Some comments about the video since no annotations so leaving this pinned here: In the meteor cancel section, you cannot meteor cancel frames 1-7, but you can any time frame 8 and beyond. Also the lockout is 40 frames, not 60. B-Reverse in Melee isn't the same as other games, you don't reverse momentum with the move. It's akin to a turnaround move, although I have heard both ways myself just due to the overlap of players in all the communities.
don't know if you are going to read this or this message will get to you, but let me tell you that all your melee tutorials are really good and help a lot, especially to the new people who want to get into the game. thank you very much for all of them.
I bet everyone who wants to improve tech with their respective haracter of choice has seen your videos. Nice to see youre still uploading! The melee youtube scene is gonna be great again!
Ecyen It’s usually referred to as a T-Drop (because of involving teeter). Westballz was a big fan of it and would do it a bunch when he streamed. As mentioned in this video though, it’s only available on Fountain of Dreams, so it’s not terribly useful in competitive
I'm not sure who came up with the term T-drop, but I've literally never heard it before like 2015. I learned the Dingo Drop from Dingo himself in 2012 around when I started playing.
@@garrettrobinson7467 It seems that it's mostly known as Dingo Drop from people within his region. If you Google "before:2016-01-03 melee "dingo drop"" you can see where T-Drop came from. It was decently hot at the time, so players like Westballz picked it up and perpetuated it.

Your videos are amazing. You deserve 100 million times more views. Thank you so much for compiling the techniques used in one of the greatest games ever played
A criticism of this video would be that for younger players, they may feel that they need to learn all of these, which is untrue. I would list the core, most important tech first, then the "optional" tech afterwards :)

KennyTheKid Haha I guess if I could go back and rewrite that, the only tips I have are practice practice practice for that section. With UnclePunch’s mod you can get a lot of good training in without wasting time to SD’s.
Haven't played smash in 10 years but wanted to checkout how the scene changed. I played from 2006-2009 at Rutgers and in the PA area a little afterwards. Played m2k all the time and we had some good players at the time. The game mustve been younger then as I got second place in the Rutgers tournament (lost to doyoung) and we used to do 2v2s and 1v1s biweekly. Now I see m2k is one of the best players in the world, he's come a long way!
Always cool seeing the old guard checking back in, sounds like a fun scene back then. The fact that M2K has adapted to the meta changing over so many years and staying on top the whole time is impressive.
I love these videos, they are among my favourites. Is there any chance you will make a similiar series for another Smash game, such as Project M or Smash Ultimate?
7:16 I’m confused, can’t you just spam l/r/z as much as you want as long as it’s within the 7 frame window it will still count? I thought the only thing that you get locked out of is techs if you hard press, not l-cancels?
Iirc some players like to do the double L Cancel approach with both L/R when landing from a weird spot to better guarantee an L Cancel. Just from the top of my head I think you’re right though probably just an older mistake in information I forgot to fix
4:45 Isai Drop. I can't believe I never heard of this, thank you. My questions is "How can it be buffered from an areial if you have to walk before dropping? Is it through an l-cancel?"
Hey sorry about the wait, basically you “buffer” the walk while moving forward with the aerial movement (since if L cancelled or auto cancelled, the character will take a step forward after if there is enough space on the platform), and then doing the downward input right after you land.
I discoverd a new tech. When on ledge if you hold down the c stick really far down. It will buffer a d air. But it reguires some practice to understand.
Fun facts the Koopa back dash thingy was actually has a really long because the people who discovered thought it would be funny if it had a really long pointless name
No Wonder melee players get carpal tunnel. Jeez. The most complicated movement tech we have in ultimate is either dash-walking or dash attack cancelling
Bruh u don't even need to foxtrot wit Luigi with how he moves with his wavedash, which is faster than his run and almost out paces foxes full sprint speed.
Short hand, this was going to be a co-op game channel, we just liked the idea of the audience being the Third Chair, but it eventually transitioned to a Melee guides channel, and I just liked the name so never went to change it
@@thirdchair9670 Kk, thank you. Do you know perhaps any free way to get something similar to work for regular melee? Like say I wanted to stream Slippi but wanted to show my inputs
Considering that slippi uses the base Melee game to run I don’t think it’s possible atm without some sort of rom hack, however you can get an external tool to take care of input display for streaming like what Axe does.

The run cancel for stopping momentum can’t be done by shielding, your momentum carries unless you are in dash I believe. Great vid tho :)
