      I don't recommend that route. IT/Tech is in really bad shape right now and cutting a lot of workers. If you're really set on doing cybersecurity, get some certifications first then test the job market and hopefully you land a job and your employer will help pay for your masters degree. Just be aware, there are a lot of changes going on in IT/Tech right now and none of them are positive for workers. I know this is a wild suggestion but you might consider a trade, like an electrician. Again, I highly recommend you first test the market by getting some security certs before you take on a ton of debt getting a masters only to find there are no jobs. Good luck!

    I think the cybersecurity degree should’ve been B tier and IT degrees A tier because IT degrees can be used to apply for the same cybersecurity jobs but flexible enough to try other tech areas. Cybersecurity degrees are good but alone, they are mainly for that specific field and limits one from other opportunities.

    • @takuyamatsuda7214
      @takuyamatsuda7214 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what your idea of data science is. If you mean data science as in the data field then yes, a data analytics degree can be helpful. In terms of data science as in predictive analysis then statistics or math, a more quantitative major is vastly superior to a data analytics degree.

    • @takuyamatsuda7214
      @takuyamatsuda7214 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sayitamilliontimes7125 I think CS skills aren’t really needed for most analytics jobs. You’re not wrong that analytics skills can be picked up on the job but most places only really ever require excel to do a data analytics job. Now good analysts will probably have either python or R, and viz software in their toolkit but that’s besides the point. Now if your going to be a ML engineer or Data engineer then yes CS is prob very useful. For data science… not necessarily as much but some would be useful ig. But even then not as much as a stats background

    Is it better to get an MIS degree or get a double major in Business administration and Data science? MIS doesn't have as much math, statistics or course about AI as a Data science degree. Could someone help me set the criteria upon which I'd make my choice?

    • @user-xy2ly4uz6p

      MIS has as much math as data science. Data science and MIS only goes up to calc 1 and it has a few stat classes. MIS also has additional math in finance and accounting classes

      Dunno much about information systems but data science was literally named the sexiest job in like 2019. It’s very good but there’s a lot of jobs in data science. The field of data science has stuff from ML engineers, “Data science” (both a field and a job. Data science is really kinda predictive data analytics tho), data analysts, data engineers etc. Overall the entire field is good but it’s also p diverse. For example ML and Data engineers are a lot closer to software engineers. Data scientists are very close to statisticians, data analysts require less hard maths and coding but tend to have to be a bit more socially inclined than the other two.

      That's the unfortunate state of the world though, where SMEM and specifically Computers degrees thrive in the market while Arts and Literature degrees don't have that high demand and need. Shane just collects and represents the information and statistics to help people out in choosing or evaluating majors.
