They have one now lol. Probably getting another this year. I don't see McKinley getting one any time soon. It's a ran down city nobody wants to go there anymore
Massillon is a different district these days, and it's fortunate. I graduated the year Go Tigers! came out, from a school a few miles up the road. Massillon had a terrible reputation at the time. Now, my kids attend Massillon schools (3 girls and 1 boy who is completely uninterested in sports) and the district has been amazing. Nobody is shoving football down his throat at all.
School sports are difficult to navigate, for adults and the kids. On one hand, sports are very appealing to some kids, and it seems like the only thing that gives them ambition. On the other hand, it's a big gamble if you put sports above academics. What if you don't get that football scholarship? Tear your ACL and can't play football? Lose the scholarship? Don't get into the NFL? In a town like this, there's a lot of dissatisfied former high school athletes. Now they're nobody.
jmaug6 does have a point, St. Ignatius does probably have the best football program in Ohio. On the other hand, "Go Tigers" shows how passionate people are about football in the state as a whole. Texas may have the best high school football but Ohio is not far behind.
Never saw this film and don't care to. I am a McK bulldog and Massillon has always been a thorn in our side. Massillon is way more fanatic than McKinley even though Pups are somewhat ardent about football too; however McK has basketball too with stellar records and the Tigers don't!
as a teacher, I find this to be pathetic. Masillion schools are under funded, local unemployment is above the national average, and local average annual income is $10,000 below the national average. and yet, the football team has a $3,000,000 training facility. this is insulting to my intellect. maybe i'm just big city and don't understand "small town America", but this is wasted money. it could buy so many textbooks, computers, hire new teachers...
Competitive school sports always get more deference than academics. If there's a pep rally for the football team, I wonder "is there one for the debating team, mock trial team, and the kids who volunteer at the nursing home?" When you have sports so that the kids stay off the streets, that's perfect. But when you use sports as a ticket to wealth, it becomes a one-way ticket to poverty.
Ignatius is a lot more than the best football school in the state. It also boasts the #1 ranked soccer team, a Blue Ribbon Award (only one other high school received this award) an unparalleled amount of service to our community, and we have more State Championship victories than any other team in Ohio. But no, you're right, Ignatius sucks.
Ignatius and "others" get to recruit. Plain and simple. Great football teams don't get me wrong.... but not a level playing field. Let the Big Dawgs in D1 recruit and see how many public schools start winning.
hahahaha hahahahaha hahahahaha us get our asses kicked get to steppin little boy we aint got our asses kicked by you this year ya'll got lucky when we make it to round 4 we'll see who the best team in Northern Ohio is ya'll might not even make it I bet
This is a complete joke. We played down last night and still ran train on Massillon. Good luck winning a D1 State Championship now that you won't even play the best.
Okay, first of all I respect Football, it is one of the greatest sports in the world.(Go Packers!!!!) So I am not hating on it. All I am saying is how about you all go and play a real mans sport like Water polo or Rugby. Live Water Polo, Breath Water Polo, Die Water Polo. I will have to say Football comes in a close third. Okay you all can start hating on me. I asked for it. Hahaha just had to say my thoughts.
I was on this team when the film was being made. It was an amazing experience
BS

Oh, and just to clarify, I agree with you. I'm currently in college and Massillon is the last place I plan on living.

lol i go to mckinley this is making us look lame im not gonna lie
This is wrong, Pro football started in Canton, Ohio lol
it actually started in both canton and massillon so know your facts
The NFL was founded in Canton. Not pro football. Massillons DNA is on every football program out there.

Probs bc Massillon smoked y’all in 99
I dont like sports but after watching this trailer I hate sports
I don't believe for one second that you're a teacher. Capitalization at the beginning of sentences would be a good start convincing people.
I rep canton mckinley
I want mckinley to beat them
no it really aint they recruit

man you’re uneducated on this topic. all of massillons facilities and nice stadium was donated by the boosters.
@@cobyjmartin still a waste. Why aren't they donating to education?
@@HistoryTeacherSteve Because it stems at the middle school level
Wrong. The football facility was more like 10 million
