beast Gohan, on Beerus’ planet. This is definitely gonna play a part in the villain arc

Gotta say, I like how Beast looks in the manga. I think the 3D animation of Super Hero made it seem very stiff? But in the manga pages it kinda gives more of the vibe they seemed to be going for, being a reference to gohans initial super sayain 2.

It's great to see Goku & Gohan spend time together
When Goku asked Gohan about his new power or form that he got being Super Saiyan 2. It didn't make any sense, because I am pretty sure that a different form would have a different type of power, like how God Ki in Super Saiyan God and Blue are different from regular energy, (tell me if I am wrong). However, I would have liked it if they were playing at if it was a nod at like a character or individual who can evolve their power or just one form on their own so that that power alone can match Gods. For example, Jiren and Broly don't have any God Ki or Godly power. They are just that powerful, and Gohan training for the Tournament of Power, and he fought Super Saiyan Blue Goku, showing that he was just that powerful or around those stronger levels. If they were trying to imply something like that, like that someone can just become strong and powerful as Gods without even having God Ki/energy then I would have liked that, showing that Gohan can become strong that in his other forms like Super Saiyan 2 or Ultimate that he would be around God level, but the way that Goku implied Super Saiyan 2 just sounded dumb and silly.
Broly have also Super Saiyan but super strong version, maybe he though Gohan also have something like that.
Beast mode is like SS3 with the hair going upwards only. Looks cool :)
I thought this chapter was great my only gripe with it was during the spar between Gohan and the boys. I liked that they sparred let me start off with that but I personally don't feel as if Gohan in his base Super Saiyan form beat the boys easily enough. I would have liked to see Gohan smack the boys around as regular as regular SSJ. Then prompting the boys to properly fuse into Gotenks. For me this would have solidified how much stronger Gohan is that he could beat two Super Saiyan's (albeit the weakest Saiyan's in the manga) attacking him and that his own "secret training" that he did by himself and training with Piccolo really paid off, by forcing the boys to fuse into a perfect fusion. Then I think it would have been warranted for him to power up into Ultimate form you could still keep the line where Gotenks calls him Ultimate for the clarification and then it doesn't feel like it cheapens the form. As I was reading it felt that Gohan decided he needed to power up to Ultimate form to beat Goten and Trunks in a 2 on 1. This didn't sit right with me after they have been stuck at SSJ level for ~3 years, it really cheapens the Ultimate form for me. Especially after we saw it go toe to toe with Blue Goku before the ToP. Getting back to my desired changes I would then have Gohan beat a perfectly fused Gotenks with little difficulty and he then starts his fight against Goku in his beast form. The reason I would have Ultimate beat a perfectly fused Gotenks is not because I dislike the boys in fact I want them more involved in the manga. I think if the two boys got handed defeat easily against SSJ Gohan when it was 2 on 1. Then got handed another defeat easily against Ultimate Gohan in their perfectly fused form (Gotenks) it would set up a panel for when Gohan is fighting Goku in Beast form in chapter 103 saying they really need to focus on their training. Seeing just how much further ahead Gohan is then them would undoubtedly spur this conversation. This would set up a perfect segway into a Goten and Trunks mini training arc, and stop them from being the butt of every joke and comedic relief only.
Ultimately, I like how Gohan and Goku have their own versions of UI based on their fighting styles. Likewise, UE suits Vegeta's fighting style well. That's to show that no, while there is a Super Saiyan Yard Sale going on, many of these fighters are going down different paths. Likewise, Broly's perfected LSS form would be a sight to see to channel and exert this limitless power without you know, killing him. On that note, self-depreciative humor is pretty common among writers (especially if you watched Digital Circus' announcement video, where consequences met actions), so yeah. Quite a bummer Goku brought up SSj2 and SSj3, completely unaware of Ultimate Gohan.
I think Gohan is stronger. And here is why: *Because Gohan has never been weaker than Goku after a new transformation.*
Evidence:
• When Gohan raged for the first time, he was more than twice as powerful as Goku *&* Piccolo. *Combined.*
• When Gohan transformed into a Super Saiyan for the first time, his SSJ transformation was stronger than Goku's. (Goku even pointed out that, when Goku was foghting Cell, he perceived Goku to be holding back because he was comparing Goku's power level against his own, with the assumption that Goku was stronger than himself. He was not.)
• Of course, when Gohan transformed into Super Saiyan 2, he a whole new tier above Goku. (Everyone, actually.)
• When Gohan got his Ultimate form, he was two or three tiers above Goku. (You may disagree with the size of the chasm between Ultimate Gohan and SSJ3 Goku, but we can all agree that Ultimate Gohan was, indeed, stronger.)
Gohan has never reached a new transformation without passing Goku's then-current power level. Assuming the pattern holds, Gohan is, yet again, stronger than Goku.
It might not mean anything right now but hopefully the line that Gohan says to Goten and Trunks is foreshadowing something bigger “I see you you guys have been training”.
Vegeta should be the one to fight orange Piccolo.
This is great to see, I remember absolutely loving the fight prior to the TOP between goku and gohan. The fight between father and son to test there limits is a delight to see as a fan. I just hope they get back to the anime someday.
One must remember at this point Goku hasn't seen Gohan's new form. And the reason he asks is it SSJ2 or SSJ3 is quite simple, in the fact that Gohan is still using "Normal" Ki and not GOD Ki like himself and Vegeta. So Goku was wondering if Gohan basically maxxed his SSJ2 or transformed into SSJ3. As the only times I can think where "Normal" ki was felt that far prior was SSJ3, when Goku first transformed and SSJ2 Gohan when he powered up against Frieza in the ROF arc to give Goku a beacon to lock onto.
I just felt the line was pretty basic and straight forward.... and it also means that Gohan currently has the highest "Mortal" Ki currently I would assume. Since Goku and Vegeta's strongest forms tap into God Ki.
I noticed something ppl haven't mentioned and that is Gotenks finally witnessing Ultra Instinct and well that might play a role later in the storey, hopefully.
Cuz in case anyone forgot Goten and Trunks just saw Goku going SSJ3 twice in the Manga(Buu Saga/Arc) and in the anime Goku Taught them how to tap into it. And those two learn pretty quickly since they're still kids and maybe are stronger than their fathers used to be, Pre Buu Saga wise.
