- Hulme, First Street, Mancunian Way
A far cry from its origins as the Gaythorn Gas Works, First Street has emerged as one of Manchester’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Number One First Street sparked a well-established blend of culture, leisure, retail and office space. And more than 10 years on, opportunities still arise. With bold plans for the future, this ever-evolving address will be home to even more quality workspaces and brand-new apartments for everyone to enjoy.
Hulme is an inner city area and electoral ward of Manchester, England, immediately south of Manchester city centre. It has a significant industrial heritage.
Historically in Lancashire, the name Hulme is derived from the Old Norse word for a small island, or land surrounded by water or marsh, indicating that it may have been first settled by Norse invaders in the period of the Danelaw.
The Mancunian Way is a two-mile-long grade-separated elevated motorway in Manchester, England. It is officially made up of the A57 and A635 motorways, although the latter does not appear on road signs for practical reasons.
