    I have bad experiences going to dermatologist office. They don't say anything and last time I had to email dermatologist office for them to give me acne treatment. You on the other hand, describe everything about acne and your recommendations are so helpful. Thank you so much ❤

      I’ve had the same experience with my dermatology visits. I continued to go for a few years, even though I dreaded the interaction. They were like 5 minute appointments & I figured I could put-aside my uncomfortable feelings for such a short visit.
      My acne is pretty severe for someone of my age, mid 40’s. I struggle from PCOS & Endometriosis…. I know my acne is directly associated to my diagnoses and wanted to explore any possible treatments specific to my issues. My Dermatologist wasn’t helpful or, (presumably,) very interested in my concerns. Currently , I receive my prescription Tretinoin via mail, from an online subscription company . Basically, I have the same unattached care, minus the awkward appointments 🤣 I just research here & there hoping I’ll stumble across some information about my condition and it’s side effects.

      @@dee96111 oh mine, sorry to hear that. I heard it is best to try different dermatologists. And hopefully finally you will find the One who helps you. Also thanks to all these different dermatologists on TH-cam that we can learn from. I use niacinamide, azelaic acid, tretinoin, salicylic and glycolic acid. Gentle cleansing. Double cleansing at night. Nice moisturizers

    Dr. Liu this was a video I needed today! Thank you! Love you videos and I’ve been watching for awhile. If I could be completely honest, I remember your older videos and you spoke sooo fast!! I had a hard time keeping up (English is my second language) and had to go back to rewatch. The newer videos are so much better for me to understand. Not sure if I just got use to your voice or maybe you’re speaking little slower…. Regardless of what it is, I’m enjoying it so much more!! Thank you!! Happy New Year

    Thank you for another great video!
    Question: Would one use the treatments (ex. benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid) less frequently (or even stop using it) if the majority of your acne clears up (or clears completely)? Or should you continue to use those ingredients at the same rate no matter what, as a preventative measure against acne?

    Thank you for such an informative in-depth video! I’ve always wondered if there is a link between comedonal acne and keratosis pilaris due to the irregular keratinisation?

    Thank you for your informative videos. What kind of sunscreen do you recommend for very acne prone skin?

    • @TateVanPatten
      @TateVanPatten 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course, none comedogenic. I’ve heard that there is some weak evidence showing that zinc is helpful with acne, so it’s possible that there could be some benefit to using a zinc oxide be sunscreen, but that is speculation. The best SPF will be the one that you will wear (and won’t clog your pores)!

    Would also love to know what your thoughts are on the use of azelaic acid for treating acne.

    Hello Dr. Liu, thank you for your clear and helpful opinion. I’m a last year medical student with mild papulo pustolar comedo acne that doesn’t trust her dermatology anymore due to wrong past prescriptions. I searched through pubmed articles about the maintenance therapy of acne after the first line therapy with topic retinoids, but the evidence is very poor. Do you have any suggestion it? How to manage the maintenance therapy?
    Thank you so much.
    -Camilla

    hi! is cerave resurfacing retinol serum good instead of adapalene? that's what i have and i can't find adapalene in my country. i'm starting a routine of: (1) BHA exfoliation > (2) retinol > (3) gentle skincare > (4) gentle skincare > (restart). also using a benzoyl peroxide wash in the mornings sometimes. what do you think?

    Dr Jenny I really wanted to use the OGX brazilian keratin therapy shampoo. This product claims it is sulphate and paraben free but it has amodimethicone. Should I use it? I'm recently having a great hair loss. So I'm really scared to try something new. Would you please reply?
